Magengo - Happy New Year!

Hi there,

For my last 2019 card, I went with a pretty simple card but with a lot of glitter and sparkles to help us celebrate the new year properly.

I first started by cutting a 5,5 x 4,25 inches black panel. And I used a firework stencil by Simon Says Stamp + Gold Glitter Stickles by Ranger to create very sparkly fireworks on my panel.

When the whole panel was covered I set it aside to dry and started working on the numbers that are from the Advent Numbers digital stamp set designed by Magengo.

I wanted to use textured gold glitter paper to coordinate with the fireworks but I wasn't sure that my Scan 'n Cut would cut the numbers nicely so I printed and fussy cut them. Next I used those pieces as stencils and traced the numbers at the back of my glitter paper. And then I simply cut them.

To frame the numbers, I cut a black rectangle and a shiny white rectangle slightly bigger than the other. I layered both pieces together using foam squares, and attached the element on the firework panel.

I stuck my panel to a black card base. I white heat embossed Happy New Year on black cardstock and trimmed it to create a thin banner that I attached on my panel.

Next I adhered the numbers using foam squares, and glued gold sequins and clear droplets here and there to finish my card.

Hello Bluebird - Alice in Wonderland - Tale Series

Hello there,

After the Little Mermaid, the Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin, and the Frog King, I wanted to make a new card for my tale series. And after a quick look at my Hello Bluebird collection, and because today is actually my birthday, I thought it would be fun to create an Alice in Wonderland birthday card.

(you will find the process videos for the cards I just mentioned by clicking on the links)

I knew that my images would be colorful so I chose a dark blue cardstock for my background. But still, it needed some interest so I first started by applying chipped sapphire and black soot distress inks at the top of my panel to darken it a little bit.

To create stars (or fireflies ^^), I used three different oxide inks: tumbled glass, chipped sapphire and black soot. I mixed those inks with water and used a small brush to make splatters on the paper. And I also splattered liquid stardust on the panel for a nice touch of sparkle.

I stamped and die cut the images, and before coloring them, I cut the broom off. Next I colored the images using my alcohol markers, like always. You will find all the stamp sets I used at the end of this blog post. When it was done, I drew glasses on the white rabbit using my memento marker.

Next I cut my sentiment Make a wish out of light blue mirror cardstock. I cut it a second time using the same dark blue cardstock as the background and layered the pieces together to create dimension. When it was done, I stuck those three words at the top of my panel using liquid glue.

Next I placed and attached all the images using glue dots, foam squares and liquid glue. Finally I added the last details to my card, starting with clear shimmer on the flowers, and clear droplets here and there for an extra touch of shine.

Valentine Card Series w/ Lawn Fawn - Iceland Landscape - Center Picture Window Card

Hi there,

Today I have a center picture window card to share with you. It features the brand new Stud Puffin stamp set by Lawn Fawn and you will see that I've made a modification in the inside of the card.

I started with the card base. I cut the main panel out of Fog cardstock, as well as four rectangles out of Moonstone, Noble Fir, No. 2 Pencil and Blue Jay cardstocks.

I used Moonstone cardstock for the sky, and used different dies to cut borders out the three other rectangles: a stitched mountain border (green), a stitched simple wavy border (light brown) and an ocean border (dark blue) from the shadow box card ocean add-on die set. I added some contrast to those three borders and the card base as well using distress inks.

My idea for this card was to make a natural environment for my puffins. Those seabirds live in the North Atlantic so I thought it would be fun to recreate an Iceland landscape with colorful houses, mountains and even the volcano that has an unpronounceable name ^^

I was planning to have a whale on the front of my card so I used a small die from the Ocean Wave Accents die set to create a opening in my ocean border.

Next I stuck my borders on the front of my card base, except for the ocean border that I attached later when the coloring was done. I also stuck a Fog rectangle at the back of the card so I could write my message at the end.

For the inside I did the exact same process as before with the borders, except that instead of the ocean border, I added grassy borders.

For the inside middle section on my card, I cut a center picture panel out of Fog cardstock but didn't use the whole piece. I just cut a quarter strip out of it and used this strip as a base for my puffin little middle scene.

