Lawn Fawn - Stenciled Background & Die Cuts

mardi 13 juillet 2021

 Hey there,

I'm glad to be participating in Lawn Fawn Summer Inspiration Week. Last time we went to Hawaii to have a refreshing strawberry cocktail at a tiki bar, well today we're still in Hawaii and we're surrounded by some gorgeous hibiscus flowers and tropical leaves.

I started with the background and cut an 8,5 x 3,5" slimline panel out of mermaid cardstock. And used the Tropical Leaves Background Stencils to create a beautiful leafy background. I taped the first stencil (the one with the biggest leaves) to my panel and used white pigment ink as a base for my tropical leaves. And I applied three coats of white ink to get a more opaque color.

I let the ink dry, cleaned up my stencil and repositioned it at the same place, right on the leaves. And then I shifted that stencil, just one or two centimeters towards the bottom right on my panel. Taped the stencil to my panel, and then used tumbled glass and peacock feathers oxide to create another tropical leaves layer.

Next I placed the second stencil on top of my panel and used white ink again to add more leaves. And I kept this layer of leaves only white to bring some variation to my background.

And then I cut all the flowers and leaves out of colored cardstocks and vellum using the Happy Hibiscus and Tropical Leaves die sets, and used different oxide inks to add shadows to each element. Feel welcome to check the video to see the inks I used for each colored cardstock.

Once all my elements were done, I used liquid glue and foam squares to assemble and attach everything on my slimline panel, and next I added splatters all over the panel using white acrylic paint mixed with water and a small brush.

I cut the word Aloha out of woodgrain cardstock and mermaid cardstock, applied a bit of vintage photo on the edges of my wood textured word, that I glued on the mermaid element. And I attached my word below the flowers. I attached my panel on a mermaid card base, and finally added clear droplets in the center of each flower, and a few more here and there to bring some shine to my card.
