Sunny Studio - Plane Awesome Slimline Card

jeudi 1 mai 2025

Hello there,

I'm so glad to be back on the Sunny Studio blog with this super colorful and extra cute card showcasing the adorable Plane Awesome stamp set. I love those adorable planes so much I decided to feature three of them on my card, so I went for a slimline design to make them fit well, and used a color palette I've used before on this Party Pets card and enjoyed it very much.

All the images are from Plane Awesome. I know: shocking, right? I'm more of a "let's use all my stamp sets on one card" kind of a card maker, but for this one, everything I needed to create my scene was already in the set. So, I started off by stamping the images on 110lb Neenah solar white cardstock using an alcohol marker friendly black ink, I cut them all using the matching dies, and then colored everything using my Ohuhu markers and my Graph'it brush, with neutrals on the critters and brights on the planes. And once the coloring was finished, I added highlights and details to the images using a white gel pen.

Next I cut a slimline panel out of Strathmore bristol smooth cardstock using a die from the Slimline Scalloped Frame die set, covered that panel with tumbled glass oxide ink first, and then used a slimline cloud stencil from my stash along with broken china oxide ink to add a cloudy pattern to my background. I splattered water all over the panel and dried it with a paper towel, mixed a bit of copic opaque white ink with water and used a slim brush to add white splatters to the panel, and then did the same with broken china, faded jeans and black soot oxide inks to add more contrast and interest to the clouds.

I cut an 8 x 3 inches white panel and attached my cloudy background to it using liquid glue. Next I cut a scalloped blue panel using another die from the Slimline Scalloped Frame die set and stuck my white panel to it using 1mm foam tape, and then I attached my scalloped blue panel to a khaki green card base using 1mm foam tape again.

I stamped "Hoping your day is just plane awesome" from Plane Awesome at the bottom of the cloudy panel using black versafine ink, attached all the images using 1mm and 2mm foam squares, and finished my card by adding glossy accents to the hearts to make them super shiny.

Pretty Pink Posh June 2024 Release IG Hop - Outer Space Slimline Card

mardi 18 juin 2024

Hello there,

Pretty Pink Posh just released a collection of products that are perfect for creating boy-themed projects. Whether you're into sports, construction, cars, or outer space products, there are plenty of fun items for your craft projects!

Make sure to check my post on Instagram and hop along to get inspired for your baby, wedding and/or graduation projects.

*****

For this Instagram Hop, I created a colorful slimline card, and mixed & matched "old" and new products, including the Outer Space stamp set and the Layered Shooting Stars stencils, both from the Pretty Pink Posh June 2024 Release to create this fun galaxy scene.

I started off by stamping all my images on 80lb Neenah solar white cardstock using an alcohol marker friendly black ink, I cut them using the matching dies, and colored everything using my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers and my Graph'it brush markers.

My card features most of the images from Outer Space, as well as the tennis ball from Sports that I turned into a small planet.

Next I cut the different pieces to build the Earth using Love From Afar dies. I colored the oceans using salvaged patina and peacock feathers oxide inks, and did the continents using mowed lawn and rustic wilderness oxide inks. I cut the continents a second time out of white cardstock, and attached the green ones on top of the white ones, but shifted them to create a white border and make the continents stand out on the oceans. I attached the continents to the oceans using liquid glue, and then stuck my Earth on a slightly larger pearlescent vellum circle using liquid glue again.

I cut an 8,5 x 3,5 Strathmore bristol smooth panel, and started off by covering it with blueprint sketch oxide ink to create a nice and even base. Next I made my background more interesting using the Layered Shooting Stars stencils along with chipped sapphire oxide ink, and added texture, starting with water droplets that I dried using a paper towel. Next I mixed black soot oxide ink with water and used a small brush to add more splatters to my panel, then did the same with copic opaque white ink, and finally used the stencils again with fairy dust paste to make my background more magical.