I folded it in half and the tabs as well using my bone folder, I applied double sided tape on the tabs, aligned the middle of this strip with the middle of my card base and I folded the tabs behind to stick the strip. To cover this strip I needed grass. So I cut a rectangle out of Cilantro cardstock and used it to cut a grassy border. I folded it in half, added mowed lawn distress ink at the top of it, and glued it on the strip.

Next I colored the images using my alcohol markers, cut them using the coordinating dies and attached everything using a combination of liquid glue and glue dots. When it was done, I stamped  birds in the sky using a small stamp from the Happy Village stamp set and also stamped the second part of my sentiment "to my stud puffin".

I wanted to add smoke coming from the chimneys so I used a coordinating die from the Happy Village stamp set to cut four smoke elements out of vellum that I glued at the top of each house. I finished the card with the first part of my sentiment. I white heat embossed the words "Sending love" on blue jay cardstock, trimmed it off to create a thin banner that I attached on the front panel of my card using glue dots.

Holiday Card Series 2019 w/ Magengo - Rudolph to the rescue

Hello there,

I'm back today with a pull tab card featuring two cuties from the Reindeer saves Christmas digital stamp set and designed by Magengo.

I started with the coloring part and like always when I work with digital stamps, I printed the images on Neenah solar white cardstock, cut them using my Scan 'n Cut machine and colored them using my spectrum noir markers.

When it was done, I fussy cut the chimney to get rid of Santa (sorry ^^) and I applied white nuvo drops at the top of the chimney, and sprinkled chunky glitter on top of it. I did the same process on the roof.

For my background I cut a large panel out of navy blue cardstock using the Snowy backdrop by Lawn Fawn, and added a little bit of black soot distress ink to darken my night sky. To have shiny stars, I attached my background to pearlescent vellum.

Next I used dies from the Let's Toast Pull Tab add-on die set by Lawn Fawn to cut a notch at the top of my panel and a slot on the chimney spot. I die cut the pull tab element as well, applied double sides tape on the small tabs and folded the score lines. I put the pull tab element through the slot at the back of the panel, and attached the sleeve at the back of it to secure the pull tab. And to totally complete the pull tab, I cut the arrow out of teal cardstock, folded it in half and stuck it at the very top of the pull tab element.

The tabs were a little bit too large so I simply trim them and attached Rudolph on those tabs. Next I applied three layers of foam tape at the bottom of my panel and around Rudolph and adhered the roof. For the chimney, I just applied double sided tape at the bottom, placed it on Rudolph and pressed the roof down to stick the elements together. And next I adhered the remaining images using foam tape and glue dots.

For the sentiment, I white heat embossed the words Special Delivery on the same paper as the arrow, and cut a banner that I attached using foam squares. I applied two layers of foam tape at the back of my panel and attached it to a white card base.

I stamped Merry Christmas inside of the card base, and finally, I added white highlights on the images and glued some clear sequins here and there.

Holiday Card Series 2019 w/ Hello Bluebird - Fairies & Unicorns

Hey there,

I'm back today with a cute and magical Christmas card featuring a holiday fairy and three elegant unicorns. The other day I was searching through my Hello Bluebird collection when I came across those unicorns and I thought they would be perfect to stand in for the reindeers.

I started by cutting a large panel out of Strathmore bristol cardstock and I used oxide inks (stormy sky, faded jeans, chipped sapphire and black soot) to create a night sky.

To create stars, I splattered water on the paper using a small brush, and now dabbed the water with a paper towel.
Fairies and unicorns are magical so I definitely needed sparkles. So I just splattered liquid stardust all over the panel to create a bunch of shiny stars. Or maybe it's fairy dust ^^ But it was still a little bit too flat so I ended up adding white drops to my panel for more contrast.

Next I gold heat embossed my sentiment "Merry Christmas" on my panel.

I used several stamp sets to make this card, I stamped them on Neenah solar white cardstock using memento tuxedo black ink and colored them using my alcohol markers. When it was done, I fussy cut the sleigh so I could replace Santa with the fairy.

I trimmed off the trees, placed the fairy and unicorns on my panel and attached them using a combination of glue dots and foam squares. One of the final step was to link each unicorn to the sleigh so I simply used silver thread to do this.

