Sunny Studio - Fairies & Peacocks + Polka Dot Background

jeudi 8 mai 2025

Hello there,

I'm thrilled to be back to the Sunny Studio blog with this magical birthday card featuring cute fairies and chicky peacocks. I've had this idea of turning the turkeys from Turkey Day into peacocks since the set was released, so I'm very happy to finally be sharing this bright and colorful card with you.

I started off by stamping all the images using an alcohol marker friendly black ink, I cut them all using the coordinating dies, and colored everything using my Ohuhu markers in yellow, green and aqua, which is my favorite color combination at the moment.

Here is a detailed list of the stamp sets I used:  Turkey Day - peacocks  Tulip Path Background - butterflies  Garden Fairy - fairies, flowers  Garden Critters - grass.

Next I worked on the background and started by cutting two 4,5 x 3,25 inches panels out of aqua cardstock using the second largest Stitched Rectangle die. On the first aqua panel, I used the polka dot die from the Frilly Frame Polka Dot die set to cut a million circles out of it, and then I attached that panel to the second aqua panel using liquid glue. Next I cut more tiny circles out of green, yellow and aqua cardstock using the same die, and then filled each circle spot on the aqua panel with my colorful tiny circles. It was quite a tedious task but I think it's totally worth it, I really love the result.

I added some texture to my polka dot panel: I mixed copic opaque white ink with water and used a slim brush to splatters all over it, I did the same with fossilized amber distress spritz for a touch of gold, and then the same again with peacock feathers distress spritz to match with the peacocks.

I cut a 5,25 x 4 inches scalloped panel out of shiny turquoise cardstock using the other die from the Frilly Frame Polka Dot die set, and attached my polka dot panel to it using 1mm foam tape. Next I stuck my scalloped panel to a 5,5 x 4,25 inches aqua panel using 1mm foam tape again, and then the whole thing to a white card base using liquid glue.

For my greeting, I used the Brilliant Banner 1 die set, and cut the different pieces out of cardstock that match with the images. I white heat embossed "Hoping you day is magical" from Garden Fairy on the main piece, assembled the banner using 1mm foam squares, attached it right at the top of my panel, and then stuck all the images using 1mm and 2mm foam squares. I added white blizzard nuvo drops to the fairies and butterflies wings to finish my card.

Pretty Pink Posh - May 2025 Release - Floral Wreath & Hummingbirds

mercredi 7 mai 2025

Hello there,

All the products from the Pretty Pink Posh May 2025 Release are now available, and I'm super happy to be back with this cute and colorful card showcasing some of the brand new items: the Stitched Hummingbirds die set, the Floral Wreath Builder die set and the Layered Blooming Vines stencil set. Those hummingbirds are absolutely gorgeous, right?

I started off by cutting a 5,5 x 4,25 inches textured panel out of kraft cardstock using the Pierced Leafy Vines plate. And I created a beautiful floral background using the Layered Blooming Vines stencil set along with oxide inks: first rustic wilderness for the greenery, next fossilized amber, saltwater taffy and spiced marmalade for the flowers, and then broken china for the small dots. I splattered water all over the panel and dried it with a paper towel, mixed some copic opaque white ink with water and used a slim brush to add white splatters all over the piece of paper, and once my panel was totally dry, I attached it to a white card base using liquid glue and set it aside for later.

I cut all the pieces out of colored cardstock and pattern papers, and as always, here is a detailed list of the die sets I used:  Stitched Hummingbirds - hummingbirds  Floral Wreath Builder - wreath, leaves, flowers  Valentine Cake Pops - heart cheeks.

To the cardstock pieces only, I added a little bit of matching distress ink to the edges, and then mixed some of the same matching ink with water to add splatters to each element. And then I splattered white ink all over the bits and pieces (cardstock + pattern paper) using my slim brush.

I assembled the wreath first and cut two sections out of it to create corners that I attached to my card using 1mm foam squares. Next I built the flowers and stuck them to those wreath corners using foam squares again, and then I assembled the birds and stuck them to the card, leaving enough space in the middle for my sentiment. I white heat embossed "You're my favorite" from Friend Greetings on brown cardstock, cut it using the matching die, added a little bit of matching distress ink to the edges, and then attached my greeting using 2mm foam squares. To finish my card, I gave each Stitched Hummingbird a Pacific Blue pearl as an eye, and added glossy accents to the beaks to make them shine.

Pretty Pink Posh - Baby Card Mix & Match

vendredi 2 mai 2025

Hello there,

I'm happy to be back with this lovely slimline baby card I created with a whole bunch of dies from various Pretty Pink Posh sets. Mixing and matching items from different years/seasons is definitely what I like the most, and to make the background behind my three shelves I went for a bunny theme and used the Layered Bunny Faces stencils to create a colorful and playful wallpaper.

