Hello there,
I'm thrilled to be back with this shaker card featuring a mix & match of Pretty Pink Posh items. Once again, it was super fun to go through my entire stash and find the dies that could fit in my little winter scene.
I started off by cutting an Eyelet Rectangle panel out of kraft cardstock that I colored using the Layered Snowmen stencils. And most of the times when I stencil on kraft cardstock, I like to start with a white layer, so I used the stencil #1 and #2 along with white pigment ink to create that white base. Next I used all three stencils one after the other, shifted them a tiny bit towards the right, and used oxide inks to create the snowmen: tumbled glass for the bodies, broken china for the scarves, hickory smoke for the hats, vintage photo for the arms, black soot for the eyes and mouths, and carved pumpkin for the carrot noses. And since I created a white base first, we get a nice white border around each snowman in the end.
I mixed some copic opaque white ink with water, and used a slim brush to add splatters to my panel. I did the same with brushed pewter distress mica spray, and set my panel aside to dry.
Next I die cut the different pieces to build my Snowman Shaker, and assembled them:
1. Cut a Snowman Shaker frame out of white cardstock, stuck it to vellum using liquid glue, and trimmed the excess of vellum all around the snowman
2. At the back of the snowman, added foam strips all around the frame, following the rounded shapes
3. Poured a bunch of Snow Day shaker beads inside the frame
4. Put the Snowman Shaker die on a piece of colored cardstock (I used light blue cardstock), used a pencil to trace all around the die, and cut the snowman shape slightly smaller than what I just traced
5. Peeled the backing papers off the foam strips, and attached the light blue (or different color) snowman to the foam strips to totally close the Snowman Shaker
6. Cut the arms out of light brown woodgrain cardstock, and stuck them to the front of the snowman using liquid glue
7. Cut a Snowman Shaker out of textured white cardstock, cut the arms off, and attached the snowman frame to the shaker using liquid glue
I die cut a few pieces out of colored cardstock to bring my Snowman Shaker to life, and here is a detailed list of the die sets I used: • Snowman Shaker - hat, carrot nose • Big Christmas Cupcake - bow • Fall Mug Additions - scarf • Holiday Wreath Builder - cheeks • Big Easter Cupcake - heart.
I stuck my Eyelet Rectangle panel to a white and light grey 5,5 x 4,25 inches panel using 1mm foam squares, attached my Snowman Shaker on the panel using liquid glue, stabilized the arms using 2mm foam squares, and added all the bits and pieces using liquid glue and foam squares. I had to trim the scarf to make it smaller, and covered the cut with the rounded piece. To make my snowman extra fun, I gave him a pair of wiggly eyes, and a couple of birdie friends from Love From Afar.
Next I white heat embossed several Snowflakes on vellum, cut them using the matching dies, and stuck them all around the snowman using a dot of liquid glue at the back of each snowflake. I also white heat embossed my "Winter Greetings" sentiment from Snowflakes on dark grey cardstock, cut it using the matching die, and attached it below the snowman using foam squares.
I attached my panel to a white card base, and finally added a bunch of cute details: opaque white grit paste here and there for a nice frosty/snowy effect, a snowflake from the Candy Cane Lane Confetti mix on the bow, an Aqua Shimmer sequin in the middle of each snowflake, and then a Marshmallow pearl inside each sequin.