Next I colored the string of lights using a gold gel pen, and also applied clear shimmer to the unicorns tail and mane. Finally and as always I added white highlights on the images and also white blizzard nuvo drops to the lights to make them sparkle.

Valentine Card Series w/ Lawn Fawn - Flippin Awesome Love Poems

Hello there,

I'm back with another Valentine card showcasing two new Lawn Fawn stamp sets: You're just my type and Love Poems that are now available in the eshop!

I used the same color combination as the Reveal Wheel card I shared a few days ago but this time I made a Flippin Awesome card. This interactive die is just the good size for the typewriters and is also perfect to write a little love poem on each flap.

So I first started by cutting all the different papers I was going to need to built the Flippin Awesome element. Don't hesitate to check the list of supplies at the end of this post to know which papers I used.

To begin I folded the Flippin piece on the four lines that the die creates in the middle. I used my bone folder to get a crisp fold, and I folded those lines in both directions to help the mechanism work smoothly. I folded the two small tabs as well.

Next I applied double sided tape on the three strips in the middle and also on the square section. I removed the back of the tape and stuck one raspberry square on each section. And I did the same thing with the dark pink squares. To create a carpet floor, I cut half an inch strips out of light pink squares and attached them at the bottom of each dark pink square.

To add some interest to my card, I cut a scalloped rectangle using a die from the Flippin Awesome Add-on die set, and I attached on top of it a pixie dust rectangle measuring 4-3/8 by 2-5/8. This way I get a nice and sparkly contrast between the different shades of pink.

Before attaching the Flippin element to the pixie dust panel, I attached the same pattern papers as before on the inside. Those pieces were cut using a rectangle die from the Flippin Awesome Add-on die set. With those elements, I get a consistent look on the whole piece.

To attach my Flippin element on the pixie dust panel, I first applies double sided tape on the small tabs, I removed the back of the tape, folded the Flippin piece in half, hug the tabs around it, and then attach it to the panel.

Next I stamped the images on smooth white cardstock using jet black ink and colored them using my alcohol markers. When it was done, I cut the images using the coordinating dies. I also cut two hearts using dies from the Candy Hearts die set that was released last year, as well as the pull tab where I stamped the phrase Pull Here.

All the images were stuck using glue dots and liquid glue.

To add interest and texture to my card base, I cut a Quilted panel out of Ballet Slippers cardstock and attached it to a white card base. I stuck my Flippin element on this quilted background using liquid glue and stuck a banner where I white heat embossed the phrase "Just a little note to say..."

Because my card needed a little bit of shine, I cut tiny gold mirror hearts using the brand new Xoxo Backdrop Landscape die, and glued them on the flaps. And finally I applied clear glitter on the candy heart.

Holiday Card Series 2019 w/ Hello Bluebird - Light-Up Fairy Card

Hi there,

Today I am back with a new light up card featuring cute fairies by Hello Bluebird decorating their Christmas tree. I hope you'll like it.

I started by creating the background using non traditional Christmas colors: shaded lilac and spun sugar. As always, I splattered water on my panel and used a paper towel to dry it and add texture, and to create falling snow I simply splattered white paint on the paper.

The images were stamped on neenah solar white cardstock using memento tuxedo black ink and colored using my alcohol markers.

When it was done, I cut the images using the coordinating dies and white heat embossed my sentiment "Merry Wishes" on the left hand side.

Next I created the whole light circuit, and I encourage you to check the video below to see the process because it's easier to understand watching it ^^

And then I stuck the images using foam squares and glue dots. As a last final touch, and because fairies need sparkles, I glued some clear sequins and applied white blizzard nuvo drops on their wings. I also added white highlights on the images and snow on the branches.

Valentine Card Series w/ Lawn Fawn - Typewriter Reveal Wheel Card

Hey there,

The new Lawn Fawn Valentine release will be available in a few days on December 12th, and I'm very happy today to share with you this reveal wheel card showcasing the new You're just my type stamp set as well as the new Happy Heart Day Line Border die.

To start I die cut some elements: one panel reveal wheel panel, a wheel, and a small circle. To know exactly where to stamp my phrases, I taped the template on top of the wheel, and I stamp one phrase in each square, making sure to rotate the wheel each time. I also added quotation marks for more cuteness.

