Guest Designer for Lawn Fawnatics 2

Hello there,

I'm back with the second card I've created as a guest designer for the What's the weather Lawn Fawnatics ChallengeThis time I used traditional rainbow colors, played with my oxide inks and created my own umbrella.

I stamped the images on Neenah solar white cardstock using Memento tuxedo black ink. The umbrella was made using the biggest hot air balloon from the Blue Skies stamp set. I drew the umbrella shape using a pencil, colored it using my spectrum noir markers, and used a black pen to complete it, trying to match the rest of the image as much as i could.

The other images were also colored using the same markers, and everything was cut using the coordinating dies. I fussy cut the rest of the hot air balloon to finally change it into an umbrella.

For the ground, I used hickory smoke distress ink with a lot of water to get a light grey. I dried the ink, applied more grey and dried again.

For the sky I used tumbled glass, stormy sky and chipped sapphire oxide inks. I first applied water on the paper and then played with the colors.  Tumbled glass first. Next stormy sky at the top and then chipped sapphire at the very top. I dried the panel and did this process a second time. And to give the illusion of rain, I splattered water on the panel and dried it. I also did tone on tone splatters using the same oxide inks.

I cut my paper to a 5.5 by 4.25 inches panel and picked some oxide inks in rainbow colors: candied apple, spiced marmalade, mustard seed, mowed lawn and salty ocean. Bright colors to stamp rain drops. I know there is an umbrella so it's not supposed to be raining under it but I thought it would be cute and kind of magical to add those drops.

I cut the sentiment stamp to make it one line, bent it to follow the curve of the umbrella and white heat embossed it. I attached my panel on a white card base and attached the images using foam adhesive squares. And one last final touch: I added a white nuvo drop in the center of the flower.

Thank you so much Nancy for offering me this guest designer spot, it was super exciting and there was no better way to start the year!

Guest Designer for Lawn Fawnatics 1

Hello there,

I am beyond excited to share with you this card I've made as a Guest Designer for the Lawn Fawnatics ChallengeI am truly honored that I have been asked to join the challenge team for this What's the weather theme. I had a lot of fun creating this card and I hope you'll like it.

As always I searched my entire collection, looking for images and dies that could match the theme. I first started by die cutting a cloud backdrop from bristol cardstock. It was my first time using it, and I really love the stitched details, it's just perfect to add subtle interest to a project.

I covered the whole panel using tumbled glass oxide ink. Next I applied peacock feathers oxide ink but just on the edges to add more depth, and then I blended both colors using the tumbled glass ink.

I die cut a rainbow from Neenah solar white cardstock and used non traditional colors to color it. Actually I was inspired by a picture I saw a few weeks ago online and thought it would be fun to try to recreate it.

I used the coordinating sun die from the Out this world stamp set and colored it using my markers. All the rainbow elements were glued together on a piece of cardstock. This way it would be easier to manipulate and to attached on the cloud panel. Before cutting the rainbow I added dots on each rainbow piece but they will be mostly covered by glitter.

I wanted my sentiment to follow the curve of the rainbow so I simply used the die as a guide to help me bend the stamp. I applied versamark ink and white heat embossed it.  I also stamped and white heat embossed some diamond shapes around the sentiment. And to add more contrast I stamped those diamond shapes using the same inks as the ones used for the background: tumbled glass and peacock feathers.

Next I applied liquid glue on each element of the rainbow, along the dark edges, and sprinkled chunky glitter on them. I'm not a big fan of glitter because it sticks to everything but it was definitely worth it.

I attached the cloud panel to a white card base and attached the rainbow on top of it using 1mm adhesive squares. I cut the sun in half, attached it under the rainbow using the same adhesive squares and applied clear shimmer on top of it. Finally, the clouds were attached using 3mm adhesive squares.

I hope you like this non traditional rainbow. I have another card to share for this challenge and I can't wait to share it next week!

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #46 - Colorful Garden - Box Card

Hey there,

Today I'm sharing with you a box card featuring the Fairy friends stamp set, one of my favorite, and some other sets. The colors I used were inspired by the latest Lawn Fawnatics Challenge.

I first started by die cutting two box card panels anf five flaps (but I only used four of them) from Chill Pepper cardstock, two small and two large rectangles from Pink Tutu cardstock (Really Rainbow 6x6 paper pack), and finally two small scalloped rectangle and two large scalloped rectangles from gold glitter paper using the box card die.