I attached everything on my panel using 1mm and 2mm foam squares, the Earth right in the center, and all the images on each side. I white heat embossed my "You are out of this world" greeting from Outer Space on dark gray cardstock, and trimmed it into a banner that I attached on my panel using 1mm foam squares. I added highlights and details to the images using a white gel pen, and finally applied white blizzard nuvo drops to the stars to make them all sparkle.

*****

For this blog hop, I created a bright out of this world shaker card featuring new products from the Pretty Pink Posh June 2024 Release, which are the Stitched Stars die set, and the Rocket Ship Shaker die set. This card was so fun to make, and I hope it will inspire you to create your own far away starry galaxy scene.

I started off by cutting a 5,5 x 4,25 inches Strathmore bristol smooth panel that I colored using oxide inks, inspired by the colors of Evergreen State shaker beads. I randomly applied twisted citron, salvaged patina and salty ocean oxide inks on my panel. Next I added and blended some prize ribbon oxide ink with those colors, and then applied black soot oxide ink on the four edges to darken my panel.

I splattered water all over my panel, and dried it using a paper towel. I mixed black soot oxide ink with water, and used a small brush to add more splatters to my piece of paper, and then did the same with copic opaque white ink, and with liquid stardust.

Next I cut multiple Stitched Stars out of Strathmore bristol smooth cardstock, and colored them using oxide inks. For the green stars: twisted citron and mowed lawn oxide inks, for the light blue stars: tumbled glass and salty ocean oxide inks, and for the dark blue stars: salty ocean and prize ribbon oxide inks. I mixed some black soot oxide ink with water and used my small brush to add splatters on the stars, mostly on the edges, and then did the same with copic opaque white ink.

I also cut additional Stitched Stars out of black glitter cardstock and out of pearlescent vellum. I set all my stars aside, and moved on to my Rocket Ship Shaker element. Here are the different steps to build and assemble it:

1. Cut a Rocket Ship Shaker frame out of black cardstock, cut a whole rocket ship out of acetate, and attach the frame on the acetate using liquid glue
2. Flip the piece over, and add foam strips on the rocketship's edges
3. Pour some Evergreen State shaker beads on the acetate
4. Cut another whole rocketship out of Strathmore bristol smooth cardstock, and color it using hickory smoke and black soot oxide inks
5. Peel the backing papers off the foam strips, and attach the gray rocketship to the foam to close the shaker
6. Flip the piece over, and add the decorative elements

Next I attached all my bits and pieces, Stitched Stars and Rocket Ship Shaker, on my galaxy background using 1mm and 2mm foam squares. I white heat embossed "You are out of this world" from Outer Space on dark gray cardstock, and trimmed it into a banner that I attached on the top right hand corner of my panel using foam squares again. I added a few highlights and details here and there using a white gel pen, and finished my card by gluing some Iridescent Mini Star confetti on my panel.

Lawn Fawn - Reveal Wheel Space Bedroom

mardi 16 mars 2021

 Hi there,

I'm back with a cute scene showcasing a little girl writing a presentation about her dream job. As always, I went through my entire Lawn Fawn collection to pick some cute images that I stamped on 80lbs neenah solar white cardstock using jet black ink, and colored using my alcohol markers.

When everything was colored, I created the screens for the computer. I cut a wheel out of the same paper cardstock, placed the rectangle template on top, and kept those pieces together using a brad. I used a pencil to draw the three rectangles and then stamped additional images in those three rectangles that I colored using my alcohol markers again.

Next I created the room to set my scene, and started by cutting a reveal wheel square panel + rectangle window out of sugarplum cardstock. And I wanted to have a starry wallpaper so I run the panel in my die cut machine along with the snowy backdrop die. I added a tiny bit of wilted violet distress ink on the edges to add some contrast, and then cut a second reveal wheel square panel + rectangle window out of shimmer blue cardstock, and I layered those two elements to get a cool starry wallpaper.

To ground the scene, I cut a piece of dark blue dotted cardstock using the reveal wheel square die again, and to finish that border nicely, I cut a strip out of the same paper and attached the elements at the bottom of my starry panel.

