Sunny Studio - Christmas With The Mouse Family

Hello there,

I'm so happy to be back on the Sunny Studio blog with this holiday card featuring the mouse family again. This time, they're back for a Christmas adventure, whether they're busy decorating the tree, or enjoying some quiet time by the fireplace, or delivering presents larger than the chimney pipe! I love how this slimline card turned out, and how we get three mini scenes on one single card.

As very often, I started off by stamping all the images on 110lb Neenah solar white cardstock using an alcohol marker friendly black ink. I cut them all using the matching dies, and colored everything using my Ohuhu markers and my Graph'it brush markers.

Here is a detailed list of the stamp sets I used: • Cozy Christmas - armchairs, Christmas tree, cushions, lamp, glass of milk, presents • Santa Claus Lane - fireplace, chimney, stockings, sleigh, presents, baubles • Christmas Critters - mouse, reindeer antlers • Lazy Christmas - large presents • Merry Mice - mice, hat • Beach Bus - mouse • North Pole - cookie plate, presents • Harvest Mice - mouse.

Next I cut an 8,5 x 3,5 inches Strathmore bristol smooth panel that I divided in different sections, from bottom to top: floor, wallpaper, roof and sky. I started off with the floor, and created a base first using antique linen oxide ink. And to make a parquet floor, I used the Straight Stripes stencil along with vintage photo oxide ink to create a wood plank pattern. For the wallpaper, I did a base first using saltwater taffy oxide ink, and I used the Diagonal Stripes stencil along with worn lipstick oxide ink to add a nice pattern to my wall. I kept the roof simple, and did a 1/4" separation stripe using hickory smoke and black soot oxide inks. And finally I did the sky using salty ocean, prize ribbon and black soot oxide inks.

As always, I added texture to my background. I mixed some vintage photo oxide ink with water, and added splatters to the parquet floor. Mixed some worn lipstick oxide ink with water, and added splatters to the wall. Splattered water on the sky and dried the paper with a paper towel. Mixed some chipped sapphire oxide ink with water, added more splatters to the sky, and did the same with liquid stardust. Finally, I mixed some copic opaque white ink with water, and added white splatters all over the panel.

Once the panel was dry, I white heat embossed "Merry Christmouse" from Merry Mice at the very bottom, and attached all the images using 1mm and 2mm foam squares. Added highlights and details to the images using a white gelly roll pen, a dot of glossy accents on the berries on the wall and lights in the tree, and to make the snow on the chimney sparkle, I added liquid glue, sprinkled fine glitter on the glue, let it dry and removed the excess of glitter with a fluffy brush.

Pretty Pink Posh - Rainbow Christmas Fun

I'm so happy to be back with this super fun and very colorful slimline card featuring the cutest Pretty Pink Posh Christmas trees celebrating the holiday season. When it comes to making holiday cards, I don't particularly have a favorite color palette, I like the traditional red and green, pastels, and even rainbow, like today's card, for some extra fun.

I started off by cutting a Strathmore bristol smooth panel using the largest Slimline Peekaboo Windows die, and I colored that panel with oxide inks. When I make rainbow cards, I like to create tone on tone looks using my favorite oxide inks, so I first blended a base using, from left to right, kitsch flamingo, dried marigold, squeezed lemonade, twisted citron and salvaged patina oxide inks. And I added a fun tone on tone tree pattern to my panel using the Layered Christmas Trees stencil #1 along with, from left to right, picked raspberry, spiced marmalade, fossilized amber, mowed lawn and peacock feathers oxide inks.

I added lots of textures to my background, starting with water droplets that I dried with a paper towel. I mixed some copic opaque white ink with water and added splatters all over the panel using a slim brush. And then I did the same with liquid stardust for sparkling details, and with fossilized amber distress spritz for gold details.

Next I cut all the bits and pieces to create my five little trees, and here is a detailed list of the dies I used: • Big Christmas Cupcake: trees, large and small stars, scalloped decorations, baubles (cheeks) • Build A Monster - arms & legs, mouths.

