Lawn Fawn - Magic Iris Pirate Cave Card

Hello there,

I am back with a new Magic Iris card featuring two cute pirates searching for a treasure hidden in a secret cave. I hope you'll like it.



I cut my front panel using the cover plate die from the add-on and I kept the circle in place using washi tape. And I wanted to change from my three previous Magic Iris cards so I turned the panel to create a landscape layout.



I started by covering the whole panel using vintage photo distress ink, and then I added ground espresso distress ink starting from the circle towards the outside edges of it. But it wasn't dark enough to me, so I added a little bit of black soot distress ink, but just on the circle, I didn't go outside the edges.

I protected the circle and next I splattered water on the paper to add some texture to this plain background. I dried the water using a paper towel, and next I added more texture. I smooshed my vintage photo and ground espresso ink pads onto my glass surface, I added water and then I used a thin brush to splatter the whole panel and this way bring more contrast and interest.

And I did the exact same thing on the arrow tab. Same inks, same texture.



To ground my scene, I decided to create dirt borders. So I die cut two wavy borders and started by applying antique linen distress ink on both pieces, next I added vintage photo but just at the top and blended it into the antique linen base. A little bit of texture on those borders: adding ink splatters would have been too much in my opinion so I simply splattered drops of water.

The cave needed a door or something, it just couldn't be a whole coming from nowhere so I cut five strips out of woodgrain cardstock to create planks and colored them using antique linen and vintage photo distress inks.

Next I moved on to the magic iris and I encourage you to watch the video below to see the process ^^



Before assembling everything, I noticed that the iris wasn't dark enough compared to the front panel so I simply added a little bit of black soot to fix it. Next I applied liquid glue at the back of the arrow tab, attached it on the iris tab, and finally trimmed off the little piece of tab that was peeking out.

Next I applied double sided tape on the stabilizers, as well as liquid glue on the rest of the ring, I kept the iris closed and placed the circle behind the front panel. I made sure that everything was aligned: the middle circle and the arrow tab, and I pressed down to adhere everything perfectly.

Next I cut a 5,25 x 4" panel out of Sunflower cardstock, I placed the front panel on top of it and tucked the circle in the middle. I kept the Iris open, applied a whole bunch of foam adhesive at the back of the front panel, and then I stuck it to the sunflower panel.

I cut a 5,5 x 4,25" Stitched rectangle out of peacock cardstock, I glued this panel on a ground espresso card base and then I stuck the sunflower panel on it using double sided tape.



I stamped my sentiment "Happy Birthday" on one of the borders using jet black ink, and next I attached the two borders. The first one using double sided tape and the second one using foam adhesive to bring more dimension to the scene.

And then I finally attached the wood planks all around the iris using glue dots.

I stamped the images using jet black ink, colored them using alcohol markers, cut everything using the coordinating dies, and attached the images using a combination of glue dots, liquid glue and foam adhesive. Finally, I added white nuvo drops in the center of the three flowers.

Miss Ink Stamps - Painting the Roses Pop-Up Card

Hello there,

Today I'm very happy to be guest designing for Miss Ink Stamps. They have a brand new release which theme is Alice in Wonderland, the stamps are really amazing and the whole release is now available!

For today's card, I used two sets: "Queen Of Hearts" and "Painting The Roses Red". I also wanted to create my own pop up card so I started by cutting a 4 x 8" panel that I scored in half to get a 4 x 4" card base.



On one side I used a cloud stencil along with tumbled glass distress ink to create a pretty cloudy sky. And on the other side, I used shabby shutters and mowed lawn distress inks to create grass. Next I die cut two grass borders that I colored using the same green inks, and attached one of them directly at the bottom of the cloud side.



