Sunny Studio - Christmas Shaker Tags Trio

vendredi 22 novembre 2024

Hey there,

I'm super happy to be back on the Sunny Studio blog with this trio of shaker tags showcasing multiple die sets, including the Distinctive Door Holiday Add-On that I used on its own to create three mini scenes in jars.

I started off by cutting all the pieces to build the backgrounds, and each background was built following the same steps:

1. Cut a Stitched Arch panel out of Strathmore bristol smooth cardstock, and divide it in half. On the lower part, blend some tumbled glass and broken china oxide inks using a hill stencil to create a snow border. And on the upper part, blend some broken china, uncharted mariner and chipped sapphire oxide inks to create a night sky.
2. Mix some tumbled glass oxide ink with water, and add splatters to the snow border using a slim brush. Splatter water droplets on the sky, and dry them using a paper towel. Mix some chipped sapphire oxide ink with water, and add splatters to the sky. Mix some copic opaque white ink with water, and add more splatters all over the Stitched Arch panel, and then do the same with liquid stardust. Cut a small hole at the top of this panel.
3. Cut another Stitched Arch panel out of Strathmore bristol smooth cardstock, cut the bottom using a wavy die, and add the same inks and same textures as before to create a slim snow border.
4. Cut another Stitched Arch panel out of a Holiday Cheer snowflake pattern paper, and use a Ribbon & Lace Border die to cut the top of the panel. Add some uncharted mariner and chipped sapphire oxide inks on the edges, and add splatters of copic opaque white ink. Cut a small hole at the top of this panel.

I set all those elements aside to dry, and then cut all the bits and pieces out of colored cardstock. I used distress inks to add shadows and more depth to each element, and also splattered white ink to give the illusion of snow or frost on all the pieces. Here is a detailed list of the die sets I used: • Distinctive Door Holiday Add-On - trees, strings of lights, bows, piles of snow • Window Quad Circle - poinsettias • Rustic Winter - deer • Comic Strip Everyday - car, house.

I assembled a few of the pieces to build the car, house, poinsettias, etc. and then created the jars using Summer Jar Mug dies. And once again, each jar was built following the same steps:

1. Cut a jar frame out of holographic cardstock and cut the handle off.
2. Cut a whole jar out of acetate, and stick it at the back of the jar frame using liquid glue.
3. Still at the back of the frame, add foam strips all around the jar, following the curved edges.
4. Cut another whole jar out of vellum, and attach trees and a main focal object (house, car or deer) using liquid glue.
5. Sprinkle a few White Snowflake confetti on the die-cut pieces.
6. Peel the backing papers off the foam strips at the back of the jar frame, and attach the jar frame to the vellum frame to close the jar.
7. Cut another jar out of light brown woodgrain cardstock, trim the lid off and add some vintage photo distress ink on the edges to darken it, add copic opaque white ink splatters, and stick the lid to the holographic shaker jar.
8. Glue a pile of snow on one side of the jar using liquid glue.
9. Tie some golden thread around the lid.

Next I cut three different banners out of dark blue cardstock using Brilliant Banner 1Brilliant Banner 2 and Brilliant Banner 3, and silver heat embossed a greeting on each banner. "Sweet" is from Christmas Cookie, "Have a... holiday season" is from Santa Claus Lane, and the whole thing reads "Have a sweet holiday season". To make those banners pop on the tag, I used the same dies to cut the banners a second time out of holographic cardstock, and I layered each banner with its twin using 1mm foam squares.

Next I finally assembled and attached everything on my Stitched Arch panels. I first glued the jar using liquid glue, and then the slim snowy hill using 2mm foam squares. I attached the straight string of lights at the back of the topper element using liquid glue, and then stuck the topper piece using 1mm foam squares. Attached a banner between the jar and string of lights, added a poinsettia and a Christmas tree, cut one last Stitched Arch panel out of white cardstock, cut a hole at the top of this panel, attached it at the back of the tag to finish it nicely, and cut a white eyelet using a Mini Mat & Tag 4 die that I glued at the top of the tag.

For the last details, I glued a white pearl in the middle of each poinsettia, a tiny confetti star at the top of each Christmas tree, applied white blizzard nuvo drops to the lights, tied a double bow that I attached below each eyelet, and finally added a handle using some slim silver ribbon from my stash.

Lawn Fawn - Monochromatic Frosty Family Shaker Card

jeudi 21 novembre 2024

Hello there,

I'm very happy to be back on the Lawn Fawn YouTube Channel & Blog with this new holiday card showcasing the adorable Frosty Family and Frosty Family Add-On. I went for a whole monochromatic minty look and created a shaker card for more fun and festivity.

I started off by stamping the images on 110lb Neenah solar white cardstock using Jet Black ink. I cut them all using the coordinating dies, and colored everything using my Ohuhu markers.

Here is a detailed list of the stamp sets I used:  Frosty Family & Frosty Family Add-On - snow people, hats, scarves, arms, small sentiments  Winter Birds - piles of snow, birds  All The Speech Bubbles - speech bubbles.

At the back of the frame, I added double sided tape on the four edges, attached the acetate panel, and added foam strips on the four edges. I used my powder tool to make the sides of the foam strips non sticky, pour some sequins and snowflake confetti on the acetate, and then attached the remaining panel to the foam strips to totally close the shaker panel.

