Craftin Desert Divas - Out of Business

mercredi 29 novembre 2017

Hello there,

A lot of stamp companies have been facing counterfeitings for several months even years. Craftin Desert Divas is part of these affected companies. So to help and make people understand that buying fake products leads to the death of small businesses, Tara, the owner of CDD, decided to release a special stamp set called "Here For You". So here is my take showcasing it.

I first started by creating a simple background using grey and black distress ink on bristol cardstock. Usually I'm all colorful, but this time I wanted the card to express all the negativity of counterfeiting.

Next I fussy cut and colored my images using my alcohol markers. Framed my sentiment using a small ticket die and glued in place the images using foam squares. And to finish the card, I simply attached my panel to a white card base.

Holiday Card Series 2017 - Silhouettes in the night

mercredi 22 novembre 2017

Hey there,

I have been wanted to make these cards for a very long time since I had this gorgeous stamp set for weeks! I really looove the result, it is so so so pretty! I also use bristol cardstock and I think it allows to blend the colors better than traditional watercolor paper.

So I first started by creating the backgrounds using different shades of colors each time. Also inked a strip on the bottom using black memento ink.

Let the panels dry overnight, and then the day after I stamped the silhouettes using the same black ink and my misti tool so I could repeat the stamping to get an intense black.

I also stamped the sentiments, and then I simply drew a bunch of dots on the background to create starry skies. Attached the panels to black card bases and it was done!

Winter Card Series - Christmas Night - Diorama Card

lundi 20 novembre 2017

Hello there,

Today I'm very excited to share with you my very first diorama card ever. Making this interactive card was really fun and I like the final scene which I think is very cozy! I will definitely make more of them in the future!

The first thing I did was coloring all the images using my alcohol markers, and fussy cutting them.

Next I built the box. And for that, I cut two 18,2 x 10 cm rectangles and scored each at 13,2 cm and 17,2 cm. I die cut a rectangle from one of these two pieces to create the front window.

I also cut two 15,8 cm long strips and scored each one at 1,3 cm from both ends. Then I assembled the box.

The measurements are also written in the video (see below), and I think the whole process is easier to understand by watching it directly ^^

To add more decorations to my box, I die cut a light border, painted it using red and gold glitter pens, and attached inside the box at the back of the top. Then I glued all my images inside the box, either on the back strip or at the front one. And to finish the card, I simply added my sentiment banner above the wreath.

Winter Card Series - Frosty Box Card

dimanche 19 novembre 2017

Hello there,

Here is my last card for Craftin Desert Divas November release showcasing the new "Skating by" stamp set. I mixed it with the box card die set because it had been a while since the last time I used it.

I first started by die cutting all the pieces to build the box card. Attached all the pattern paper pieces, as well as the inside pieces, and then closed the box.

Next I die cut a village border and two hill borders. I changed one of the hill border into a rink by simply attaching at its back a piece of cardstock previously colored in light grey. Attached these three pieces inside the box on the strips.

Then I colored my images, fussy cut them, and attached them inside the box using glue dots. The owl was attached "in the air" using a thin strip of acetate.

Next I die cut the word Sending from red glitter cardstock, and its outline from vellum. Also framed my sentiment using the small ticket die from the box card die set. Finally attached these pieces on the front flap.

Winter Card Series - Wobbling Yeti

Hello there,

Here is my second card showcasing the new "Yeti Fun" stamp set from Craftin Desert Divas November release. When I saw this image, I immediately thought it would be fun to make it wobble! At the end, the card is pretty simple but very cool!

I first started by coloring and fussy cutting my two yeti images. Next I die cut a scalloped rectangle from blue plaid paper, and then in the middle of that rectangle, I die cut a scalloped circle.

I framed my sentiment using a small stitched rectangle, punched two little holes on each side, put some blue thread through, and attached the rectangle at the bottom of the circle using foam tape. And then I attached the thread at the back of the panel.

Put foam tape all over the back of my panel, and attached it to a white card base. Glued one of the yetis in the circle, and placed the other one on top using a little wobble. And to finish the card, I simply glued some stars and sequins here and there.

Winter Card Series - Sweet Dreams

samedi 18 novembre 2017

Hey there,

Craftin Desert Divas November release is finally available in the shop, and I have some more cards to share with you showcasing the new products. This time, I used the new "Snow Happy" stamp set. I mixed it with different scalloped borders and some pretty soft colors.

I first started by cutting all the papers I was going to use. I cut three scalloped rectangles from white cardstock, light pink pattern paper and light blue pattern paper. Both have glitter on them but it's hard to tell in the pictures or video. Then from the pink and from the white scalloped rectangles, I used the scalloped border die to create different layers. I attached the light blue scalloped rectangle on a white card baer, and then the light pink piece on top of it, and finally the white piece on top of the pink one.

On the left corner of the white layer, I stamped and embossed my sentiment using silver embossing powder. I thought it would go nicely with the colors. I colored and fussy cut my images. And to add more interest to the card, I die cut a light border, colored the light according to the other colors, applied glossy accents to make them shine and finally glued that border at the top of the card.

I attached my images using foam squares, added clear glitter to the hair of the trolls, and finally glued some little stars and circles here and there.

Autumn Card Series - Sending Harvest Happiness

Hey there,

This cute and simple card was inspired by the Craftin Desert Divas November Mood Board. I hadn't have a chance to play with this stamp set so coloring this image was pure joy!

I first started by creating the background, and for that I just stamped almost all the small images from the set on kraft cardstock using brown ink. I added white stitched lines all around the panel to frame it.

Next I die cut a scalloped circle from vellum and attached it at the middle top of my panel using a glue dot. I colored the image using my alcohol markers, and fussy cut it.

I also die cut a grass border from the same kraft cardstock as the background, glued the bottom of my image at the back of it and then glued the piece at the back of my sentiment banner.

Glued everything in place using foam squares, and added some sequins to finish the card.

Winter Card Series - Skating Trolls

jeudi 16 novembre 2017

Hello there,

Here is my second for today showcasing another new stamp set from Craftin Desert Divas called "Snow Happy". Absolutely adorable!

I first started by coloring and fussy cutting my images. Love these cuties! Then I die cut my borders: two scalloped borders from pattern paper, one house border and one hill border from white cardstock.

Attached the white pieces together, and then the scalloped borders at the top and bottom to kind of frame my scene. Attached my sentiment and my images, and stamped the second part of my sentiment inside the card.

To finish the card, I simply added clear glitter to the trolls hair and glued some sequins here and there.