And speaking of which, I started off by making the background and first cut a slimline panel out of kraft cardstock using the largest Slimline Peekaboo Windows die. When I stencil on kraft cardstock, most of the time I like to create a white base first, so this is what I did using the Layered Bunny Faces stencil #1 along with white pigment ink. I then used that same stencil again but shifted it a little bit to the right, and created colorful bunny faces using oxide inks: rusty hinge, fossilized amber, bundled sage, saltwater taffy and tattered rose. And by shifting the stencil, it created a white border around the bunny faces, and I've always loved this effect. Next I used stencils #2 and #3 along with frayed burlap oxide ink to add eyes, noses and whiskers to the bunny faces. I mixed a bit of copic opaque white ink with water and used a slim brush to add splatters all over the panel, and did the same with vintage photo distress spritz.

While my Layered Bunny Faces panel was drying, I cut all the bits and pieces out of colored cardstock, woodgrain cardstock and pattern papers. On the colored cardstock and woodgrain cardstock pieces, I added matching distress ink splatters to those elements, as well as ink on the edges, to make them less flat, and then white ink splatters. And on the pattern paper pieces, I only added white ink splatters.

As always, here is a detailed list of the die sets I used on this card:  Bunny Holder - bunny  Big Easter Cupcake - bunny paws, heart cheeks, bunny tail  Easter Mug Additions - eyebrows, bow (on the bunny's head)  Valentine Holder Additions - collar, bow (on the collar), heart banners  Baby Mug Additions - cubes, rattle, letters, small circle (on the rattle), tiny ducks, tiny star, tiny bows  Party Balloons - large hearts  Decorative Birdhouses - shelves  Onesie Shaker - large duck.

I assembled the bunny, the rattle, the heart banners and the cubes using foam squares and liquid glue, and then attached everything to my panel using 1mm and 2mm foam squares. I purposely left some space above the cubes to add "Welcome". It is from Baby Animals, I white heat embossed it on dark brown cardstock, cut it into a slim banner using a Sentiment Strips die, and attached it to my panel using 1mm foam squares.

To finish my card, I gave the bunny a pair of large wiggle eyes to make him/her extra cute, applied glossy accents to the nose, to the "Baby" letters on the cubes and to the star on the rattle. I cut an 8,5 x 3,5 inches textured white panel, attached it to a slimline card base using liquid glue, and then my panel on top using 1mm foam tape.

Sunny Studio - Plane Awesome Slimline Card

jeudi 1 mai 2025

Hello there,

I'm so glad to be back on the Sunny Studio blog with this super colorful and extra cute card showcasing the adorable Plane Awesome stamp set. I love those adorable planes so much I decided to feature three of them on my card, so I went for a slimline design to make them fit well, and used a color palette I've used before on this Party Pets card and enjoyed it very much.

All the images are from Plane Awesome. I know: shocking, right? I'm more of a "let's use all my stamp sets on one card" kind of a card maker, but for this one, everything I needed to create my scene was already in the set. So, I started off by stamping the images on 110lb Neenah solar white cardstock using an alcohol marker friendly black ink, I cut them all using the matching dies, and then colored everything using my Ohuhu markers and my Graph'it brush, with neutrals on the critters and brights on the planes. And once the coloring was finished, I added highlights and details to the images using a white gel pen.

Next I cut a slimline panel out of Strathmore bristol smooth cardstock using a die from the Slimline Scalloped Frame die set, covered that panel with tumbled glass oxide ink first, and then used a slimline cloud stencil from my stash along with broken china oxide ink to add a cloudy pattern to my background. I splattered water all over the panel and dried it with a paper towel, mixed a bit of copic opaque white ink with water and used a slim brush to add white splatters to the panel, and then did the same with broken china, faded jeans and black soot oxide inks to add more contrast and interest to the clouds.

I cut an 8 x 3 inches white panel and attached my cloudy background to it using liquid glue. Next I cut a scalloped blue panel using another die from the Slimline Scalloped Frame die set and stuck my white panel to it using 1mm foam tape, and then I attached my scalloped blue panel to a khaki green card base using 1mm foam tape again.

I stamped "Hoping your day is just plane awesome" from Plane Awesome at the bottom of the cloudy panel using black versafine ink, attached all the images using 1mm and 2mm foam squares, and finished my card by adding glossy accents to the hearts to make them super shiny.

