Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #33 - Under The Sea Simple Fun Fold Card - Zig Coloring

jeudi 2 août 2018

Hello there,

I really love Lawn Fawnatics Challenges and I always try to create something for it. This time, the theme is Fun Folds, and as Under the sea themed projects are my favorite to make, I just couldn't help myself but using a bunch of fishes, mermaids, etc... And even some two cute pirates searching for a treasure ^^ The process was quite long as there was a lot of images to color but I think the result is totally worth it ^^

I first started by cutting a large rectangle from bristol cardstock (measurements: 12" x 5,5") and traced pencils lines at 2" and 4" from each small sides to get an idea of the different folded parts.

Next right above the top pencil line, I traced a wave line and a hill line for the ocean and a dune. And then at the very bottom of the panel, I traced some other lines using a die to create sand.

Stamped all my images using black alcohol marker friendly ink and masking paper on some areas, and colored everything: the background using some distress inks, and the images using my zig markers with water.

I traced black lines over the pencil drawings previously made for the waves, dune and sand to coordinate with the images, and then I scored lines on the pencils lines made at the beginning to be able to fold the card.

I added clear glitter on the treasure and the mermaids tails, and glossy accents on the red diamond. Finally I stamped a lot of water bubbles and added clear drops on top.

Under The Sea Card Series || TriFold Card || Zig Coloring || Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #29

lundi 28 mai 2018

Hey there,

I've been wanting to make a trifold card for a very long time so when I received the new "You Are Sublime" stamp set by Lawn Fawn, I immediately jumped at the chance and took all my Lawn Fawn sea/ocean themed sets out to create this one layer card.

I also was inspired by this image:

I first started by cutting a long rectangle of bristol smooth cardstock (14 x 27 cm), and traced pencil lines every 9 cm on the long side, so that's 2 lines, to create three equal parts.

I stamped all the images using black waterproof ink (not Memento tuxedo black ink, as said in the video ^^), and masked everything so I can apply distress inks for my background.

So for the background... I die cut two cloud borders from masking paper and adhered them at the bottom of the trifold panel to create the ground. I used two shades of brown distress inks, and then splattered some drops of the darkest one here and there to give the illusion of sand.

Next, I die cut a wave border from masking paper and adhered it at the top of the trifold panel, I also masked the ground so I could ink the middle part of the panel. I used three shades of blue distress inks for that.

I inked up the top part of the panel using the same masking technique and some dark blue and black distress inks. Next I peeled all the masking elements, and splattered water on the whole panel to give the illusion of bubbles.

I colored everything using my zig markers, then stamped bubbles here and there around the critters, and gold heat embossed my sentiment on the top part of the panel. I added black dots to everyone's eyes, put some white highlights on them and applied clear enamel dots on the bubbles to finish the card.

Craftin Desert Divas - Happy birthday from the savannah - Trifold Card

mercredi 16 août 2017

Hey there,

Here is the third card of the series I've made as a guest designer using the new stamp set from Craftin Desert Divas called "Get Wild". Creating it was so much fun, but I think I should have made the same type of background as the one I made on the Life on Mars card because on this one, it's a little bit too thick when the card is closed. But I still love it anyway!

I first started by die cutting a long strip of grass and two long strips of hills to create the bottom of my card. I colored the three pieces using the same color combo of distress inks. Then I created the sky. I wanted it to be kind of a morning sky so I used a pale yellow ink and a bright blue ink that I blended together. I sprayed water on top of it and blotted it to create a nice effect on that sky.

I divided each piece in three and attached them at the bottom of my trifold card using double sided tape for the hills and liquid glue for the grass.

Then I stamped all my images on alcohol marker friendly white cardstock, colored and fussy cut them. I also stamped my sentiment on the middle part of the trifold card.

I die cut clouds from vellum and white cardstock that I glued on the left and right parts of the card, and then I attached all my images using liquid glue. And finally I used a dark brown marker to add some shadows under each character.

Craftin Desert Divas - Life on Mars - Trifold Card

mardi 8 août 2017

Hello there,

Today I'm sharing a trifold card I absolutely looooooved to make! When I saw these cuties, I immediately thought about sending them on Mars so they kinda could be the first humans walking and having fun on this planet!

I first started by creating the background. For the ground, I used several layers of masking paper and three different distress inks to color all the parts. And for the sky, I simply blended three colors together. I took inspiration in a picture I saw on Google.

I colored my images using the same colors for each one of them. I thought the color red would be perfect for them. And look at this little monkey, isn't he too cute in his space suit?!

Then I blended the same colors as the ones I had used for the sky so I can die cut coordinated stars from it. I also die cut those tiny stars from gold glitter paper, and started to attached all my elements on the card: the monkey and the girl on the top part, the boy with the flag on the middle one, the boy in the space car on the bottom part, and the stars.

I stamped my sentiment on the middle part, and added a bunch of light brown and gold dots on the darker areas of the ground to finish the card.
