Hello Bluebird - O Christmas Tree stamp set + Snowy Sky Scene die set

jeudi 31 octobre 2019

Hello there,

I'm back today with a new Hello Bluebird video showcasing the brand new O Christmas Tree stamp set and Snowy Sky Scene die set.

To start, I stamped most of the images from the O Christmas Tree stamp set on Neenah solar white cardstock using memento tuxedo black ink. And I cut them using the coordinating dies.

To create my background, I used the new Snowy Sky Scene die set to cut a sky out of navy blue cardstock and two hills out of white cardstock. I was planning to have shiny stars in my night sky so I decided to create some kind of sparkly reflection on the white borders. So I first applied liquid glue on the very top edge of these elements, and then I plunged them into chunky glitter to get the cool reflection effect I was looking for.

I set those borders aside, and while they were drying I added some shadows on my night sky. I first applied chipped sapphire distress ink and added black soot to darken my panel a little bit more. And like I said before, I wanted to have shiny stars so I stuck my night panel to white glitter cardstock.

I cut a card base out of navy blue cardstock, applied double sided tape on it and then I adhered my background elements. And next I attached the images using foam squares. I applied white blizzard nuvo drops on the lights, and morning dew nuvo drop on the star and ornaments.

For my sentiment, I cut three falala words using a die from the Christmas Words #1 die set: from aqua glitter cardstock, and two from white cardstock. I glued both white elements at the back of the aqua falala to create dimension and then I attached the word on top of my panel using liquid glue.

And as a second sentiment, I cut a small white banner using a die from the Stitched Tag Builder die set, stamped the phrase "Make it merry", which is from the O Christmas Tree stamp set, on it, and then I attached it right below the falala word. Finally and as always, I added white highlights on the images to make them pop.

Hello Bluebird - Family Photo stamp set - Sepia Coloring with Spectrum Noir Markers

mercredi 30 octobre 2019

Hey there,

Today's card is pretty simple compared to what you are used to see, but this whole sepia/vintage look was a real pleasure to create. It was my very first time trying to make that effect and it the end it was very easy.

I first started by stamping the largest image from the Family Photo stamp set on Neenah desert storm cardstock using Potting Soil ink by Ranger. It stamped it twice to get a nice and crisp impression.

Next I started coloring the images. I invite you to watch the video below to see which markers I used to create this sepia look.

When the coloring was done, I traced a pencil line a little bit above their feet to create the floor. Next I masked the whole image, and started working on the background. To continue with the vintage look, I wanted to create a wall covered in flowers, like the wallpapers our parents or grandparents had in the 70's. So I picked three different stamps and filled the whole background. And to add some interest to the wallpaper, I added a little bit of shadows on the flowers, but not too much because I didn't want it to compete with the main image.

To create the floor, I applied washi tape along the pencil mark and used vintage photo distress ink to color the bottom of my panel. I added a little bit of ground espresso distress ink on the edges to darken the floor. Next I covered the floor with the washi tape and used the same inks to add texture to the wallpaper.

Old picture usually have a frame so I cut one out of a beige pattern paper using the Ocean Scene die and applied vintage photo on it to get the same vintage look as the panel. I attached it on my panel using liquid glue and then I stamped my sentiment (from the Christmas is coming stamp set) using Potting Soil ink.

Finally, and for an extra touch of sparkle, and because I think gold goes pretty well with sepia colors, I cut four corners out of gold glitter washi tape and stuck them on my panel.

Hello Bluebird - Merry Mice stamp set + Treehouse Scene die set

mardi 29 octobre 2019

Hi there,

I'm glad to be back with a Hello Bluebird card showcasing the brand new Merry Mice stamp set, as well as the new Treehouse scene die set and Treehouse Holiday add-on.

I first started by cutting a rectangle panel out of bristol cardstock, as well as the treehouse. I applied spun sugar oxide on most of the panel, and added worn lipstick at the very top of it for some contrast and to get a soft and nice sky. As always I added texture by splattering water on my panel, and I mixed worn lipstick oxide ink with water and added drops to my panel. And for a touch of magic, I also splattered drop of white shimmery paint on the paper.

I wanted the house to be soft so I lightly applied hickory smoke distress ink on it. I used the same ink to color the door and windows frames and the window box, and I added drops of that ink on the treehouse. I die cut another treehouse but just to cut the door out of it, and colored it using worn lipstick distress ink. And I used that same ink to color the tiny shutters as well.

Next I cut three hill borders using dies from the Hill and dale die set out of white glitter cardstock and attached them at the bottom of my panel using foam tape. And then I assembled and attached all the house elements using liquid glue. To give dimension to the shutters, I added a small foam square at their back before attaching them.

