Sunny Studio - Pull Tab Birthday Card

jeudi 10 avril 2025

Hi there,

I'm happy to be back on the Sunny Studio blog with this interactive birthday card featuring some cute pups having fun partying, and as very often I started off by stamping all the images on 110lb Neenah solar white cardstock using an alcohol marker friendly black ink. I cut them all using the matching dies, and colored everything using my alcohol markers in browns and neutrals for the dogs and a yellow + green + aqua + turquoise color palette for the balloons, banners and presents.

As always, here is a detailed list of the stamp sets I used: • Doggone Birthday - dog in the center • Party Pets - other dogs, party hats, small presents, flying balloons • Heart Bouquet - balloons on both sides • Balloon Rides - banners.

I added highlights and details to the images using a white gel pen, and next worked on my interactive panel, starting by cutting a large Stitched Rectangle panel out of a Rainbow Bright starry blue paper. I mixed broken china oxide ink with water, used a slim brush to add splatters to my panel, and did the same with copic opaque white ink.

I created the whole interactive feature using a Summer Splash green paper, and you can check this process video showing how to build such an interactive card.

Once my interactive panel was done, I attached the images using liquid glue on the interactive tab for the flying dog and balloons, as well as 1 mm and 2 mm foam squares for the balloons, banners, presents and other dogs. I love those little guys so much, they're just so stinking cute with their happy faces!

I purposely left a space right between the balloons for my sentiment, I white embossed "Have a doggone birthday" from Doggone Birthday on yellow cardstock and used a Rounded Rectangle Mat die to turn it into a small banner that I attached to my panel using liquid glue. I attached my panel to a 5,5 x 4,25 inches white panel using 1mm foam tape, and then to a white card base to finish my card.

Pretty Pink Posh - Interactive Rainbow Cake

lundi 19 février 2024

Hi there,

I'm thrilled to be sharing with you this card featuring the new Pretty Pink Posh Interactive Cake die set. I love interactive cards, they're so fun to make, so I was over the moon when this new die was released!

I started off by creating a fun rainbow background on a 5,5 x 4,25 inches Strathmore bristol smooth panel. I first applied and blended oxide inks in a clockwise direction, starting from the top left hand corner: kitsch flamingo, dried marigold, squeezed lemonade, twisted citron, salvaged patina and shaded lilac. Next I used the Birthday Words stencil and more oxide inks to bring more interest to my panel, creating a tone on tone look, using picked raspberry, spiced marmalade, mustard seed, mowed lawn, peacock feathers and wilted violet. And as always I added texture: I mixed some black soot oxide ink with water and used a small brush to make splatters all over the panel, and then did the same with copic opaque white ink.

I knew that I wanted to add multiple greetings inside the cake, but I still wanted to have a bold sentiment right above my Interactive Cake, so I cut "Celebrate" from the Gift Card Bag die set out of gold glitter cardstock and out of white cardstock. I glued the gold glitter word on top of the white one, but shifted it a tiny bit to the right to create a white border, and then attached my "Celebrate" at the very top of my panel using liquid glue.

Next I moved on to the Interactive Cake, and started off by working on the upper part. I cut the top piece out of a fun polka dot pattern paper, as well as a white circle border and multiple colored circles that I glued on the circle border in a rainbow order using liquid glue. Next I attached this border at the very top of my cake panel using 1mm foam squares, and then cut more elements such as the white pull tab and six colorful candles and lights. I attached those different pieces at the top of my cake panel: the pull tab in the center and three candles on either side. I also white heat embossed three different Sentiment Strips: Birthday greetings on colored cardstock, trimmed them into slim banners using Sentiment Strips dies, and attached them on my cake panel right below the rainbow circle border using liquid glue.

Next I moved on to the lower part of my Interactive Cake. I cut the bottom piece out of the same polka dot pattern paper as before. I also cut another white circle border, as well as colorful circles that, again, I glued on the white border in a rainbow order using liquid glue. I attached this circle border at the very bottom of my cake panel, and then cut more items such as a couple of pink scallop decorative pieces and six gold glitter hearts that I attached on the cake using 1mm foam squares.

To build my cake, I first added 1/8" (= 3mm) foam strips at the back on the bottom piece of cake, along the very left and right edges and along the very bottom edge as well, leaving the scallop shaped top edge with no foam. I placed the top piece of cake behind the bottom piece, right between the foam strips, peeled the backing papers off the foam, and attached my cake on another bottom panel I had cut before, creating this way some sort of a pocket in which the top part of the cake can slide in and slide out. The last thing I did was to add some morning dew nuvo drops on each candle to make them sparkle.

Sunny Studio - Birthday Pull Tab Card

jeudi 23 décembre 2021

Hello there,

I'm back today with an interactive card featuring a cute kitty from Christmas Critters by Sunny Studio. Obviously it's a Christmas themed stamp set, but I like to use my supplies in different ways, and today happens to be my birthday as well, so I thought it would be fun to use this Christmas themed stamp set to create a birthday card.

