[Part 1] Favorite Spectrum Noir Combos: blues, violets, pinks & reds

Hey there,

Today I'm sharing with you my first favorite spectrum noir combos post. This is the first part, there will be a second and a third that I will share on the two next Wednesdays.



I've built my collection through the years, and received the last markers at Christmas so now my chart is complete but I'm not a spectrum noir marker expert and I won't pretend to be all-knowing.

It's just that I've been using them for a few years now, and I thought it would be nice to share some of my favorite combinaisons.



I stamped starfishes on Neenah solar white cardstock using memento tuxedo black ink.

I like to keep my coloring simple because I tend to create busy cards with a lot of images so I don't want to spend hours on it, even though i really enjoy the coloring process.




When I use two colors, I like to cover the whole image using the light marker. Next I use the dark marker to make shadows. Then I use the light marker to blend both colors. Usually I do this process twice to get a deeper result. And finally I always add more shadows using the dark marker only.



I occasionally use three colors, and when I do, I cover the whole image using the light marker. Next I use the medium marker to make shadows, and the dark marker for more depth. I use the medium marker again to blend the dark color, and then the light marker to blend the medium color into the light. I do this process twice and finally I add more shadows using the dark marker only.

Hello Bluebird - Fishing in the pond

Hello there,

Today's card features stamps and dies from Hello Bluebird. And as always i used a lot of images to create this cute scene.

If you follow me for some time, you know that the first thing I like to do is to stamp my images. And if I plan to use my alcohol markers I always stamp them on Neenah solar white cardstock using memento tuxedo black ink.

I die cut a skating pond scene from bristol cardstock and decided to make some changes. I wanted to have two grass sections at the top and bottom of the pond. So I took another piece of bristol cardstock,ndie cut grass elements and used the pieces I wanted to change as guides to trim the edges.

Next I colored all the background elements.  Ponds never look like blue lagoons so I used shabby shutters and broken China distress inks to color it. The grass elements were colored using shabby shutters distress ink as a base and peeled paint distress ink for shadows and depth. I took the same inks and splattered some drops on top of them using a small brush to add more texture and interest to the scene. Gathered twigs and ground espresso were used to color the trees.

On a bristol panel I traced pencils marks to know exactly where to color the sky using tumbled glass all over and broken china distress inks at the top.

Next I attached the sky panel to a white card base. And because I'm not using the frame that comes originally with the skating pond die, the final measurements are 5,5 x 4-1/16 inches.

Then I stuck all the background elements down. The pond using double sided tape. And the grass elements using 2mm foam adhesive squares. The trees were also attached using 2mm foam adhesive squares.

I also die cut a scallop border to use as foliage, it was colored using the same process and colors as the grass elements. And it was attached using 3mm adhesive squares. 

I white heat embossed my sentiment at the very top of the panel and added white highlights to the images, and next I attached them. Some were glued using 1mm and 2mm foam adhesive squares, some using glue dots, depending on where I wanted to place them.

I've made another fishing card inspired by this one using Lawn Fawn supplies, I'll share it very soon so stay tuned! ^^

Guest Designer for Lawn Fawnatics 2

Hello there,

I'm back with the second card I've created as a guest designer for the What's the weather Lawn Fawnatics Challenge. This time I used traditional rainbow colors, played with my oxide inks and created my own umbrella.



I stamped the images on Neenah solar white cardstock using Memento tuxedo black ink. The umbrella was made using the biggest hot air balloon from the Blue Skies stamp set. I drew the umbrella shape using a pencil, colored it using my spectrum noir markers, and used a black pen to complete it, trying to match the rest of the image as much as i could.

The other images were also colored using the same markers, and everything was cut using the coordinating dies. I fussy cut the rest of the hot air balloon to finally change it into an umbrella.



For the ground, I used hickory smoke distress ink with a lot of water to get a light grey. I dried the ink, applied more grey and dried again.

For the sky I used tumbled glass, stormy sky and chipped sapphire oxide inks. I first applied water on the paper and then played with the colors.  Tumbled glass first. Next stormy sky at the top and then chipped sapphire at the very top. I dried the panel and did this process a second time. And to give the illusion of rain, I splattered water on the panel and dried it. I also did tone on tone splatters using the same oxide inks.