To create the pop-up interactive part, I first started by cutting three strips:

- two strips measuring 4 x 1-1/2" that I scored at: 1/2" ; 2" ; 2-1/2"

- one strip measuring 4 x 3/4" that I scored it at 1/2" ; 2" ; 2-1/2"

And to match the card, I colored those elements using shabby shutters distress ink, and then I folded the score lines. I stuck the two largest elements, and adhered the second grass border on those elements. And I did the same thing with the third pop-up element. Please watch the video below to see the process ^^



Next I stamped the images using memento tuxedo black ink, I cut them using my Scan 'n Cut machine and then colored them using my alcohol markers. When it was done, I added white highlights on the images and next I attached them on my card. 

To make the whole thing prettier, I created a simple pocket using a cute heart paper, and I decorated it on the front using the white bunny, and a red bow.

Isabel Cristina Stamps - It's a Girl Magic Iris Card

Hi there,everyone, 

Today's card features the new It's a boy/it's a girl digital stamp set designed by Isabel Cristina Stamps. And it's a magic Iris card because I thought this die was just perfect to reveal baby's gender.

I started by cutting all the pieces using the Magic Iris die set and add-on by Lawn Fawn, and I built the Magic Iris. Please watch the video at the end of this article to see the process, it's easier to understand with images ^^

When the Magic Iris was done, I applied double sided tape on the stabilizers and liquid glue on the rest of the ring, I kept the Iris closed, and placed the Magic Iris behind the front panel, making sure to line up both the circle in the middle and the arrow tab at the top right hand corner, and I pressed down to connect the elements perfectly.

Next I cut a card base out of cream cardstock and also a stitched rectangle out of a pink pattern paper. I started by attaching the pink pattern paper on the card base, next I temporarily taped the front panel to the card base, I applied liquid glue at the back of my sentiment and I tucked it right in the middle of the front panel.

I removed the washi tape, and applied a bunch of foam squares at the back of the front panel that I finally attached on the card base.

To decorate my little scene, I started by cutting birch trees out of white woodgrain cardstock that I colored using vintage photo distress ink. I also cut a grass border and a cloud border that I will use as foliage, and colored both elements using shabby shutters and peeled paint distress inks. I attached the borders using double sided tape, as well as the birch trees using liquid glue.

Like always, I printed my images on neenah solar white cardstock using my Epson printer, I cut them using my Scan 'n Cut and colored everything using my spectrum noir markers. And when the coloring was done, I attached the images using foam squares. For the flowers, I started by giving them a little bit of dimension and then I stuck then using liquid glue.

For a little touch of sparkle, I added a few clear sequins here and there, and finally I added yellow nuvo drops in the center of each flower.

Lawn Fawn - Easter Bunnies Magic Picture Changer Card

Hello there,

Today I'm sharing with you a cute and colorful Magic Picture Changer Card showcasing the Easter Before 'n Afters stamp set. I also used the bunny from the Say What? Spring Critters stamp set, as well as a few other sets so make sure to check the list of supplies at the end of this article for more information.

When I make a magic picture changer card, I like to start with the background. So I cut a 5,5 x 4,25" stitched rectangle out of bristol cardstock and used tumbled glass and salty ocean distress inks to create a beautiful spring sky.

Next I created the magic picture changer element. I cut two pieces of bristol cardstock: a long one for the pocket die and a short one for the moving piece die.

I used a pencil to mark the windows and next I stamped the images using jet black ink. I cut masks for those images using the coordinating dies, and then colored around the masks using tumbled glass distress ink again.

I removed the masks and then colored both images using my alcohol markers. When the coloring was done, I added white highlights on the images, taped the dies and cut the pocket panel and moving piece.

I folded the pocket tabs and used my bone folder to flatten them really well. Next I applied double sided to those tabs, front and back, removed the backing paper from the back of the panel, and folded the tabs. I folded the pocket panel in half, put the moving piece inside the pocket panel through the slit, and next put each flap into a small slit. I pulled on the tab to interlock the pocket and the moving pieces, next I added powder on the flaps and along the tabs as well, I removed the backing paper and finally closed the pocket.