As always I stamped my images using an alcohol marker friendly black ink, I used the coordinating dies to cut them all, and then colored everything using my alcohol markers. And to make this card super happy and bright, I used rainbow colors to color the banners and the presents.

Chrismas critters: cat and both parts of the present
Lazy Christmas: presents
Balloon rides: banner and the party hats

After the coloring, I moved on to the background. I cut a 5-3/4 x 2-3/4 inches bristol panel, and with the colorful images, I decided to keep this background pretty neutral so I covered it with tumbled glass distress ink. I added a few drops of copic opaque white ink mixed with water, as well as splatters of tumbled glass distress ink mixed with water.

Once the panel was dry, I created the interactive feature, and I invite to click on the last image down below to watch the process video. I always easier to understand with images ^^

So once the kitty was finally in its box, I attached the other presents using foam squares, and then the banners at the top and the party hats here and there around the presents.

I stamped my sentiment "Happy Birthday" from Barnyard Buddies below the presents using black ink, and then I cut a 6 x 3 inches panel using a paper from the Rainbow Bright paper pack. I stuck this rainbow panel on top of a light blue card base, and then I attached my interactive panel on top using foam tape.

As always I added highlights and details on the images using a white gel pen, and to finish this birthday card and make it even more happy and festive, I glued a whole bunch of jewels all around the presents.

And that's it. I hope that this card will inspire you to stretch out your supplies. Don't forget the process video if you need more information. Thanks for stopping by, and I wish you a very merry Christmas. See you next time!

Lawn Fawn - Spring Bunny Slider Peek-a-Boo Card

jeudi 22 avril 2021

Hey there, I'm back with a new Lawn Fawn interactive card, and this time I used the Let's Toast Pull Tab die set to create a slider peek-a-boo mechanism. And I don't do that often, but just this once I only used die cuts to create my scene.

I die cut all my elements and colored them all just as if they were images using my alcohol markers, and next I moved on to the background. I cut a slimline panel and created a cloudy sky using a cloud stencil along with spun sugar and kitsch flamingo oxide inks to create a sweet and bright sky.

And for the bottom of my card, I used shabby shutters and mowed lawn oxide inks to create grass.

And next I added texture to my panel. On the sky section, I used spun sugar, kitsch flamingo, mustard seed and picked raspberry oxide inks, each one mixed with water, to create lots of splatters on the paper. And on the grass section I used shabby shutters and mowed lawn oxide inks mixed with water to do the same thing.

Next I created the interactive mechanism using the Let's Toast Pull Tab die set, and I invite you to watch the video below to see exactly how it was done ^^

When the mechanism was done, I assembled the basket and the flowers, as well as the bunny, using liquid glue. And then I attached those elements on my panel, and again, you can check the video below to watch the process, it's always easier to understand with images ^^

Once the basket and the bunny were glued in place, I stuck the bunny's paws to complete the basket. And then I attached the sun, the clouds and the butterfly in the top section of the panel using foam squares.

For my sentiment, I created the word Bunny using a spring plaid pattern paper along with guava letters to make the word pop on the pink cloudy background. I placed my panel in my misti tool and stamped the words 'Some' and 'loves you' using black ink, and then I attached the bunny letters to complete my sentiment.

Before attaching my panel to a card base, I needed to create a path at the back of my panel to make sure that the tab would stay straight. So I cut two thin strips of foam tape that I attached on both sides of the tab. Next I applied more foam tape all over the back of the panel, and stuck it on a slimline ballet slippers card base.

Lawn Fawn - Love Potion Pull Tab Card

mardi 2 février 2021

 Hello there,

Today, the mouse family is back, and we join them to make a love potion! As always I used a bunch of images from different sets so feel welcome to check the list of supplies below. I stamped everything using jet black ink, used the coordinating dies to cut them all, and my beloved alcohol markers to color everything.

Next I cut a 5,5 x 4,25" panel that I entirely covered with spun sugar distress ink, and used a brick stencil along with picked raspberry distress ink to create my wall. I also added texture to that background: water droplets, picked raspberry + water droplets, and white paint + water droplets.

Next I moved on to the interactive part of my card, and I invite you to watch the video below to see how it was made ^^ And when it was all built up, I attached my images using foam squares.

I wanted my sentiment to be very bold so I started by coloring a piece of paper using candied apple oxide ink, and I sent that paper to my die cut machine with the scripty love die as well as the arrow handle die from Let's toast pull tab.

I cut the word love a second time out of white foam and stuck my red love word on top, and attached my dimensional sentiment right in the middle of my panel above the big heart. I also glued the arrow at the top of the pull tab. Next I used a white gel pen to add highlights on the images, and finally I applied glossy accents on the word love to make it super shiny.

Lawn Fawn - A Relaxing Summer Pull Tab Card

jeudi 11 juin 2020

Hi there,

Today I have a cute and happy beach scene to share with you! And nothing surprising, I used a bunch of stamp and die sets to create this interactive card, so be sure to check the list of supplies below the video for more details.

I stamped all the images using jet black ink and colored everything using my alcohol markers like always.

