[IG HOP DAY 5] Pretty Pink Posh - Seashell Shaker & Stitched Seashells

I went for an underwater monochromatic blue slimline card to showcase the gorgeous Seashell Shaker and beautiful Stitched Seashells. And I also used holographic cardstock and glitter to make my scene even more magical.

I started off by creating the background and cut a slimline panel out of Strathmore bristol smooth cardstock using the largest die from the Slimline Peekaboo Windows die set. I masked the stitched edges off with washi tape and covered the whole panel with salvaged patina oxide ink. Next I added a beautiful coral pattern to my panel using the Layered Coral stencil set. With stencil #1 I applied peacock feathers oxide ink with a light hand, and with stencil #2 I applied the same ink but with a heavier hand to make the coral details stand out.

I splattered water all over the panel and dried it with a paper towel, I mixed some copic opaque white ink with water and used a slim brush to add white splatters to my panel, and then I did the same with peacock feathers oxide ink and with prize ribbon oxide ink to bring a little bit more contrast. I also mixed a couple of liquid stardust droplets with water, and added more splatters to make my underwater themed card shine.

I peeled the washi tape off, and when it was dry I attached my panel to an 8,5 x 3,5 inches dark blue panel using liquid glue, and then the whole thing to a matching card base using liquid glue as well.

Next I worked on my Seashell Shaker, and here are the steps I followed to create it:

1. Cut a Seashell Shaker frame out of holographic cardstock using both dies from the set

2. Cut a whole seashell out of acetate, and attached the holographic frame to it using liquid glue

3. Flipped my panel over, and added 2mm foam strips all around the seashell, following the rounded shape, and on the middle strips as well, creating seven different sections

4. Poured some of the Beach Town mix inside each section 

5. Peeled the backing papers off the foam strips

6. Cut a whole Seashell Shaker panel out of pattern paper, and stuck that panel to the foam strips to totally close the Seashell Shaker

I cut the Stitched Seashells, some out of colored cardstock and some out of pattern paper. I picked matching distress inks, applied ink to each colored cardstock piece to darken them a bit, and I mixed those same inks with water and added matching splatters to my Stitched Seashells. Next I mixed white ink with water and added splatters to all the pieces, colored cardstock ones and pattern paper ones.

I cut smaller seashells out of colored cardstock using Seashell Border dies, did the same process as before to add texture to each element, also used matching dies from Baby Animals and Birthday Dogs & Cats to cut several fish out white glitter cardstock, and then I finally assembled everything on my Layered Coral slimline background. I started by sticking the Stitched Seashells using 1mm foam squares, next the Seashell Shaker using 2mm foam squares, and then the cute sparkling fish. 

For my greetings, I first white heat embossed "You are spe-shell" from Seashells on dark aqua cardstock, cut it using the coordinating die, and attached it to the Seashell Shaker using 2mm foam squares. I also white heat embossed "Enjoy your day" from Sentiment Strips: Summer on light aqua cardstock, trimmed it into a slim banner using a Sentiment Strips die, and stuck it right below the first greeting using foam squares. To finish card, I gave each fish an eye using Charcoal pearls, and applied white blizzard nuvo drops on the seashells to make them super shiny and make my underwater scene even more magical.