Next I assembled the pieces: I cut a small circle using a die from the reveal wheel die set and put the brad into the center of it, placed the brad into the reveal wheel at the back of it, and opened the brad to keep those elements together. I flipped the wheel over and attached 2mm foam squares on the white circle, removed the backing paper, and then placed the wheel behind the violet panel, making sure to align one of the screens with the window, and I pressed onto another sugarplum square panel to attach the wheel only on that panel. I added a bunch of 2mm foam squares all the around the wheel, and then placed the starry panel on top to finally complete the interactive part of the card.

Next I attached all my cute images on my sugarplum starry panel using liquid glue and glue dots.

Once everything was attached, I stuck my reveal wheel panel on a blue dotted panel that I stuck on a mermaid card base, and then created my sentiment with the word 'Believe' in big capital letters and the words 'in yourself' that I white heat embossed on black licorice cardstock.

I cut the word 'Believe' three times: one time out of shimmer navy blue cardstock, and two times out of blue jay cardstock. I stuck the blue jay letters together and then the shimmer ones on top to get nice dimension.

The final step was to add an arrow on the right side to tell the recipient of the card how to use it, and finally I added white highlights on the images using my white gel pen, and that's it, all done.

Isabel Cristina Stamps - Mission to Mars Pop-Up Card

vendredi 24 juillet 2020

Hi there,

Today's card features a new set designed by Isabel Cristina Stamps. It's called Space bunnies and contains a bunch of cute planets and funny bunnies ready to conquer the universe!

I started by printing most of the images. I printed them on 80lbs neenah solar white cardstock, cut them all using my scan n cut and colored everything using my alcohol markers.

When the coloring was done, I cut a 5,5 x 4,25" panel and colored it using some oxide inks: blueprint sketch, chipped sapphire and black soot. Once the ink blending was done, I created texture: first some water drops to bring brightness, and next I used the liquid stardust to create a million shiny stars. And finally I added a touch of darkness by splattering drops of black soot distress ink mixed with water.

When my panel was dry, I used stitched circle dies to create lines on my galaxy background. I placed those dies right in the center on the panel and sent everything to my die cutting machine.

For the inside of my card, I cut another 5,5 x 4,25" panel and used scattered straw, dried marigold, spiced marmalade and vintage photo distress inks. Next I splattered water drops on my panel and used the same inks mixed with water to create more texture and contrast.

Next I cut a dark brown card base and attached both of my panels: the solar system one one on the outside and the planet Mars one on the inside.

To ground my scene on Mars, I cut a hillside pop-up border that I colored using vintage photo distress ink. I covered the entire element and next I used the same ink mixed with water to add a sand and rock texture to that border.

Next I attached that pop-up border inside the card, and then I stuck all the images: the planets on the outside and the bunnies + spaceship on the inside.

For my sentiment, I first white heat embossed the words 'I love you to' and 'and back' on the remaining space I had inside the card and I cut the word Mars out of a shiny orange cardstock using the Rascal Alphabetters die set by Heffy Doodle. And I attached those letters using glue dots.

Finally I came back to the outside panel and added more sparkles to it by applying white blizzard nuvo drops here and there.

Lawn Fawn - Spatial Magic Picture Changer

samedi 9 mars 2019

Hey there,

Today I'm back with a magic picture changer card. This new die is really amazing and super easy to use. This card features some cute aliens but I've already finished another one for my new tale series and I will share it soon.

I first started by cutting a long piece of cardstock and used the large pocket piece and a pencil to mark where I needed to stamp my images.

I stamped a planet and a spaceship using Memento tuxedo black ink and my Misti tool. I wanted to blend some distress inks to create a galaxy so I chose to use Strathmore bristol cardstock. This paper helps to create a nice blending and it works very well with alcohol markers too.

I also stamped the images on masking paper that I fussy cut and then attached to the bristol panel.

Next I took another piece of bristol cardstock and used the small moving piece and a pencil to mark where I needed to stamp my images, just like before.