I added white splatters to my trees, and then assembled everything: I glued the cheeks, mouths, stars and cheeks on each tree, and to make my card extra fun, I added wiggly eyes to each one of them to give them more personality. I attached the orange and green trees on my panel first using 1mm foam squares, next the pink, yellow and aqua trees using 2mm foam squares, and then the arms and legs using foam squares as well.

I gold heat embossed "Noel" from Winter Greetings on white cardstock, cut it using the matching die, and tucked it between the yellow tree's arms. And since there was a little bit of space above the trees, I decided to add some coordinating sentiments: "Merry & bright", "Oh what fun!", "Ho ho ho" and "Peace & love" are from Sentiment Strips: Christmas, and "Fa la la la" is from Winter Birds. I cut each sentiment using a Sentiment Strips die, attached each strip above its matching Christmas tree, and finally stuck my panel to an 8,5 x 3,5 inches card base.

Sunny Studio - You're On My Nice List

I'm back today on the Sunny Studio blog with this cute holiday card featuring Santa, Rudolph and his reindeer friends. They're busy delivering presents to everyone who's been nice this year, and for the first time, Santa's sleigh stays in the garage, and the little gang is travelling the world in a Christmas van. How fun!

I started off by stamping all the images on 110lb Neenah solar white cardstock using an alcohol marker friendly black ink. I cut them all using the coordinating dies, and colored everything using my Ohuhu markers and my Graph'it brush markers in my favorite holiday color palette, which is red, pink, aqua and green.

I set my images aside, and cut a 5,5 x 4,25 inches Strathmore bristol smooth panel that I divided in two sections using washi tape: the sky at the top, and snow at the bottom. I colored the sky using kitsch flamingo and picked raspberry oxide inks, and the snow using salvaged patina and peacock feathers oxide inks. As always I added lots of textures to my panel, starting with water droplets on the sky. I also mixed some picked raspberry oxide ink with water, and added more splatters to the sky. I mixed some peacock feathers oxide ink with water, and added splatters to the snow section. Next I mixed some copic opaque white ink with water and added splatters all over the panel, and then I did the same with liquid stardust.

Once my panel was dry, I attached all the images on my panel using 1mm and 2mm foam squares, added highlights and details using a white gelly roll pen, and then moved on to my greeting that I created using Brilliant Banner 3 dies. I cut the two main pieces out of light pink cardstock, and white heat embossed "You're on my nice list" from North Pole on the front piece. I layered both pieces on top of each other using 1mm foam squares, and for an extra shiny detail, I cut another banner out of holographic cardstock, stuck it behind my pink banner using liquid glue, and finally attached the completed banner in the top part of my panel using foam squares again.

Lawn Fawn - Easy & Fast Stenciled Christmas Cards

I'm super happy to be back on the Lawn Fawn YouTube Channel & Blog with this set of easy and fast stenciled Christmas cards I created using a very few items. If you've been following me for some time, you know that my cards are usually super busy with lots of images, and I really love making all those crowded scenes, but sometimes I also like to keep my cards more simple to be able to mass produce them easily.

I started off by cutting five 5,5 x 4,25 inches panels: two panels out of Kraft cardstock, and three panels out of Strathmore bristol smooth cardstock. And I used the Poinsettia Background stencils along with oxide inks to create beautiful backgrounds on each panel:

Kraft panel: Yeti ink, rustic wilderness and vintage photo oxide inks

Kraft panel: candied apple, lumberjack plaid, mowed lawn, vintage photo and fossilized amber oxide inks

White panel: worn lipstick, festive berries, mowed lawn, vintage photo and mustard seed oxide inks

White panel: kitsch flamingo, picked raspberry, cracked pistachio and lucky clover oxide inks

White panel: tumbled glass, salty ocean, blueprint sketch and prize ribbon oxide inks

Once I was done with all the stenciling, I mixed some copic opaque white ink with water, and used a slim brush to add lots of splatters to each of my panels.

Next I cut five Scripty Merry Outline pieces out of Vellum, and five Scripty Merry pieces out of Silver Glitter cardstock, Holographic cardstock, Gold Mirror cardstock, Gold glitter cardstock and Pixie Dust cardstock. I glued each word to an outline, and then attached each element to a panel using 1mm foam squares.

