Sunny Studio - An Enchanted Magic Picture Changer Card

mardi 26 mai 2020

Hello there,

For today's card I used a brand that I've never used before: Sunny Studio. I've been wanting to use their stamps for a very long time but never found the time so I'm very happy to share this card with you today.

I started with the coloring. I stamped the images using alcohol marker friendly black ink, and colored everything using my Spectrum Noir markers.

When it was done, I moved on to the background. I cut a 5,5 x 4,25" stitched rectangle out of bristol cardstock and used three shades of blue oxide inks to create a night sky: tumbled glass, peacock feathers and chipped sapphire. Like always I added texture: water drops, liquid stardust to create a million stars and drops of peacock feathers and chipped sapphire oxide inks mixed with water.

And to ground my scene, I die cut two grass borders that I colored using chipped sapphire and black soot oxide inks. I also added texture by splattering drops of black soot oxide ink mixed with water on those borders.

Next I white heat embossed my sentiment 'For my princess' on the smaller grass border, and moved on to the interactive part.

I cut two bristol panels: a long one for the pocket die and a short one for the moving piece die. I used a pencil to mark the window sections and next I stamped the images. On the short panel, the princess and on the long panel, the frog. I masked the images and used the same inks as before to color the background on those two panels. And next I colored the princess and the frog using my alcohol markers again.

When the coloring was done, I die cut the pocket panel and the moving piece. On the pocket panel, I applied double sided tape on the tabs, front and back. Next I folded the panel in half and folded the tabs as well. I removed the backing paper off the inside of the tabs, and folded the tabs again to adhere them. I used my bone folder to make sure that everything was sticking well, and I also used it to rub the flaps. I found that doing this helps the mechanism to work easily, and applying powder along the tabs and flaps helps a lot as well.

Next I folded the pocket panel in half and put the moving piece inside through the slit. And I put each flap into a small slit. I pulled on the tab to interlock everything, made sure that the moving piece was line up between the tabs, I removed the backing paper, and finally closed the pocket.

Next I cut a frame out of the oxide ink background and attached it on the magic picture changer pocket. I stuck the pocket on the right side of a dark blue card base, and adhered the remaining piece of background on the left using foam tape. I attached the grass borders and then I glued all the images on my panel using a combination of liquid glue, foam squares and glue dots. And finally, I added white highlights on the images like always, and I stuck the arrow handle at the top of the tab to be able to pull it.

Lawn Fawn - You're The Zest - Magic Iris Card

samedi 23 mai 2020

Hey there,

I'm back today with our cute mice family. The last time we saw them, they were making strawberry jam. This time, it's all about lemons: trees and pies!

I started with the coloring. Like always I used a whole lot of stamp sets and everything is listed below the video at the end of this post. All the images were stamped using jet black ink and colored using alcohol markers.

When it was done, I created the background. I die cut the front panel and the arrow handle and I kept everything together using washi tape. And I created a pretty sky using the Cloudy Stencil along with tumbled glass and salty ocean distress inks. I added texture by splattering water on the paper, and I also mixed the same inks with water to create blue splatters.

Next I cut three grass borders and used shabby shutters and mowed lawn distress inks to colored them. And for the texture, I mixed the same inks with water and splattered drops on the borders.

Next I moved on to the magic iris. Please check the video below to see the process ^^

When the Iris was done, I cut a 5,25 x 4" panel using a yellow paper from the Really Rainbow 6x6 paper pack, I lined up my front panel on top and glued the circle in the middle. I stamped my sentiment on the circle using the Harold's ABCs stamp set, and applied double sided tape on the entire front of the magic iris. I removed the backing papers, and placed the Iris behind the front panel. I align everything as nicely as possible to get all the clouds lined up. I pressed down to stick everything and next I applied doubled sided tape on the stabilizers only at the back of the iris.

I also added foam tape around the iris in order to have the same height as the ring everywhere, I removed all the backing papers, kept the Iris open and attached the panel to the yellow panel. And next I attached the grass borders. The tall one using double sided tape, and the others using foam tape and foam squares.

Next I attached all the images using glue dots, foam squares and liquid glue. When it was done, I cut a 5,5 x 4,25" stitched rectangle using a paper from the Spring Fling 6x6 paper pack, I stuck this paper on a cilantro card base, and attached my magic Iris panel on top.

Finally I cut the arrow out of cilantro cardstock and attached it on the handle, and added white highlights on the images to make them pop a little bit more.

Hello Bluebird - Mud Battle

vendredi 22 mai 2020

Hello there,

Today we join three cute little pigs that are having fun in the mud. I used the Farmland background stamp, as well as a pig from the Party on the farm stamp set, both from last release. And also a few others images so be sure to check the list of supplies below the video for more details.

I first started with the coloring. I stamped all the images on neenah solar white cardstock using potting soil ink and colored everything using my alcohol markers.

When the coloring was done, I cut the floating ring out, and used my white posca pen to erase the remaining brown lines. And then, I added mud stains to the pigs.

I cut the background elements out of strathmore bristol cardstock using the Ocean scene die, but I kept only two pieces that I colored using peeled paint, forest moss and ground espresso distress inks. I added texture by splattering drops of peeled paint and ground espresso inks mixed with water.

For the mud pond, I used gathered twigs and ground espresso distress inks. I added drops of water that I dried using my paper towel, and I used the same inks mixed with water to create splatters on this mud panel.

Next I created the sky. I cut a bristol panel, and used a cloud stencil to create a cloudy sky using broken china distress ink. And to get a more interesting sky, I created drops by splattering broken china distress ink with water all over the panel.

Next I cut a kraft card base and attached the sky panel on it using double sided tape. I stuck the farmland background on top of it using foam tape, and then I attached the borders.