When the coloring was done, I cut a stitched rectangle and the different borders out of strathmore bristol cardstock. I started with the stitched rectangle and used the cloudy stencil along with tumbled glass and salty ocean distress inks to create the sky.

Next, I wanted to keep the sand border simple so I used scattered straw distress ink only to color it, and I added texture by splattering scattered straw and vintage photo water drops on my paper.

Next, the ocean borders. I colored the tall one using tumbled glass and peacock feathers distress inks, and the small one using peacock feathers and blueprint sketch distress inks. Next, some texture again. First some water drops on both borders, and then I used peacock feathers and blueprint sketch distress inks mixed with water to add some darkness.

Next I moved on to the interactive part of my card.

I first started by cutting a notch out of both ocean borders, on the right side. Next I cut an horizontal slit out of the large ocean border.

I die cut the pull tab element and colored it the same way as the small ocean border, applied double sided tape on one of the tabs, and I folded those tabs. I put the tabs through the slit at the back of the ocean border, and attached a sleeve at the back of the border to keep the pull tab element in place.

I took the small remaining piece from the first ocean border, I cut an arrow out of it using the arrow handle die and I glued this element at the very end of the pull tab.

I white heat embossed my sentiment 'Have a relaxing summer' on the small ocean border.

Next I removed the backing paper off the pull tab and attached the bear. I applied foam tape on the front of the large ocean border, making sure to stay away from the pull tab mechanism, and then I attached the small border on top so that my little bear could finally swim.

At the back of that same border, I applied more foam tape, making sure one again to avoid the mechanism, and then I adhered the element to the sand border. Next I applied double sided tape at the back of that sand border and stuck it to the cloudy panel.

And then I finally moved on to the next step: attaching all the images using a combination of glue dots and foam squares. And when everything was attached, I stamped some seagulls in the sky, I added white highlights on the images and finally I attached my panel on a mermaid card base. And I also gave the fox a pair of sunglasses ^^

Lawn Fawn - Dandy Day Pull Tab Card

jeudi 27 février 2020

Hello there,

Today I'm sharing with you a pull tab card showcasing the brand new Dandy Day stamp set. This set is super cute with those sweet little mice and beautiful dandelions, and I also used some additional stamps to help me complete my scene so make sure to check the list of supplies at the end of this post if you need more details.

I cut a 5,5 x 4,25" stitched rectangle using a die from the Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables die set, and used tumbled glass distress ink and the new Cloudy stencil to create a soft sky. And I added texture by splattering the same ink on the paper using a thin brush.

To ground my scene, I cut a grass border using a die from the Simple Grassy Hillside die set and used shabby shutters and peeled paint distress inks to color it.

I stamped my images using Jet Black Ink and cut them using the coordinating dies. Images from the new Dandy Day stamp set, from the Tree Before n Afters stamp set, and from the Elphie Selfie stamp set.

I stamped my sentiment "I think you're dandy, and I'm not lion" on the grass border using Jet Black ink.

5. Next I created the pull tab mechanism using the Let's Toast Pull Tab Add-on die set. This process is easier to understand with the video so I encourage you to scroll down this post and to watch the video :-)

6. When it was done, I applied two layers of foam tape at the bottom of the panel, making sure not to touch the mouse, and I attached the grass border. Next I applied two layers of foam tape again but this time at the back of my panel that I stuck to a white card base.

7. Next I attached all the images using a combination of foam squares, Glue Dots and Liquid Glue.

8. I didn't want the mouse to go too high so I just attached dandelion sprigs right above the slit using a tiny piece of foam square.

9. Next I cut an arrow out of Sunflower cardstock and stuck at the top of the pull tab.

10. Finally, I added white nuvo drops in the center of each dandelion and flower.

Isabel Cristina Stamps - Cinderbella - Pull Tab Card

mardi 11 février 2020

Hello there,

Today's card features the gorgeous new Cinderbella digital stamp set designed by Isabel Cristina Stamps.I've made a magical interactive card and I hope you'll like it.

I started by created the background using seedless preserves, wilted violet and chipped sapphire oxide inks. I also splattered water on the panel, as well as a bunch a sparkly drops using liquid stardust by Lawn Fawn.

Like always, the images were printed on Neenah solar white cardstock and cut using my Scan 'n Cut machine. And my reference to color these images was the latest Cinderella movie with Lily James and Cate Blanchett.

To see how I created the entire pull tab mechanism, I invite you to watch the video below, it will be it's easier to understand ^^ When it was all done,  I used the arrow die to cut an arrow out of the remaining piece of purple sky and attached it at the very top of the pull tab. I applied foam squares at the back of the carriage and attached it on my panel. And then I applied foam tape at the back of the panel, making sure not to touch the pull tab mechanism, and I adhered the panel on a dark blue card base.

I attached my sentiment Make a wish above the carriage, and then I played with glitter. I applied liquid glue on the carriage where I wanted to have sparkles and I sprinkled the gold glitter on the glue.

When the messy glitter part was done, I adhered the other images, and finally I glued some crystal gems on the panel.