I took the same stamps, placed them so they would pretty much match the others and stamped them using the same black ink. I also masked them, and this time I added an alien into the spaceship. I stamped this little guy, and masked him.

For the background I die cut a stitched rectangle from bristol cardstock and used several distress inks to create the galaxy. I first applied pink raspberry, peacock feathers and wilted violet, next I applied chipped sapphire all over the panel, I also added black soot, and then I repeated this process until I was happy with the result. And I did the same thing on my stamped panels.

I also die cut a hill border that I colored using chipped sapphire and black soot distress inks. And to give it more texture I splattered drops of the same inks on top of it using a small brush.

Next I splattered water on the large galaxy panel using large and small brushes and also a tooth brush to add teeny tiny drops. And of course I did the same thing on the other panels and removed the masks so I could color the images using my spectrum noir markers.

When the coloring was done I die cut the large pocket piece and the small moving piece. I applied double sided tape on the thin tabs front and back, and folded the score lines. On the back side I removed the back of the tape and stuck the tabs down.

Next I applied powder along the tabs and on the die cut areas to help the mechanism work easily. I put the large tab into the large pocket slot. Next I put each tab through a slot and pulled the large tab to assemble and interlock everything.  Next I removed the back of the tape at the back of the pocket piece, closed it and run the mechanism a few times to make sure it was working well.

I took my galaxy background, die cut a large frame from the add-on set, and attached it on the pocket. Double sided tape in the corners and shorter sides to avoid any glue on the picture changer mechanism. Before attaching it I made sure to align the large tab with the notch on the galaxy frame.

To complete this magic picture changer I die cut a pull tab from a piece of galaxy background I had left and also a small violet glitter tab that I attached on the white tab. And next I attached the pull tab.

On a black card base, I attached the galaxy frame I had left, next the picture changer pocket using two layers of foam tape, I stamped my sentiment and then I stuck the hill border down using a bunch of adhesive squares in three layers.

I stamped additional images that I colored using the same markers as the ones used on the spaceship and attached them on the panel. And as a final touch I added some shooting stars and some stars using a white gel pen.

Le Petite Market - Space Bookmarks

samedi 24 novembre 2018

Hey there,

Today I'm sharing with you some bookmarks I made using adorable digital stamps by Le Petite Market. Their images are very unique and just so cute! Hope you'll like them as much as I do!

I first started by printing the images on Neenah solar white cardstock. My printer is an Epson xp-225 and the ink never smears even if I use alcohol markers.

Colored everything using my Spectrum Noir markers, and trying to keep the same color combo for every critter. Next I fussy cut them.

For the galaxy backgrounds, I simply applied several distress inks on a large piece of bristol smooth cardstock, splattered water and silver paint on it, and then die cut tags from it.

I also die cut dark blue glitter tags using the same that I attached at the back of each galaxy panel.

I white heat embossed a sentiment and glued a critter on each tag.

I laminated all the tags, pierced the hole on each one using my fuse tool, and added khaki ribbons to finish the bookmarks.

Craftin Desert Divas - Marbling Technique: Nail Polish

samedi 24 février 2018

Hey there,

Today I'm so excited to share with you three cards I made using a marbling technique: nail polish. It was so much fun creating these backgrounds, and in the end the results are really amazing!

Each background was made following the same process. Here it is:

1. First of all: make sure to open a window because nail polish vapors are pretty intense and bad for health. You don't want to get a terrible headache at the end!

2. Choose your favorite color of nail polish, and in a random container* filled with cold water, just pour the colored liquid directly from the bottle or from the little brush.

*you can use what you want as long as it's large enough to fit your panel ^^

3. With a pointed tool, just draw some lines in the water. The more lines you make the more marble effects you get.

4. Drop and simply plunge your panel into the water. No need to move the paper into the water. Pull it out and see the result. Isn't it awesome?

5. Now just add some elements to complete your card. As for me, I just colored different images using my zig markers, added sentiments and glued some sequins to finish the cards.