Next I took a small brad that I put through the small circle, and then through the back of the wheel, and I opened this brad to keep the wheel and the template together. I turned the wheel over and applied foam squares on the small circle.

But before assembling everything, I needed a base. So I cut a large stitched rectangle out of raspberry cardstock, as well as a strip of the same pattern paper as the reveal wheel panel to get a consistent look. I stuck this pink strip on the right side of the red panel, removed the back of the foam squares, aligned the wheel behind the main panel (I used the template as a guide) and then I pressed down on to the base to adhere the wheel. I closed the brad to remove the template, and reopened it to totally secure the wheel and definitely keep it in place. I stuck a bunch of foam squares on the base and all around the wheel but without touching it, and finally attached the main panel on top.

I stamped my images on smooth white cardstock using jet black ink and colored them using my alcohol markers.  When it was done, I cut the images using the coordinating dies, I also cut thin brown strips using a die from the Picket Fence border die set (to use as baseboards) and also a piece of light pink paper from the Spiffy Speckles paper pack (to use as a carpet floor)

But I still need to cut the inside of the typewriter paper using a die that is included in the You're just my type coordinating die set. Next I finally assembled everything using a combination of liquid glue, double sided tape, foam squares and glue dots.

For my sentiment, I used the new Happy Heart Day Line Border die three times with pixie dust cardstock, white cardstock and raspberry cardstock (but just to keep the heart). I layered and glued the pixie dust on to the white to add dimension, and I adhered the phrase below the desk. I added the white heart and next the red one on top.

I also die cut and attached a small arrow next to the wheel, I stuck my reveal wheel panel to a raspberry stitched rectangle that I adhered to a raspberry card base. And I never leave a card without adding last details, so I used a gel pen to add white highlights on the images, and finally I applied glossy accents on the red heart to for an extra touch of shine.

Holiday Card Series 2019 w/ Miss Ink Stamps - A Sparkly Winter Scene

Hey there,

Today's card is very shiny and sparkly, and it features the new Oh, Deer! stamp set designed by Miss Ink Stamps, as well as the Sunburst stencil from a previous release.

I first started by cutting a panel out bristol cardstock and I taped the Sunburst stencil on top of it. The idea was to create a candy cane background so I used festive berries distress ink to color my panel. When the ink was dry, I kept the stencil in place and applied glitter paste on my panel.

I stamped my images on smooth white cardstock using alcohol marker friendly black ink and cut them using my Scan 'n Cut machine.

I started with the trees. I wanted to keep them white so they would stand out on the candy cane background but still, to give them some interest I used fine glitter. I first applied liquid glue in a pretty random way, and then I sprinkled glitter on the trees.

And while the trees were drying, I colored the deers and bird using my alcohol markers. Next I assembled the card. I started by attaching my panel on a white card base using foam tape. Next I stuck a white border at the bottom to create the ground.

I stamped a sentiment from the same stamp set that says "Walking in a winter wonderland" and cut it to create a small banner, and then I attached everything using foam tape and foam squares. And as a last final touch I glued a bunch of clear sequins to add more sparkles to this card.

25 Days of Christmas Tags with Hello Bluebird

Hello there,

I'm back today with tags for the 25 days of Christmas tags event, but this time featuring some cuties from Hello Bluebird. This 25 days of Christmas tag event is organized by Tracey McNeely and a lot of craft companies are sponsoring it.

There are many ways that you can get a chance to win a prize, and you will find all the details in Tracey's blog post.

So I first started by cutting six tags out of corrugated cardstock. And next I added a lot of texture to my tags: I applied white ink on the tags to make the corrugated texture pop, next I splattered white paint to create falling snow, and when it was dry I roughly applied white paste on the edges to create a frosty look on my tags. And to bring this frosty effect out, I sprinkled glitter on the paste to make it sparkle like real snow.

While the paste was drying, I stamped and colored my images, and when the coloring was done, I cut the images using the coordinating dies.

To get a nice back for my tags I attached them on a piece of brown cardstock, and next I used my cropadile to pierce holes at the top of my tags and to add white eyelets. I cut additional tags out of pattern papers by Echo Park and added white eyelets on those elements as well.

And finally, I stuck the critters, some snowflakes and assembled the tags with ribbon, twine and small bells.
