Sunny Studio - Little Red Riding Hood Themed Card

Hello there,

I'm thrilled to be back on the Sunny Studio blog with this fun and lovely slimline scene featuring a character you might have recognized: Little Red Riding Hood. I created her using an image from Puddle Jumpers, and gave her some sweet and gentle wolf friends using images from Foxy Friends. Super fun!

I started off by stamping the images on 110lb Neenah solar white cardstock using an alcohol marker friendly black ink. For Little Red Riding Hood, I simply masked the duck details off the hood, applied the ink to the stamp, removed the washi tape and then stamped the image. I did this two or three times to get a really nice impression, cut all the images using the matching dies, and colored everything using my alcohol markers. I went for different shades of green for the trees, neutral warm grays for the wolves, turquoise the birds and of course red for Little Red Riding Hood, as well as the birdhouses for more red accents on the card.

Here is a detailed list of the stamp sets I used:  Foxy Friends - wolves, birds  Puddle Jumpers - little red riding hood  Seasonal Trees - trees, birdhouses, log  Bunnyville - grass, butterflies.

Next I cut a slimline panel out of Strathmore bristol smooth cardstock using a die from the Slimline Scalloped Frame die set, I divided it in half using washi tape, and colored both parts using oxide inks. I started with the lower section and blended mowed lawn and rustic wilderness oxide inks. I mixed some rustic wilderness oxide ink with water and used a slim brush to add splatters to the grass border. Next I moved on to the upper part, first covered the entire section with tumbled glass oxide ink, and then used a tree stencil from my stash along with broken china oxide ink to add a forest background to my scene. I splattered water on the upper section and dried the panel with a paper towel, mixed some broken china with water and added more splatters, and then mixed some copic opaque white ink with water and added white splatters all over my panel.

I added highlights and details to the images using a white gel pen, and once my panel was dry, I attached them all using 1mm and 2mm foam squares. I cut a slightly larger slimline panel out of white cardstock and attached my Little Red Riding Hood scene on top using liquid glue. I cut a scalloped panel out of yellow cardstock using another Slimline Scalloped Frame die, stuck it to an 8,5 x 3,5 inches card base using 1mm foam tape, and then attached my little scene using foam tape again because I like my cards to have dimension.

Finally I used a Brilliant Banner 1 die to cut a banner out of brown cardstock, white heat embossed "Life with you is an adventure" from Critter Campout on that banner, and attached it right above Little Red Riding Hood using foam squares again. And that's it! I've had this idea in mind for quite a while so I was very happy to finally create it and I'm glad of how it turned out. Love those little wolves so much! I hope you do too. Thanks so much for stopping by, and see you next time!