For my greeting, I cut two Giant Merry Christmas out of two different Textured Canvas Aqua papers, another one out of Pixie Dust cardstock, and I layered the aqua pieces on top of each other. Next I used a Stitched Simple Wavy border die to cut the tops of the pixie dust letters, and attached those glitter white pieces on the aqua Giant Merry Christmas using liquid glue.

I attached my greeting on the upper part of my shaker panel using 1mm foam squares, and then the images right below using foam squares as well. I added highlights and details to the images using a white gel pen, and for an extra sparkling touch, I added liquid glue on the snow people mostly, sprinkled Prisma glitter on the glue, and let it dry for a cool frosty effect.

Freakin' Cute Stamps - Chatouille

samedi 16 novembre 2024

Hi there,

I'm so happy to be back with the third and final card I've made as a guest designer for Freakin' Cute Stamps. My first card features Pedro, the second one Citrouille, and on today we meet the ever so sweet Chatouille. Here are a few words about her:

Chatouille is the cutest little mouse who has a serious obsession with flowers and leaves! She can often be spotted frolicking through the forest, armed with a tiny basket, on a mission to find the perfect plants to create the most beautiful bouquets, wreaths, and even adorable veggie ornaments! So, if you ever stumble upon a trail of petals and veggies during one of your strolls, keep an eye open : you may catch sight of our adorable Chatouille.

I printed Chatouille and two flower baskets on 80lb Neenah solar white cardstock, as well as two fences from Button, Teacup and Truffle, I cut the images using my scan 'n cut machine, and colored them using my Ohuhu markers and Graph'it brush markers.

For my background, I cut a 5,25 x 4 inches Strathmore bristol smooth panel that I stenciled using distress inks. On the upper part, I created a cloudy sky using a cloud stencil from my stash along with salvaged patina and peacock feathers distress inks. And on the lower part, I created a hill border using a hillside stencil from my stash along with peeled paint and forest moss distress ink.

I stuck my panel to a 5,5 x 4,25 inches brown panel using double sided tape, and then the images using 1mm and 2mm foam squares. For my greeting, I cut a wavy banner out of dark brown cardstock, white heat embossed "Wishing you a very sweet day" and attached it Chatouille using foam squares. And as always I finished my card with highlights and details on the images using a white gel pen.

Sunny Studio - Holly Jolly Christmas Card

vendredi 15 novembre 2024

Hello there,

I'm happy to be back on the Sunny Studio blog with this new super duper colorful Christmas card showcasing the lovely Toasty Hugs characters, as well as some of my all time favorite stamps from Scenic Route, and a color palette I've never used on a holiday card before, or even used at all.

As very often, I started off by stamping my images on 110lb Neenah solar white cardstock using an alcohol marker friendly black ink. I cut them all using the matching dies, and colored everything using my Ohuhu markers and Graph'it brush markers.

Here is a detailed list of the stamp sets I used: • Toasty Hugs - boy and girl • Scenic Route - strings of lights, houses • Cozy Christmas - Christmas tree, present • Santa Claus Lane - presents • Reindeer Games - reindeers • Snowmen In Sweaters - snowflakes, trees.

Next I cut a 5,5 x 4,25 inches Strathmore bristol smooth panel that I colored using oxide inks. On the top part I blended some shaded lilac, wilted violet and villainous potion. I splattered water droplets on the sky, and dried the cardstock using a paper towel. I mixed some villainous potion oxide ink with water, and used a slim brush to add splatters to my sky. On the bottom part I applied tumbled glass and peacock feathers oxide inks. I mixed some tumbled glass with water, and used my slim brush again to add splatters on the panel. Next I mixed some copic opaque white ink with water, and added splatters all over my panel, and I did the same with liquid stardust.

Once my panel was dry, I stamped "Wishing you a holly jolly Christmas" from Santa Claus Lane at the bottom of my panel using black versafine ink, and then I attached all the images using 1mm and 2mm foam squares. For the last details, I added highlights on the images using a white gel pen and a dot of glossy accents on all the lights. And I wanted the snow on the trees and roofs to be sparkling, so I added liquid glue on those spots, sprinkled fine glitter, let the glue dry, and then went over the whole panel with a fluffy brush to get rid of the excess glitter.

Freakin' Cute Stamps - Citrouille

dimanche 10 novembre 2024

Hello there,

I'm back with the second card I've made as a guest designer for Freakin' Cute Stamps. This one features the adorable Citrouille, and just like my first card I made with Pedro, I used brown, yellow, green and turquoise shades to match with the current autumn season.

Here is a quick intro about the lovely Citrouille:

If you're in need of some gourdgeous decorations, Citrouille's place is where it's at! Born in a patch of pumpkins, Citrouille possesses an uncanny knack for sniffing out the most charming squash specimens to spruce up your space.

I printed Citrouille on 80lb Neenah solar white cardstock, as well as two fences from Button, Teacup and Truffle , cut the images using my Scan 'n Cut machine, and colored everything using my Ohuhu markers and my Graph'it brush markers.

For my greeting, I cut a wavy banner out of dark brown cardstock, white heat embossed "Wishing you a very sweet day" and attached it below Citrouille using foam squares. And as always I finished my card with highlights and details on the images using a white gel pen.