I added soft yellow pieces of cardstock at the back of the house and attached it to my panel using foam tape and glue dots. I added clear shimmer to those yellow elements, and I also stuck the door handle that I cut out of silver mirror cardstock.

I stamped my images from the Merry Mice stamp set using memento tuxedo black ink and colored them using my spectrum noir markers. When the coloring part was done, I cut the images using the coordinating dies, and before assembling everything, I cut two strings of lights using dies from the Treehouse Holiday add-on die set and colored these elements using my markers again.

I wanted the entire house to have a frosty look, so I first applied a layer of liquid glue on different spots, such as the top of the door and windows or the branches, and then I sprinkled glitter on the glue and set the panel aside to let it dry. Once the glue and glitter were dry, I attached the strings of lights and I applied a coat of white blizzard nuvo drops on the lights to make them shine and sparkle.

And then I finally assembled everything using glue dots, foam squares and liquid glue. I stamped my sentiment in the top left hand corner and the final touch was to stuck my panel to a white card base and to add white highlights on the images using a white gel pen.

Holiday Card Series 2019 w/ Magengo - Cut File Cuties on Cards

samedi 26 octobre 2019

Hi there,

I'm back with a trio of holiday cards featuring some cuties that are originally supposed to go on treat bags but I decided it would be fun to showcase them on cards. I used the Reindeer box + Bear box + Penguin box cut files.
I wanted to color them using my alcohol markers so I used 80lb neenah solar white cardstock to cut the files. I shared a few weeks ago a video where I show how I cut SVG files using my Scan 'n cut machine so if you're interested, feel welcome to go check it ^^

When the coloring was done, I colored the hearts using distress inks: peacock feathers, picked raspberry and blueprint sketch. And next I started working on the backgrounds. I wanted to have lots of different textures on my panels, and the first step was to blend some distress inks.

On the panda card, I used dried marigold, picked raspberry and seedless preserves. On the reindeer card, I used shaded lilac, blueprint sketch and wilted violet. And on the penguin card, I used cracked pistachio, peacock feathers and blueprint sketch.

For a first layer of texture, I splattered water that I dried using a paper towel. Second layer, I mixed the darker distress ink from each blending with water and splattered drops on the panel. I applied white embossing paste using a snowflake stencil as a third layer of texture. Fourth layer: I mixed white acrylic paint with water and created splatters on the panel. And as final layer, I splattered on the panel shimmering paint mixed with water.

When my panels were dry, I assembled my cards. All the elements were attached using foam tape, except for some tiny pieces that were stuck using liquid glue. To adhere the heart, I used glue dots and I wanted it to shine so I applied a coat of white blizzard nuvo drops on top of it.

The final touches were to applied black enamel accents on the eyes and smile, as well as glossy accents on the nose. I leave you with the video, and wish an awesome day!

Holiday Card Series 2019 w/ Lawn Fawn - Happy Ho ho holidays - Magic Picture Changer Card

mardi 22 octobre 2019

Hello there,

A few weeks ago, I shared a Magic Picture Changer holiday card showing two cute kids, drinking hot chocolates and waiting for Santa by the fireplace. And while I was making it, I was thinking that it could be fun to create the outside their house.

This is what I tried to create with this new magic picture changer holiday card. I used a lot of supplies to make it, including the new Ho ho holidays stamp set and the Rooftop border die set by Lawn Fawn.

So I first started by cutting a piece of blue jay cardstock, I applied black soot distress ink on the edges to darken it a little bit and used the snowy backdrop die to create stars and snow on my blue jay panel. I also added some sparkles using the liquid stardust, and to add more magic to my night sky, I stuck my night sky panel on a piece of pixie dust cardstock and finally adhered it on a white panel.

***

Next I worked on my magic picture changer element. On a long bristol panel, I stamped the xmas tree using jet black ink, and on the short panel, I stamped the kids, their Christmas hats and the tree again. And then
I colored the images using my alcohol markers. When it was done and to match my first card, I used a white posca pen to draw a bunch of dots on my panels. I also applied clear shimmer to the Christmas tree decorations, as well as some white highlights using a white gel pen.

I taped the magic picture changer dies to my panels, and sent them to my die cutting machine. I applied double sided tape on both sides of the long panel tabs, I folded those tabs, next I removed the back of the tape and folded the tabs again to definitely attach them.

I folded my long panel in half right on the score line the die creates, next I put the short panel inside it through the slit, and put each small flap into a small slit.

I pulled the tab to combine both panels, next I applied a lot of powder to help the mechanism work easily, I aligned the small panel between the tabs, removed the back of the tape, and finally I folded the long panel to close it and create a pocket.

