Hello Bluebird - Happy 4th of July

Hello there,

I'm back with a new Hello Bluebird slimline card and it's a 4th of July themed card! I don't make one every year but this gorgeous Flying High stamp set inspired me to create one.

I started by stamping my images using extreme black ink by My Favorite Things, I cut them all using the coordinating dies and then colored everything using my alcohol markers as always.

Once everything was colored, I assembled all the different elements on each balloon using liquid glue.

For the background I cut an 8,5 x 3,5" panel out of a smooth watercolor cardstock, I also cut some clouds using the Partly Cloudy die out of the same paper, and I attached all those clouds on my slimline panel to give it more interest. Next I colored that panel using tumbled glass, blueprint sketch and chipped sapphire oxide inks. I added lots of textures, starting as always with water droplets that I dried using a paper towel. I mixed some chipped sapphire oxide ink with water and added a bunch of droplets all over the paper, and next to get a festive sky, with some kind of fireworks, I added drops of liquid stardust, and finally I splattered white acrylic paint mixed with water to bring a touch of light.

Next I attached my three hot air balloons and three birds using foam squares. For my sentiment, I cut some letters using the Jane Small Alpha die set. I cut light blue letters to form the word 'Happy', and navy blue white and red letters to form the word 'Day'. And I cut all those letters a second time out of white cardstock to add an outline. And I attached them on the bottom right section using foam squares.

As always I added highlights on the images using my white gel pen, and then I added a few morning dew nuvo drops all around the balloons to make the scene even more festive. And I also applied a coat of glossy accents on my sentiment to make it super shiny.

Lawn Fawn - Office Chair Race Birthday Card

 Hi there,

Have you ever wondered what Lawn Fawn lovely employees do to celebrate someone's birthday? Well, I have the answer: they do office chair races! As always I went through my entire LF collection and picked some sets to create this fun little scene.

I stamped all my images using jet black ink and used the coordinating dies to cut them all.  And then I used my alcohol markers to color everything.

Once all the coloring was done, I created the background. I cut a large panel using the Shutter Card die set, masked the bottom of it and used tumbled glass oxide ink to color the top section. And to make my own Spiffy Speckles paper I just added a few salty ocean oxide ink droplets all over that blue section. And for the bottom section, I used hickory oxide ink to create a simple floor.

I got rid of the small tabs at the top and bottom of my panel, and then assembled and attached all my cute images on the panel.

The final step was to add the first part of my sentiment that reads 'Zoomin by to say'. I white heat embossed it on a long strip of vellum and attached it at the very bottom of my scene. But I always find it tricky to attach vellum, glue always shows, so I stick that strip at the back of the panel. I applied double sticky tape at the bottom of my panel at the back on both sides, placed the strip of vellum on the front of the panel, and then folded both ends of the vellum strip to attach them at the back of the panel.

I attached my panel on a blue card base using strong double sided tape, and as always I finished the card by adding highlights using my white gel pen.

Hello Bluebird - A Walk on the Pier

Hello there,

I'm back with a new Hello Bluebird scene, and today I'm taking you to the pier to meet some cute and fun seagulls and to watch the waves break on the lighthouse.

I started with the background and picked some oxide inks to create kind of a gloomy sky: speckled egg, peacock feathers and chipped sapphire. I applied the inks on a smooth watercolor 5,5 x 4,25" panel, and blended them as nicely as possible. Once I was happy with the blending, I added more details to my gloomy sky: water droplets that I dried with a paper towel, and I also brought more contrast by mixing some chipped sapphire oxide ink with water to create tiny droplets on the paper.

To ground my scene, I cut a simple rectangle that I colored using hickory smoke and black soot distress inks. And to add more interest and texture to this plain grey element, I used a brick stencil along with hickory smoke distress ink again. And I finished with some black soot droplets.

Next I stamped my images using extreme black ink by My Favorite Things. Cut them all using the coordinating dies and then colored everything using my alcohol markers as always. And once the coloring was done, I assembled and attached all the elements and images on my panel using foam squares and foam tape.

I white heat embossed my sentiment 'Rain or shine I'm here for you' on black cardstock, trimmed it into a small banner that I attached above the girl using foam squares. And finally, to match the gloomy and rainy theme, I added a few clear drops here and there.

Hello Blueblird - Go Bananas

 Hi there,

I'm back today for Hello Bluebird with a super cute jungle scene featuring three cheeky monkeys and their bananas. And to set my jungle scene, I started by cutting trees and bushes. I cut them out the same paper I use to color my images and colored them using my alcohol markers.

Once I was done with those trees and bushes, I colored the images: monkeys, leaves, bananas, tree trunk... Stamped them using extreme black ink by My Favorite Things, used the coordinating dies to cut them all and then my alcohol markers again to color everything.

Next I moved on to the background. I cut a 5,5 x 4,24" panel, as well as two grass borders out of a smooth watercolor cardstock from Vaessen Creative, and I used oxide inks to color those elements. Started with the sky at the top of the panel using tumbled glass and peacock feathers. And for the grass borders I used lucky clover and pine needles.

I assembled everything, starting with the die cuts trees and bushes and also the grass borders using foam squares and foam tape.

Next I created my sentiment, starting with the second part of it. I cut some letters out of yellow cardstock to form the word 'Bananas' that I stuck at the bottom of my panel. And for the first part of my sentiment, I white heat embossed 'It's your day, go' on black cardstock, I trimmed in into a slim banner that I attached above the word 'Bananas' along with the last monkey.

I attached a few more leaves here and there, and finally added some morning dew nuvo drops at some places, as well as a coat of glossy accents on the yellow letters, because I always like to finish my cards with a touch of shine.
