Craftin Desert Divas - Spotlight Technique

lundi 30 avril 2018

Hey there,

Today I'm showcasing a technique I had never used before: the spotlight technique. I even had to make a quick research on the internet to know exactly what it was LOL And when I discovered this technique, I was very excited to give it a try!

I first started by stamping the same flower background twice on alcohol marker friendly cardstock. I die cut one background using a scalloped frame and did the same thing with the other background using a smaller scalloped frame die, making sure this smaller frame would match the larger one in the middle (please watch the video because I don't feel I sound clear LOL)

I used my alcohol markers to color the flowers and leaves, but just the ones on the small panel. Attached the large non colored panel on a white card base, and then the small colored panel right on top using a piece of foam.

White heat embossed my sentiment on black cardstock and attached it at the bottom right corner of my card. And to finish the card, I simply added some clear drops here and there.

Craftin Desert Divas - Small Images Background - Zig Coloring

samedi 21 avril 2018

Hey there,

Today I'm sharing three cards I made using small images to create cute and colorful backgrounds. Very simple to make: stamp and color! ^^

The blue one showcases the new "Look For Stars" stamp set. This new set is soft and dreamy so I used blue to color the background. The rainbows and stars bring a nice contrast with their bright colors.

The green one was inspired by the April Mood Board Challenge which is all about Easter. I used cute bunnies from the "Jellybean Kisses" stamp set and other images from the "Easter Cuties" digi stamp set. The green background represent the grass where we hide the chocolate treats ^^

The orange one is a Spring celebration, even if when I write this post it's raining where I live... I used the "Ladybug Garden" stamp set and a lot of colors so it would help the sun coming out from behind the clouds!

Craftin Desert Divas - Black & White Flowers

jeudi 19 avril 2018

Hey there,

Today I'm back to showcase one more time the gorgeous new CDD floral set called "Hello Beautiful". It was designed by my friend Anna. This sweet lady has so much talent, so go check her work! ^^

Once again, I decided to disassemble the entire wreath so I can build two clusters on both sides of the sentiment.

But first, I started by painting the background. And for that, I simply grabbed pink distress ink, applied it on an acrylic block, mixed with some water to make it more liquid, and then painted horizontal lines on white cardstock, some dark and some lighter.

When dry, I die cut a scalloped frame from this panel, and attached it to a white card base using doublz sided foam tape. Stamped my sentiment on white cardstock, and attached it in the middle of the panel using the same adhesive.

I stamped the floral wreath and the other small elements on white cardstock, fussy cut everything and then made some cuts here and there to get smaller pieces. Arranged everything around the sentiment, and when I was happy with the positions, I glued everything in place using glue dots.

For final touches, I added some black enamel dots, and clear glitter to the sentiment.

Craftin Desert Divas - Happy Lazy Day

samedi 14 avril 2018

Hello there,

Wouldn't it be nice to do absolutely nothing and just have a little break, sipping a cocktail in a hammock? Oh I wish I was this lazy bunny ^^ This card features two new supplies: the "Friendship" stamp set, and the "Cloudy Sky" stencil. Also used some other products from previous releases.

I first started by inking my background using the stencil and distress inks. I chose bold colors to get a bright and vibrant result. Before die cutting the panel using a scalloped circle die, I splattered water droplets on top of it and dried it using a paper towel. I also die cut a grass border from another scalloped circle, and inked it up using light green ink.

Colored the image using alcohol markers, and fussy cut it. Attached the grass border at the bottom of my circle background, and attached everything on a white card base. Also attached the image using liquid glue and foam squares.

Die cut the word Happy from gold glitter cardstock, and attached it above the image, and gold heat embossed the word Day on white cardstock, trimmed around it and attached it on the right side. And for a nice final touch, I added clear glitter on the flowers, and some clear sequins here and there.

Craftin Desert Divas - Hello Happy Day

jeudi 12 avril 2018

Hey there,

It's day 4 of Craftin Desert Divas Sneak Peek Week so today I'm sharing this card featuring the new "Friendship" stamp set. I kept it pretty simple so we can focus on the cuties under the flower ^^

I first started by die cutting the grass border from green cardstock. Then I created the background using light peach color, sprayed water on it and dried it using a paper towel. And to add more details, I splattered small droplets of the same peach ink.

Colored the images using my alcohol markers, and fussy cut them. Die cut the word Hello one time from gold glitter cardstock and three times from white cardstock for dimension. Glued them together.

White heat embossed the second part of my sentiment, and glued my gold Hello above it. Attached the grass border at the bottom of my panel, and then attached the images using foam squares. And for a final touch, I added peach drops here and there.

Craftin Desert Divas - You Make Me Happy

mercredi 11 avril 2018

Hello there,

It's day 3 of CDD Sneak Peek Week for April Release so today I'm sharing this card featuring the new "Look For Stars" stamp set. This set is just so sweet so I decided to use soft colors of ink with a touch of gold to sprinkle on dreams ^^

I first started by die cutting a scalloped border for the bottom of my panel, this way I knew where to start my sky. To create it, I simply blended two different colors of distress inks. They're very soft so perfect for the theme. When done, I splattered water and white shimmering paint to give the illusion of stars.

Stamped my image on white cardstock using alcohol marker friendly black ink, colored it and fussy cut it. I also stamped and fussy cut three little clouds.

Die cut the word Happy from gold glitter cardstock and from white cardstock, and glued both pieces together. White heat embossed the first part of my sentiment and glued the second part right under it. Attached the scalloped border at the bottom of my panel, and glued the images using foam squares.

Added some shimmer to the clouds and moon, and another scalloped border at the bottom to finish the card.

Craftin Desert Divas - Magnolia Forever

mardi 10 avril 2018

Hey there,

I'm just so excited to share this card with you today! This new floral stamp set from CDD is absolutely gorgeous, and was designed by my dear friend Anna, she's very talented and so nice!

I first started by creating the background panel. And for that, I die cut several scalloped borders from white cardstock, and let them together using tape at the back. Then I attached the entire panel on a white card base using double sided tape.

I die cut an octagon shape from white cardstock, glued it on a piece of patterned vellum and then trimmed the excess. Stamped my images on white cardstock using alcohol marker friendly black ink, fussy cut them, made some cuts here and there so I could arrange the wreath around the octagon shape, and colored them using two shades of pink and two shades of green.

Die cut the word Happy twice: from gold glitter cardstock and from white cardstock. Glued both pieces together. Gold heat embossed the second part of my sentiment and die cut it using a banner die.

Then I assembled everything. Attached the octagon shape to the background panel using translucent foam squares. Glued the flowers in place using glue dots. Attached the sentiment banner at the bottom right corner, and glued the word Happy on the wreath using foam squares. And to finish the project, I simply added some clear sequins here and there around the wreath.