To frame the pocket, I used the frame die from the add-on to cut a frame out of the distress ink panel I made at the beginning. I applied double sided on the four edges of the frame, removed the backing  paper and stuck it to the pocket.

Next I cut a white card base and trimmed off the remaining pieces of the distress ink panel to create two large strips that I stuck on the card base, along with the pocket element.

To ground my scene I cut two grassy hillsides that I colored using shabby shutters and mowed Lawn distress inks. Next I created my sentiment in two parts: I white heat embossed a speech bubble saying "Happy Easter" on vellum, and also stamped "To some bunny special" on the smaller grass border.

Next I applied double sided tape below the bunny as well as foam squares and attached the larger grass border. I stuck the second border using foam squares again, and stick the vellum speech bubble using clear dimensional squares.

I stamped and colored additional images that I stuck using a combination of glue dots, liquid glue and foam squares for dimension. One of the last steps was to add a handle to the pull tab. I cut it out of sticky note cardstock and attached it at the top of the tab. And I cut the handle a second time out of guava cardstock but kept the arrow only.

I wanted to keep the butterflies white but only white was a little bit boring so finally I added white blizzard nuvo drops to their wings to make them shine.

Lawn Fawn - Super Star Magic Iris Card

Hey there,

I am back with a new Magic Iris card showcasing the Super Star stamp set. There is a cute little mouse in this new set but I wanted to have more mice on my card so I gathered some other stamp sets to help me to create a sweet mice family. Make sure to check the list of supplies at the end of this article for more details.



So I started by cutting the front panel out of bristol cardstock using the cover plate die from the Magic Iris add-on die set. I temporarily kept the middle circle in place by taping it at the back using washi tape, and to create a nice and dark night sky, I used salty ocean, blueprint sketch, chipped sapphire and black soot oxide inks.

Next I added three different types of texture. First, some water drops that I dried using a paper towel. Second, I smooshed the black soot ink pad onto my work surface, mixed it with water and then created drops on the panel using a thin brush. And third, I created a bunch of shiny stars using liquid stardust.



To ground my scene, I cut a grass border using the cover plate die first and then a die from the Simple Grassy Hillsides die set. And because my scene takes place during the night, I used dark green oxide inks to color the grass border: peeled paint and forest moss. And I also added forest moss splatters on the border to create texture.



Next I created the Magic Iris, and I encourage you to watch the video below to see how I built it. It's way easier to understand with images than with words ^^

When the Magic Iris was done, I white heat embossed my sentiment "I thank my lucky star for you" right on the middle circle of the front panel.

Next I cut a rectangle out of Peacock cardstock (slightly larger than the front panel) and I attached the circle on that peacock panel using the front panel as a guide.



I applied double sided tape and liquid glue on the Magic Iris stabilizers, I kept the iris closed, and placed it behind the front panel. I lined up both the circle in the middle and the arrow at the top right hand corner, and I press down to adhere everything.

Next I put a bunch of foam squares at the back of the front panel, I opened the iris and next attached the panel to the peacock rectangle. I stuck the grass border at the bottom of the panel using foam squares again, and then I attached the Magic Iris panel to a black card base.



My images were stamped using jet black ink, and colored using alcohol markers. When the coloring was done, I cut everything using the coordinating dies, and I cut two additional clouds using coordinating dies from the Yay, Kites! stamp set and added a little bit of shadows to them using a grey marker.

Next I assembled some of the images and then attached everything using glue dots and also foam squares for dimension. And finally, I added clear shimmer on the stars.

Lawn Fawn - Black Swan Magic Picture Changer Card

Hello there,

Today I'm sharing with you a Magic Picture Changer card showcasing the beautiful Swan Soiree stamp set. This new set is really gorgeous and those swans definitely called for a Swan Lake themed card!