I attached together both of the box card panels, folded the sides of the box and three of the flaps. The fourth flap will be the back of the box. Next I attached the gold glitter rectangles on the flaps, and then the Pink Tutu rectangles on top.

I folded on one side the flaps of the insert elements and attached them inside the box. Next I folded the other flaps, aligned the insert elements with each othe, removed the back of the tape, and folded down the box panel to attach those flaps. Finally I removed the remaining tape and closed the box.

I die cut five grass borders and three smaller ones from grey cardstock. The small ones were created using the rectangle dies from the box card set first, and then the grass border die. This way they have the same stitched details as the Pink Tutu elements.

As always, the images were stamped on Neenah solar white cardstock using memento tuxedo black ink. Everything was colored using Spectrum Noir markers and cut using the coordinating dies. I added white highlights on the images using a Sakura white gel pen and applied White Blizzard Nuvo drops on the fairies wings for a touch of sparkle.

My sentiment was stamped on the front flap using Versamark ink and white heat embossed. Doing this step before attaching the papers to the flap would have been more practical but it went pretty well anyway.

And finally I attached all the images on the flaps and inside the box using glue dots.

Isabel Cristina Stamps - Howdy - Double Slider Card

Hello there,

Today I'm very happy to share with you this double slider card showcasing a brand new digital stamp set by Isabel Cristina Stamps called Howdy.

When you purchase and download Isabel digital sets, they always come with easy print pages. So i first started by printing it on Neenah solar white cardstock using my Epson XP 225 printer.

I cut the elements I wanted to use and colored them using my spectrum noir markers.

Next i built the slider. I die cut 2 pocket pieces, one track piece and 2 panel pieces, all from bristol cardstock.  I folded along the score lines on both pocket pieces, used my bone folder to get sharp edges and then applied 3mm double sided tape on the thin tabs. I took the track piece and applied the same tape at the top and bottom, and did the same thing at the back.

Next I took a poop bag from my dog, cut a 2.25 inches strip and attached it around the track piece.

I applied tape on the seam of the plastic strip, turned the track piece and did the same thing but at the opposite side.

I die cut another pocket piece and another panel piece from bristol cardstock and used them to die cut hill borders. And next one more pocket piece and one more panel piece to die cut grass borders that coordinates with the hill borders.

Now some colors. I took my homemade cloud stencil and peacock feathers distress ink to create the sky on the three panels. To color the grass borders I used shabby shutters and peeled paint distress inks. I covered the whole border with the light green and applied the dark one the top only. For the hill borders I used antique linen as a base and gathered twigs to darken it and make shadows.

When all the elements were colored I attached them on the sky panels using double sided tape.

Next I assembled everything. I took the track piece, removed the back of the tape, aligned it with my grid mat and then attached the right panel. Turned the track piece and did the same thing with the other panel. I took the pocket pieces and attached them together. And before I forgot I die cut notches on the left and right sides of the pocket pieces.

Next I removed the back of the tape at the back of the track piece, made sure everything was aligned, and attached it inside the pocket piece. Removed the remaining tapes and closed the pocket.

I run the slider a couple of times to make it was working smoothly and from craft cardstock I die cut two pull tabs that I attached on the sides.

I cut a card base out of kraft cardstock, and die cut a scalloped rectangle from cream cardstock and a stitched rectangle from plaid paper. I attached those three elements on top of each other, and then the slider panel. And finally all the images were attached using glue dots.

Valentine Card Mini Series - Tale Series - The Frog King

Hey there,

Today I'm sharing with you the last card of my Valentine card mini series, but it is also the first of a new series that will be about tales. Famous or less famous but all using brands that I love ^^

This first one represents a german tale, The Frog King by the brothers Grimm, and as always I gathered several stamp sets to create my scene.

All the images were stamped on Neenah solar white cardstock using memento tuxedo black ink and colored using my spectrum noir markers.  The first image I colored was the sand castle from the life ia good set. Turning it into a medieval castle was very easy and fun. For more texture I also added tiny dots on the frog, the bird, the snail, the trees and the leaves.

To build the background I die cut some borders: three grass borders and a hill border. The grass border was colored using twisted citron and mowed lawn distress inks. I first covered them with the light green and used the dark green to make shadows. The hill border will be used as a lake and was colored using tumbled glass oxide ink.