Pretty Pink Posh - Outer Space & Watercolor Rectangle Stenciled Background

lundi 28 avril 2025

Hey there,

I'm super happy to be back with this bright and cheerful Outer Space card featuring my favorite color palette of the moment, as well as a couple of Pretty Pink Posh stencil sets I thought were perfect for this galaxy/planet themed card.

I started off by stamping all the images on 110lb Neenah solar white cardstock using Memento tuxedo black ink. I cut them all using the coordinating dies, and then colored everything using my Ohuhu markers. I've only used two stamp sets on this card: Outer Space for the spaceship, UFO, planets and stars, and Sports for the smallest ball that I turned into a tiny planet. Once the coloring was done, I added highlights and details to the images using a white gel pen, and set everything aside for later.

For the background, I first cut a large Stitched Torn Rectangle panel out of Strathmore bristol smooth cardstock. I temporarily stuck the middle part of the Watercolor Rectangle stencil set to my panel using pieces of rolled-up washi tape at the back of the stencil, and worked on the outside section of my panel, applying prize ribbon oxide ink first, and then a little bit of black soot oxide ink to the edges.

Next I placed the Line Bursts stencil on top of my panel and used black soot oxide ink again to add lines to the edges of my Stitched Torn Rectangle panel. I removed the Line Bursts stencil, splattered water and dried the panel with a paper towel, mixed some black soot oxide ink with water and used a slim brush to add more splatters.

I removed the middle part of the Watercolor Rectangle stencil set, temporarily taped the frame part of the Watercolor Rectangle stencil set to my panel, and then worked on the middle part of my panel. I first applied tumbled glass oxide ink all over that section, and then salty ocean oxide ink to the edges to darken the blue and bring more depth.

I wanted to add Line Bursts to the middle section of my panel as well, and I wanted those lines to be continuous with the black ones on the edges but I couldn't see well through the frame part of the Watercolor Rectangle stencil set, so I removed that stencil, lined up the Line Bursts stencil with the black lines on the edges, temporarily taped it to my panel, put the frame stencil back in place, and then added lines to the middle section of my panel using prize ribbon and salty ocean oxide inks. To add texture to that section, I removed the frame stencil and the Line Bursts stencil, put the frame stencil back in place, splattered water all over the blue section, and dried the panel with a paper towel. I mixed some prize ribbon oxide ink and some black soot oxide ink with water and used a slim brush to add more splatters, and then I did the same with copic opaque white ink and with brushed pewter distress mica stain which I both splattered all over my Stitched Torn Rectangle panel.

Once my background was totally dry, I white heat embossed "You are out of this world" from Outer Space right in the center, and then attached all the images using 1mm and 2mm foam squares. Next I attached my panel to a 5,5 x 4,25 inches black panel, and finally the whole thing to a white card base.

Sunny Studio - Watering Pink Peonies

jeudi 24 avril 2025

Hello there,

I'm happy to be back on the Sunny Studio blog with this lovely mix & match of new and less new items. It's always nice to use our older sets and pair them with new images to give them some love.

I started off by stamping my images on 110lb Neenah solar white cardstock using an alcohol marker friendly black ink. I cut them using the coordinating dies and colored everything using my Ohuhu markers and Graph'it brush markers. I've only used two stamp sets on this card: Pink Peonies for the flowers and leaves, and Foxy Friends for the foxes, watering can and birds. And once everything was colored, I added highlights and details to the images using a white gel pen.

I cut a 5,5 x 4,25 inches panel out of Strathmore bristol smooth, and used the Buffalo Plaid Straight die to add texture to my panel. I wanted my panel to match with the Pink Peonies, so I covered it with spun sugar oxide ink first, and then added a gingham pattern using the Straight Stripes stencil along with worn lipstick oxide ink. I splattered water all over the panel and dried it with a paper towel, mixed some worn lipstick distress spritz with water and added more splatters to my panel, and then did the same with copic opaque white ink and with festive berries oxide ink. Next I cut a Frilly Frame Lattice panel out of white cardstock, attached it to my Buffalo Plaid Straight panel using 1mm foam squares, and then stuck all the images using 1mm and 2mm foam squares.

For the greeting, I started off by cutting both pieces of my Brilliant Banner 3 out of vellum, white heat embossed "Thinking of you" from Watering Can on the main vellum piece, attached that main vellum piece to the back element using liquid glue, and then attached the banner to my panel using clear foam squares. I finally glued some clear droplets here and there to bring some shine to the card.

Pretty Pink Posh - Happy Easter

dimanche 20 avril 2025

Hi there, happy Easter!

I'm very happy to be back with this cute and fun Easter card featuring, as very often, a big mix & match of Pretty Pink Posh items from different seasons, including the Bunny Holder from one of the latest releases. Love that bunny so much, he's just so sweet!