I started with a 5,5 x 4,25" stitched bristol panel, and I used peacock feathers, blueprint sketch and chipped sapphire oxide inks to create a beautiful and magical night sky. I never leave a background without adding details, so first I splattered water on the paper using a thin brush to create a bunch of fireflies. Next I added drops of chipped sapphire oxide ink, mostly on the edges to keep a nice and bright halo in the middle. And finally I used liquid stardust to create shiny stars.

Next I created the magic picture changer element. I started by cutting two pieces of bristol cardstock: a long panel for the pocket die and a small panel for the moving die.

I marked the windows using a pencil and next I stamped the swans using jet black ink. I masked the swans and then used peacock feathers oxide ink to color around those swans. I colored the images and next I die cut the pocket panel and moving piece.

I added double sided tape to the pocket tabs, front and back. I folded the pocket in half, as well as the tabs, next I removed the backing paper on the inside and attached the tabs. I used my bone folder to press down onto the tabs and also on the flaps to flatten them, this will help the mechanism to work nicely.

Like always I applied a lot of powder on the flaps and along the tabs, next I folded the pocket in half and put the moving piece through the slit, and then I put each flap into a small slit. Feel welcome to watch the video at the end of this article, it's easier to understand with images ^^

Next I pull on the tab to interlock the pocket and moving pieces, I apply more powder on the flaps, remove the backing paper and finally closed the pocket.

Next I used the frame die from the add-on to cut a frame for my pocket out of the oxide ink panel. I apply double sided tape on the four edges of that frame and attached it on the pocket.

To pull the tab, I cut the handle out of blue jay cardstock and stuck it at the very top of the tab. Next I trimmed off the remaining pieces of the oxide ink panel and attached them to a blue jay card base, along with the magic picture changer pocket.

The swans needed water to swim so I cut a stitched rectangle out of mermaid cardstock. And from this rectangle I cut a stitched simple wavy border. I applied a teeny tiny bit of peacock feathers distress ink on the waves, splattered drops of that same ink on the border and stuck it to the panel.

I cut a rectangle out of peacock cardstock, and from this rectangle I cut a grassy border where I white heat embossed my sentiment "Life is magical with you". The words "Life is" and "With you" are from the Swan Soiree stamp set and the word "Magical" is from the Fairy Friends stamp set.

I added a little bit of blueprint sketch distress ink on the grass and then attached it at the bottom of my panel using foam squares.

Next I stamped additional images using jet black ink, I colored them using my alcohol markers, and cut them using the coordinating dies. When the coloring was done I stuck everything using a combination of liquid glue, foam squares and glue dots, and finally and to emphasize the magic I added clear shimmer to the stars.

Hello Bluebird - Stretch Your Supplies To Create A Cute Scene

Hi there,

A few days ago, I shared this card inspired by Canadian landscapes, so today we're going to zoom into this scene and get a close up at the cabin!

(this card was also inspired by a card Keiko made last year)

I started by cutting a frame out white woodgrain cardstock using the Gallery Frame #3. I only kept the middle part that I trimmed to get a 2 x 2 square window, and colored it using vintage photo and ground espresso distress inks.

To create the wood planks, I first applied vintage photo distress ink on a 4-1/4" wide woodgrain panel and cut 2cm strips out of it. I used ground espresso distress ink again to darken the edges of the planks, and attached them on a kraft card base to create a wall.

Next I cut a grass border out of white smooth cardstock using a die from the Grassy Knoll die set, colored it using peeled paint and forest moss distress inks, and created texture on that border by splattering drops of forest moss distress ink. I also used a scallop die from the Basic Borders die set to cut the roof out of brown cardstock, used ground espresso distress ink to darken the edges, and then splattered drops of that same ink on the border to create texture. And I did that on the wood planks and window as well to get a consistent look on the entire card.

I attached those two borders using foam squares and double sided tape, and next I moved on to the coloring part. Everything was stamped using alcohol marker friendly ink, cut using the coordinating dies, and colored using Spectrum Noir markers. I used quite a lot of stamp sets on this card so make sure to check the list of supplies at the end of this article if you need more details.