Next I took a 5.5 x 4.25 inches bristol panel, used the grass border as a guide to traced some pencil marks and know where to create the sky using scattered straw and salty ocean distress inks. When all the elements were colored, I attached them on top of each other and then on the sky panel using double sided tape. And all the images were attached using foam adhesive squares and glue dots.

I stamped a speech bubble and a heart in the center using versamark and white heat embossed them. It will be used as the sentiment. I placed a foam adhesive square at the back of it, just behind the heart, this way no trace of glue.

To finish the card I attached the panel to a white card base and added white nuvo drops in the center of each flower.

My Favorite Things - Blue Princess - Tunnel Card

Hello there,

It's been a little while since I shared a project featuring My Favorite Things products, actually according to my blog it was in may 2018 and it was showcasing the London mouse dressed as the Beatles.

Anyway, back to today's card, it's a tunnel card, it features my favorite color, blue, obviously ^^ and the Once upon a time stamp set. The clouds are from the Sweet sloths stamp set. And I also used the grass fields dies.

I stamped the images on Neenah solar white cardstock using memento tuxedo black ink and colored them using my Spectrum Noir markers. I applied clear shimmer to the grey parts of the princess dress, to her crown, to the birds crown and to the horse's hair, and added white dots to give the illusion of sparkles.

Next I cut three 5.5 x 4.25 inches panels. In the middle of the blue panel, I die cut a large circle. Next I used the blue panel as a guide to position and cut a medium circle out of the flower panel. And then I used the flower panel as a guide to cut a small circle out of the white panel.

I die cut a grass border out of cream cardstock and stamped my sentiment on it. The first part was stamped using versamark ink and was silver heat embossed, the second part was stamped using chipped sapphire oxide ink.

I used the white panel as a guide and a pencil to trace the window on a bristol panel, next I applied tumbled glass oxide ink as a base to create the sky and added chipped sapphire to darken it a little bit at the bottom. Finally water was splattered and dried to add more interest.  And it wasn't planned but I also added chipped sapphire and tumbled glass drops to give the illusion of tiny stars.

Now to the assembly. On the front of the white and the flower panels I attached a grass border using double sided tape. For the blue panel I first attached the sentiment border to another grass border and next I sticked them down on the panel using the same adhesive.

Double sided foam tape was attached at the back of each panel so I could stick everything down: the white panel on the bristol panel, the flower panel on the white panel and finally the blue panel on the flower panel.

I gathered all my images and attached them using foam adhesive squares. I attached the tunnel panel to a white card base and as a final touch I applied white nuvo drops in the center of the flowers. And I also added a third cloud.

Lawn Fawn - Chinese New Year

Hey there,

Next Tuesday it will be the Chinese new year, the year of the pig, and I thought it would be nice and fun to celebrate it by making a card.

I first started by cutting a 5.5 by 4 1/4 inches red panel. To give some texture to this panel I applied aged mahogany distress ink on top of it using a stencil by Tim Holtz. And to add more depth to the panel I applied the same ink on the edges, added a little bit of black soot distress ink and blended again using aged mahogany ink.

Next I cut a gold mirror panel a little bit smaller than the red panel and die cut a large rectangle in the middle to create a thin frame.

I searched my entire collection of Lawn Fawn supplies, looking for an image that could work as a lantern, and came accross the "Out of this world" stamp set and the planet stamps were just perfect!

I stamped them on Neenah solar white cardstock using versamark ink, gold heat embossed them and colored them my Spectrum Noir markers. The pig was stamped using memento tuxedo black ink and colored using the same markers.

To complete the card, I die cut two black branches and a bunch of light pink flowers that I made look prettier and less flat using worn lipstick and aged mahogany distress inks.

I placed the elements on the panel without gluing them yet and with a pencil i traced some marks to know exactly where to stamp the strings of the lanterns. Next I used versamark ink to stamp the strings. This stamp is from a christmas set called "Deck the halls".

Before sticking everything down using foam adhesive squares, I applied aged mahogany distress ink at the pig's feet, this way he's not floating in the air.

After gluing a bunch of red and gold sequins, I applied some shimmer to the lanterns. Finally I formed the flowers in the palm of my hand using a small ball too, and attached them on the branches using liquid glue.