I started off by cutting a large Eyelet Rectangle out of kraft cardstock, and I created a lovely background using the Springtime Borders stencils along with oxide inks: worn lipstick + mowed lawn for the tulips, fossilized amber + white pigment ink for the daisies, and spiced marmalade + rustic wilderness for the carrots. I mixed some vintage photo oxide ink with water and added splatters all over the panel using a slim brush, and did the same with copic opaque white ink for contrast and brightness. Once my background was totally dry, I added a white panel at the back to fill all the eyelets with white, attached my Eyelet Rectangle panel to a 5,5 x 4,25 inches orange plaid panel using 1mm foam tape, and then the whole piece to a white card base.

Next I cut all the bits and pieces out of colored cardstock and pattern papers using dies from multiple die sets. On the colored cardstock and woodgrain cardstock pieces, I added matching distress ink splatters, as well as ink on the edges, to make them less flat, and then white ink splatters. And on the pattern paper pieces, I only added white ink splatters.

Here is a detailed list of the die sets I used:  Bunny Holder - bunny, carrots, nose & mouth  Big Easter Cupcake - paws (feet), sign, cupcake wrap, heart cheeks  Easter Mug Additions - bow, eyebrows, paws (hands)  Big Valentine Cupcake - cake, whipped cream  Easter Bucket Additions - tulips  Spring Mug Additions - bees  Spooky Fence - fences.

Next I cut a large Eyelet Circle panel out of vellum, attached it right in the middle of my Springtime Borders panel using 1mm foam squares, placing those square only in the center of the vellum panel to keep them unnoticeable. I assembled a few things, such as the bunny face, paws, tulips and bees, and attached everything to my panel using 1mm and 2mm foam squares.

As for the final details, I white heat embossed "Hoppy Easter" from Easter Signs on the sign, and tucked it into the whipped cream. I gave the bunny a pair of large wiggle eyes and finally applied glossy accents to his nose to make it shiny and cute.

Sunny Studio - Little Red Riding Hood Themed Card

vendredi 18 avril 2025

Hello there,

I'm thrilled to be back on the Sunny Studio blog with this fun and lovely slimline scene featuring a character you might have recognized: Little Red Riding Hood. I created her using an image from Puddle Jumpers, and gave her some sweet and gentle wolf friends using images from Foxy Friends. Super fun!

I started off by stamping the images on 110lb Neenah solar white cardstock using an alcohol marker friendly black ink. For Little Red Riding Hood, I simply masked the duck details off the hood, applied the ink to the stamp, removed the washi tape and then stamped the image. I did this two or three times to get a really nice impression, cut all the images using the matching dies, and colored everything using my alcohol markers. I went for different shades of green for the trees, neutral warm grays for the wolves, turquoise the birds and of course red for Little Red Riding Hood, as well as the birdhouses for more red accents on the card.

Here is a detailed list of the stamp sets I used:  Foxy Friends - wolves, birds  Puddle Jumpers - little red riding hood  Seasonal Trees - trees, birdhouses, log  Bunnyville - grass, butterflies.

Next I cut a slimline panel out of Strathmore bristol smooth cardstock using a die from the Slimline Scalloped Frame die set, I divided it in half using washi tape, and colored both parts using oxide inks. I started with the lower section and blended mowed lawn and rustic wilderness oxide inks. I mixed some rustic wilderness oxide ink with water and used a slim brush to add splatters to the grass border. Next I moved on to the upper part, first covered the entire section with tumbled glass oxide ink, and then used a tree stencil from my stash along with broken china oxide ink to add a forest background to my scene. I splattered water on the upper section and dried the panel with a paper towel, mixed some broken china with water and added more splatters, and then mixed some copic opaque white ink with water and added white splatters all over my panel.

I added highlights and details to the images using a white gel pen, and once my panel was dry, I attached them all using 1mm and 2mm foam squares. I cut a slightly larger slimline panel out of white cardstock and attached my Little Red Riding Hood scene on top using liquid glue. I cut a scalloped panel out of yellow cardstock using another Slimline Scalloped Frame die, stuck it to an 8,5 x 3,5 inches card base using 1mm foam tape, and then attached my little scene using foam tape again because I like my cards to have dimension.

Finally I used a Brilliant Banner 1 die to cut a banner out of brown cardstock, white heat embossed "Life with you is an adventure" from Critter Campout on that banner, and attached it right above Little Red Riding Hood using foam squares again. And that's it! I've had this idea in mind for quite a while so I was very happy to finally create it and I'm glad of how it turned out. Love those little wolves so much! I hope you do too. Thanks so much for stopping by, and see you next time!