When the coloring was done, I cut pointy shapes using the Vertical Banner die set to create curtains. Next I cut a piece of wood pattern paper from my stash and applied vintage photo distress ink to darken it a little bit. And then I assembled the window: I attached the curtains at the back of the window frame, adhered the images at the bottom of the wood pattern paper using glue dots, I stuck the window frame on top using foam squares to bring dimension, and finally I attached the entire window element in the middle of my wood plank panel using liquid glue.

Next I stuck some of the remaining images on the grass border, and then created my sentiment. I white heat embossed the word "Hello!" from the Silly Birds stamp set and cut it using a bubble speech die from the Photo Stack die set. I applied a tiny little bit of vintage photo distress ink on the edges and attached it above the cat using foam squares.

And finally, I stuck the last images and added white nuvo drops in the center of the flowers. And that's it! I hope that you like this sweet little scene. It already feels like Spring, right? I leave you with the video (click on the image below) and I wish you a very nice day!

Lawn Fawn - A Magic Picture Changer Garden

Hello there,

Today I'm back with a new Magic Picture Changer card showcasing the new A Bug Deal stamp set. I used a bunch of stamp and die sets to create this little garden scene so make sure to check the list of supplies below the video at the end of this article for more details.



I first started by creating the sky panel using scattered straw, dried marigold and spiced marmalade distress inks. Like always, I added water drops that I dried using a paper towel. And I created more drops by mixing dried marigold and spiced marmalade distress ink with water.



Next I created the Magic Picture Changer element. So I started by cutting two pieces of strathmore bristol cardstock. A long panel for the pocket element and a small panel for the moving piece. I used a pencil to mark the window spots and next I stamped the images: on the long panel, I stamped the branch and the chrysalis using jet black ink, and on the small panel, I stamped the branch again, the butterfly and also a tiny sentiment "Hey Love Bug".

I masked those tiny images and used the same inks as before to color both panels. I removed the masks and colored the images using my alcohol markers.



When the coloring was done, I taped the dies on the panels, making sure to align the windows with the branches, and I sent everything to my die cutting machine.

Next I applied double sided tape on the thin tabs of the pocket piece, front and back, and I folded the panel in half as well as the tabs. And I also rubbed the flaps using a bone folder, this will help the mechanism to work nicely.

I removed the backing paper from the back of the thin tabs, and folded those tabs to attach them. Next I put the moving piece inside the pocket panel through the slit and I put each flaps into a small slit like so. I applied a lot of powder on the flaps and along the tabs, I lined up the moving between the tabs, removed the backing paper, and folded the main panel to finally close the pocket.

Next I took the frame die from the Magic Picture Changer add-on set and cut a frame out of my sky panel. I applied thin double sided tape on the four edges of the frame and attached it on the pocket, making sure one more time to line up the notch with the tab.

Next I assembled the background. I first attached the remaining strip from the sky panel at the top of the card base and then the Magic Picture Changer pocket right below the strip using double sided tape.



For the bottom of my card, I wanted to create a garden, so I started by cutting a cloud border that I will use as bushes, and also a wavy border that will be a soil border. I used vintage photo and ground espresso distress inks to color the wavy border, and peeled paint and forest moss distress inks to color the cloud border. I also cut a fence out of white woodgrain cardstock and applied a little bit of hickory smoke distress ink on top of it to make it less new and clean.

I attached the cloud/bushes border, next the picket fence and then the wavy/dirt border at the bottom of my panel.

The images were stamped using jet black ink, cut using the coordinating dies and colored using alcohol markers. When it was done, I attached everything using liquid glue, glue dots. And I also stamped my sentiment "Happy Birthday" from the A Bug Deal stamp set on the sign image.



Finally I cut the tab handle out of raspberry cardstock and attached it at the end of the pull tab, and I added white nuvo drops in the center of the flowers and mushrooms.