I cut my paper to a 5.5 by 4.25 inches panel and picked some oxide inks in rainbow colors: candied apple, spiced marmalade, mustard seed, mowed lawn and salty ocean. Bright colors to stamp rain drops. I know there is an umbrella so it's not supposed to be raining under it but I thought it would be cute and kind of magical to add those drops.

I cut the sentiment stamp to make it one line, bent it to follow the curve of the umbrella and white heat embossed it. I attached my panel on a white card base and attached the images using foam adhesive squares. And one last final touch: I added a white nuvo drop in the center of the flower.

Guest Designer for Lawn Fawnatics 1

Hello there,

I am beyond excited to share with you this card I've made as a Guest Designer for the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge. I am truly honored that I have been asked to join the challenge team for this What's the weather theme. I had a lot of fun creating this card and I hope you'll like it.

As always I searched my entire collection, looking for images and dies that could match the theme. I first started by die cutting a cloud backdrop from bristol cardstock. It was my first time using it, and I really love the stitched details, it's just perfect to add subtle interest to a project.

I covered the whole panel using tumbled glass oxide ink. Next I applied peacock feathers oxide ink but just on the edges to add more depth, and then I blended both colors using the tumbled glass ink.

I die cut a rainbow from Neenah solar white cardstock and used non traditional colors to color it. Actually I was inspired by a picture I saw a few weeks ago online and thought it would be fun to try to recreate it.

I used the coordinating sun die from the Out this world stamp set and colored it using my markers. All the rainbow elements were glued together on a piece of cardstock. This way it would be easier to manipulate and to attached on the cloud panel. Before cutting the rainbow I added dots on each rainbow piece but they will be mostly covered by glitter.

I wanted my sentiment to follow the curve of the rainbow so I simply used the die as a guide to help me bend the stamp. I applied versamark ink and white heat embossed it.  I also stamped and white heat embossed some diamond shapes around the sentiment. And to add more contrast I stamped those diamond shapes using the same inks as the ones used for the background: tumbled glass and peacock feathers.

Next I applied liquid glue on each element of the rainbow, along the dark edges, and sprinkled chunky glitter on them. I'm not a big fan of glitter because it sticks to everything but it was definitely worth it.

I attached the cloud panel to a white card base and attached the rainbow on top of it using 1mm adhesive squares. I cut the sun in half, attached it under the rainbow using the same adhesive squares and applied clear shimmer on top of it. Finally, the clouds were attached using 3mm adhesive squares.

I hope you like this non traditional rainbow. I have another card to share for this challenge and I can't wait to share it next week!

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #46 - Colorful Garden - Box Card

Hey there,

Today I'm sharing with you a box card featuring the Fairy friends stamp set, one of my favorite, and some other sets. The colors I used were inspired by the latest Lawn Fawnatics Challenge.

I first started by die cutting two box card panels anf five flaps (but I only used four of them) from Chill Pepper cardstock, two small and two large rectangles from Pink Tutu cardstock (Really Rainbow 6x6 paper pack), and finally two small scalloped rectangle and two large scalloped rectangles from gold glitter paper using the box card die.

I attached together both of the box card panels, folded the sides of the box and three of the flaps. The fourth flap will be the back of the box. Next I attached the gold glitter rectangles on the flaps, and then the Pink Tutu rectangles on top.

I folded on one side the flaps of the insert elements and attached them inside the box. Next I folded the other flaps, aligned the insert elements with each othe, removed the back of the tape, and folded down the box panel to attach those flaps. Finally I removed the remaining tape and closed the box.

I die cut five grass borders and three smaller ones from grey cardstock. The small ones were created using the rectangle dies from the box card set first, and then the grass border die. This way they have the same stitched details as the Pink Tutu elements.

As always, the images were stamped on Neenah solar white cardstock using memento tuxedo black ink. Everything was colored using Spectrum Noir markers and cut using the coordinating dies. I added white highlights on the images using a Sakura white gel pen and applied White Blizzard Nuvo drops on the fairies wings for a touch of sparkle.

My sentiment was stamped on the front flap using Versamark ink and white heat embossed. Doing this step before attaching the papers to the flap would have been more practical but it went pretty well anyway.

And finally I attached all the images on the flaps and inside the box using glue dots.