***

Next I worked on the outside of the house. I cut a small frame using a die from the magic picture changer die set, as well as three roof borders out of chocolate bar cardstock and I applied a little bit of ground espresso distress ink on the edges to add some texture.

To create the wall, I cut several strips out of woodgrain cardstock measuring half an inch wide, and applied vintage photo and ground espresso distress inks on them to make them pop. Next I started to assemble the wall and roof. So first I adhered the magic picture changer pocket to my white panel 1cm under the night sky. Next I attached them all around the interactive window, making sure not to apply tape on the moving parts. When the wood planks were attached, I finished the wall by adhered the window frame. And I adhered the roof borders using foam squares and double sided tape.

To give a more festive look to my house I cut a string of light out of rainforest cardstock and decorated it using blue, gold and red glitter cardstocks. And I attached those lights on the roof using liquid glue. I also die cut a chimney that I colored using hickory smoke and black soot distress inks. And then I stuck it above the roof.

***

For the bottom of my card, I cut three snow borders, added chunky glitter on the top edges to get a cool and nice sparkly border and finally adhered these elements at the bottom of my panel using foam tape.

Next I stamped additional images on white cardstock using jet black ink, and colored them using my alcohol markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut them, and then I attached them on my panel.

To create my sentiment, I stamped the word Happy from the Mice on ice stamp set using jet black ink, and cut it using the coordinating die. I attached it at the top of my panel, and stamped the words Holidays on the top part of the chimney.

I also white heat embossed a speech bubble and the words Ho Ho Ho inside it, cut it using the coordinating die and stuck above Santa using translucent foam squares. And finally
I cut the pull tab arrow element out of chili pepper cardstock and attached it at the end of the pull tab using double sided tape.

Magengo - Happy Winter - Reveal Wheel Card

samedi 19 octobre 2019

Hey there,

I'm back today with a reveal wheel card showcasing the new Happy Winter digital stamp set. This cute penguin is my favorite from this set so I wanted to use only him on a card but I'll be back soon with another project featuring the other images ^^

So to start, I die cut the reveal wheel with the arc shaped window die taped at the top. To create my winter sky, I first applied tumbled glass oxide ink all over the panel to get a nice base. Next I added salty ocean oxide ink at the top. And finally I applied a little bit of faded jeans oxide ink at the very top to darken my sky.

To add texture on my panel, I splattered water that I dried using a paper towel, and then I added drops of white paint to give the illusion of falling snow. Next I cut the wheel and applied salty ocean oxide ink on the middle part of the wheel, and I created the same texture as before on it.

To ground my winter scene, I cut two wavy borders out of white cardstock, applied liquid glue on the top edges, and added chunky glitter on my borders. This way my scene will have a cute and magical look.

Next I stamped four sentiments on the wheel using clear embossing ink, applied white embossing powder on the ink, and heat set everything using my heat tool. For the last part of my sentiment, I wanted a touch of color so I stamped the word "Joyful" on white cardstock using candied apple oxide ink, and I cut it using the coordinating die. And to totally complete my sentiment, I stamped and white heat embossed the phrase "Hope your holidays are" and an ampersand.

Next I assembled the reveal wheel, and stuck it to a dark blue panel. And to finish by background I stuck the two snow borders at the bottom using foam tape. I printed my images on Neenah solar white cardstock, cut them using my Scan' n cut machine and colored them using my spectrum noir markers. And when my images were colored, I attached them on my panel using foam tape and glue dots.

For final touches, I applied clear shimmer on the hat as well as on the presents. And added white highlights on the images. I attached my panel to a dark blue card base, and because the sky looked a little bit to empty, I decided to add some clear sequins.

And that's it! Simple and easy but still very cute. I leave you with the video, and wish you a very nice day.

Lawn Fawn - 31 Days of Halloween Spooktacular Video Hop - Box Card

mercredi 9 octobre 2019

Hi there,

Today I'm very happy and excited to share with you this Halloween box card featuring some Lawn Fawn supplies, including the Spooky Village stamp set.

This card is part of the 31 days of halloween spooktacular video hop that is organized by Marisa from Witchtionery Crafting and Katy from Hook, Line and InkerEach day of October, crafters and card makers will share Halloween projects. And to be in the drawing for the prize pack at the end of the month, you have to comment once on each video all month long. Please check the main page and make sure to go check this page to comment on each video for a chance to win. Good luck!

This card was inspired by a winter village box card I made last year and I thought it would be fun to adapt it to a spooky village box card. Hope you'll like it.

So I first started by cutting two scallop box card bases out of ground coffee cardstock. And I cut three of the four flaps give my box a different look compared to my winter box card from last year. I folded the tabs and lines, except for the one with the flap. It will be the back of my card so I needed it to stay straight.