I used a stamp from the Seaside girls stamp set and ground espresso distress ink to create waves in the mud. And next I attached the little pigs.

Next I created my own sentiment. I used a stamp from the Hippos on holidays stamp set. I stamped the words 'Sending you' and the word 'Smiles' using potting soil ink, and I die cut and glued the word 'Muddy' using the Oliver alpha die set to read 'Sending you muddy smiles'.

I added a fence from the Party on the farm stamp set as well as a bird from the Hippos on Holidays stamp setAnd finally I added some mud splatters and like always white highlights on the images.

Isabel Cristina Stamps - Bella & the Beast Pop-Up Box Card

mercredi 20 mai 2020

Hi there,

I'm back today with a box card featuring the new Bella and the beast digital stamp set designed by Isabel Cristina Stamps. It's a box card first of all because it's been a few months since the last one, and second I thought it was perfect design to recreate the ball room ^^

I first started by printing my images on 80 pounds neenah solar white cardstock, I cut them using my Scan 'n Cut machine and colored everything using my alcohol markers.

When the coloring was done, I created the card base. I cut two box card bases out of navy blue cardstock, as well as three insert pieces. I started by folding the vertical score lines using a bone folder, and then I get rid of all the flaps but one. The remaining flap will be the back of the card. And I added some shadows using black soot distress ink.

Next I cut two rectangles and two squares out of light blue cardstock using dies from the box card die set, and I used the snowy backdrop die by Lawn Fawn to create stars on those pieces. And to change those pieces into night skies, I applied chipped sapphire distress ink at the top of each element.

And for the stars, I chose a light gold glitter paper by Lawn Fawn. The color of this cardstock was just perfect and would coordinate very nicely with Bella's dress. So I attached the starry elements on those gold glitter pieces, and next I stuck everything on the card base.

Next I adhered the insert pieces and assembled the box card base.

Next I needed curtains to give the illusion of a window in the background, so I cut those elements using the shadow box card theater die set by Lawn Fawn. From a dark blue cardstock and gold mirror cardstock. And I attached the blue curtains on the gold ones, this way I get a subtle touch of shine. Next I stuck the curtains on the back of the box.

For the floor, I cut a strip as wide as the box card out of a wood pattern paper. I attached a piece of it right below the curtains, and next I cut one inch strips that I glued on each insert piece.

And finally I cut three hill borders that I attached on the bottom sections of the box under each starry sky.

Once the card base was done, I attached all my images using glue dots, liquid glue and foam squares like always. I white heat embossed my sentiment on dark blue cardstock, I stuck it on the same gold cardstock as the curtains and I stuck it beside the enchanted rose.

Lawn Fawn - #toiletpaperchallenge - Reveal Wheel Card

dimanche 17 mai 2020

Hi there,

The sanitary situation we are living now is extremely serious and difficult and I hope you guys are safe and healthy. But fortunately it hasn't stopped people from getting creative. Like this #toiletpaperchallenge I saw on Instagram. If you haven't seen it yet, it's pretty simple, you pile toilet paper rolls up and your dog or cat (or you maybe ^^) jumps over those piles. So I tried to recreate this challenge on a card and I hope you'll like it!

I started with the coloring. I stamped a bunch of toilet paper rolls from the Costume Party stamp set, as well as some cute kitties and accessories. Stamped everything using Jet Black ink and because there was a lot of the same image to cut, I used my Scan 'n Cut to make it faster.

When the coloring was done, I picked a paper from the Hello Sunshine Remix 6x6 paper pack, and used the Reveal Wheel die to cut a panel out of this paper. And to ground my scene I used the same die again to cut a rectangle out of a light green paper from the Spiffy Speckles 6x6 paper pack.

I attached it at the bottom of the blue panel, and then I added a baseboard that was cut out of Fog cardstock using a die from the Picket Fence die set.

Next I stamped my sentiment from the Meow You Doin' stamp set at the bottom of my panel and I moved on to the interactive part. I cut the wheel and the small circle out of Mermaid cardstock and I also picked a small brad from my stash.

I first put the brad into the small circle and next into the wheel at the back. I opened the brad to keep those pieces together, and then I applied foam squares on the small circle.

I removed the backing paper and attached the wheel on a rainbow paper that was cut out from the Hello Sunshine Remix 6x6 paper packNext I applied foam squares at the back of the front panel, and I attached it on top of the wheel.

Next I attached the images, starting with the jumping kitty. I adhered foam squares on the wheel, next I applied a little bit of powder on the edges of those squares to get rid of any stickiness on the sides and finally I attached the cat.

For the toilet paper roll piles, I started by cutting the white edge on the left of each roll. Next I created four lines of toilet paper rolls using glue dots. And then I attached the remaining images on the panel.

When everything was attached, I stamped a bunch of 'Yays' from the Hap-pea stamp set all around the jumping kitty, and to show how the wheel works, I die cut two arrows. I stuck the first one with the pointy end looking down, and I cut the head out of the second arrow and I stuck this head at the top of the first arrow.

Hello Bluebird - Sweet Strawberries

mercredi 6 mai 2020

Hello there,

I'm back with a new card for Hello Bluebird and because I'm still in a fruit and veggie mood, I colored a bunch of strawberries to create an arch. Hope you'll like it!

So I started by creating a very simple watercolored background using tattered rose and festive berries distress inks mixed with water. Next I added texture by splattering water first, and next drops of festive berries.

Next I stamped my images using Potting Soil ink by Ranger. I colored them using my alcohol markers, and then cut everything using the coordinating dies. When it was done, I stuck everything using foam squares, liquid glue and glue dots.

Next I stamped my sentiment using the same as before, and attached my panel to a white card base. Finally I glued a few clear sequins here and there to bring some sparkles to the card, and added white drops in the middle of the smallest flowers.