I cut five Simple Wavy Banners out of colored cardstock, white heat embossed "Christmas and happy new year" from Henry's Build A Sentiment Winter on each banner, and attached a banner below each "Merry" using 1mm foam squares. And to finish each card, I glued a trio of shiny pearls on each side of my greetings.

Pretty Pink Posh - Shaker Mini Cards

I'm happy to be back on the blog with this duo of square shaker cards showcasing the Pretty Pink Posh Mini Scallop Card die set, as well as the Big Christmas Cupcake tree. I love this tree so much, and I will share a super duper extra mega colorful card showcasing that tree very soon, so stay tuned!

To make those cards, I started off by cutting two Eyelet Square panels out of Strathmore bristol smooth cardstock. I masked the scalloped edges with washi tape, and colored each panel using oxide inks. On one panel I applied salvaged patina oxide ink, and on the other I applied shaded lilac oxide ink. And just for reference, the color palette for those cards was inspired by the Pastel Party beads I'm going to use as the shaker material. Pretty Pink Posh has some amazing shaker beads mixes, and I often find myself finding inspiration directly from them.

Next I added a simple pattern to each panel using the Mini Polka Dots stencil along with wilted violet oxide ink for the purple panel, and peacock feathers oxide ink for the aqua panel. I splattered water on both panels, and dried them with a paper towel. I mixed some wilted violet oxide ink with water, used a slim brush to add splatters to my purple panel, and did the same with peacock feathers oxide ink on the aqua panel. I mixed a couple of liquid stardust droplets with water, and added sparkling splatters on both panels, and then I did the same with copic opaque white ink. I removed all the washi tape, and set my panels aside to dry.

I created both mini shaker cards following the same steps, so here they are:

Part one

1. Cut a Mini Scallop Card panel out of colored cardstock, and fold it in half

2. Glue some ribbon at the back of the mini card on the lower part, and some ribbon on the inside of the mini card on the top part. Leave the ends of both ribbon pieces long enough to be able to tie a bow and this way keep the mini card closed

3. Cut a square using another Mini Scallop Card die out of the same colored cardstock as #1, and stick it on the inside of the mini card on the upper part. This will hide where we glued the ribbon.

4. Cut another square out of white cardstock, stamp "Have a holly jolly Christmas" from Winter Greetings on it, and stick that square on the inside of the mini card on the lower part

Part two

5. Cut a square out of shiny cardstock using the Mini Scallop Card square die, and use a 2,25 x 2,25 inches square die from your stash to cut an opening in that shiny square, and this way create a frame

6. Using the Mini Scallop Card square die, cut a square out of acetate, and another one out of a pattern paper that coordinates with the color of the mini card

7. Attach the acetate square at the back of the shiny frame using liquid glue, and still at the back of the frame, add foam strips all along the four edges

8. Pour Pastel Party shaker beads on the acetate (I always like to make my shaker cards extra full), peel the backing papers off the foam strips, and attach the pattern paper square to the strips to totally close the shaker panel

9. Add liquid glue at the back of your shaker square panel, and stick it on the front of your Mini Scallop Card

10. Cut a 4,5 x 4,5 inches square panel that coordinates with the mini card, and attach it to a card base. Stuck your Eyelet Square panel using 1mm foam squares, and then your Mini Scallop Card on top using 1mm foam squares again. And the whole shaker process is done!

Next I cut a few bits and pieces to put on the front of my shaker cards using Big Christmas Cupcake dies. I mixed some mowed lawn distress ink with water, and added splatters to each tree to give them some texture. I mixed some copic opaque white ink with water, and added splatters to the trees and snowflakes. And once everything was dry, I attached a tree with decorations and snowflakes on each shaker card using foam squares and liquid glue.

I created the banners using Big Birthday Cupcake dies, added white splatters on those pieces as well, and attached a banner below each tree using foam squares again. And I finished both cards with a few extra details, such as Sea Foam pearls on the aqua baubles, Pansy Purple pearls on the purple baubles, and snowflakes from the Candy Cane Lane confetti mix in the center of each snowflake.