To give some texture to my card base, I applied a little bit of ground espresso distress ink on the outside edges of my card bases. I cut rectangles and squares out of a yellow paper from the Spiffy Speckles paper pack, and applied vintage photo distress ink on the edges to get a worn out look. And I also splattered drops of vintage photo distress ink on the edges of those yellow pieces, and attached them to the box card bases.

To ground my characters on the outside of my box, I cut four wavy borders out of bristol cardstock that I colored using peeled paint and forest moss distress inks. And then I stuck those elements down to the card base.

Next I cut five insert pieces out of ground espresso cardstock, I applied double sided tape on the tabs, folded the tabs and then attached one side of those insert pieces on the left panel inside the card base. I attached both card bases together, aligned the five insert pieces and removed the back of the tape on the remaining tabs, folded the box to stick those tabs inside it. And finally I attached the last tab to definitely close and form the box card (watching the video for this part can be helpful ^^)

All my images were stamped on white cardstock using jet black ink, colored using my alcohol markers, and cut  using the coordinating dies. I also cut and colored more wavy borders that I attached on the back flap of my card as well as on each insert piece. And then I finally attached the images.

My winter box card from last year had a string of lights, so I recreated one using tiny pumpkins and I think it will be the perfect final touch to my spooky village.

Lawn Fawn - Fun in the Sunflowers - Pull Tab Card

samedi 5 octobre 2019

Hi there,

Today's card was made for a collaboration with my friend Aya. The requirements were to use Lawn fawn stamps and to create a fall card. Just for fun. Aya has created a super cute and fun kitchen scene featuring two bunnies baking pies, so be sure to check her YouTube channel to watch her video!

To create my card, I first started by cutting several elements to build the background: a rectangle panel, two wavy borders and a grass border. All from strathmore bristol cardstock.

On the rectangle panel, I created clouds using a homemade stencil and faded jeans distress ink. I also created texture on the clouds by splattering water drops on the paper, as well as drops of faded jeans. The larger wavy border was colored using peeled paint and forest moss distress inks. And for the smaller wavy border, I used scattered straw, rusty hinge and ground espresso distress inks.

As always I stamped all my images on neenah solar white cardstock using jet black ink and I colored them using my spectrum noir markers. Feel welcome to watch the video below to see which markers I used. When the coloring was done, I assembled a few things such as the puppy in the basket, the beret on the girl's head and her scarf, the sunflowers in the red cart.

Next I die cut a notch at the top and a slot at the bottom of my cloud panel, as well as a coordinated slot out of my khaki green wavy border And next I taped this wavy grass border to the cloud background. I die cut the pull tab mechanism, folded the tabs, applied tape on those tabs, and put this pull tab mechanism through the slot at the back of my panel. And I also die cut the sleeve that I folded and attached at the back of my panel to help the pull tab go up and down straight. I adhered the remaining piece of cloud background at the top of the pull tab, and added a tiny arrow to the tab so the recipient of the card knows to pull it.

Next I attached the squirrel to the small tabs, and stuck the rest of the elements down. The khaki green wavy border looked a little bit too flat to me so I simply stamped little hills using peeled paint distress ink.

I stamped my sentiment on the grass border, attached my panel to a kraft card base, and finally added little leaves here and there.

Miss Ink Stamps - Haunted House Infinity Shaker Card

mercredi 2 octobre 2019

Hello there,

I'm back with another Halloween infinity shaker card featuring the Haunted House and Boo Crew stamp sets designed by Miss Ink StampsMy idea for the background was to have the haunted house kind of muted, as if it was surrounding by a thick fog, so by applying oxide inks on top of the stamped image, I would get this effect.

I started by applying picked raspberry at the bottom of my panel towards the half of the house. Next I applied blueprint sketch on the other half and blended both colors. And to darken my night sky, I added black soot at the top of my panel. Next I added a first layer of texture by splattering water drops on my panel, as a second layer, I splattered drops of silver paint, mostly at the very top of my panel, and finally, as a third layer, I mixed black acrylic paint with water and splattered drops on my panel.

I stamped my images on neenah solar white cardstock using memento tuxedo black ink, I cut them using my scan 'n cut machine and colored them using my spectrum noir markers. When all the images were colored, I placed my panel into a plastic pouch, filled it with clear sequins and deep blue sequins, and closed the plastic pouch.

To ground my scene, I cut two grass borders out of black cardstock that I stuck down at the bottom of my panel. I placed my little characters and attached them using glue dots. And finally I adhered my plastic pouch to a navy blue card base.

And that's it. Ready to join these cuties into this spooky fog to see if someone, or something, lives in this house? I leave you with the video, and wish you an awesome day!
