Lawn Fawn - BBQ Magic Picture Changer Card

jeudi 4 août 2022

Hi there,

I'm thrilled to be back on Lawn Fawn YouTube Channel and Blog with this new super cute and fun scene. Today we are the witnesses of a theft, the neighborhood doggies have joined forces against the humans to steal some delicious grilled sausages.

When I make a Magic picture changer card, I always start by making the background, so this is what I did. I cut a 5,5 x 4,25" bristol panel, and used stencils along with oxide inks to create my background. For the bottom part, I used the Grassy stencil with mowed lawn + rustic wilderness to make two grass borders. For the middle part, I used the Skinny stripes stencil with tea dye + vintage photo + ground espresso to make a wooden fence. And for the top part I used the Cloudy stencil with tumbled glass + salty ocean to make a simple sky.

Next I used the frame die from the Magic picture changer die set to cut a frame out of my background panel. And then I created the interactive element. I invite you to watch the process video down below to see exactly how it was done.

I stamped some additional images using Jet black ink, I cut them all using the coordinating dies, and colored everything using my alcohol markers. Next I attached the frame on the interactive pocket, and then I assembled the different elements on a card base: the interactive pocket using double sided tape, the remaining piece of background panel using foam tape, and all the images using foam squares and liquid glue.

The corners and legs of the barbecue were hidden because of the interactive mechanism, so to fix that, I stamped and colored an additional barbecue, and I stuck it on the card.

For the sentiment I stamped the words "It's time to" on the upper part of the panel, and I cut some letters using Henry's ABCs to make the word "Pawty" that I attached above the dogs using liquid glue. And the final step, I cut the decorative handle out of turquoise cardstock, folded it in half and attached it at the end of the pull tab using liquid glue, and I added the arrow that I cut out of yellow cardstock right in the middle.

Sunny Studio - Little Birdie Mini Slimline Baby Card

jeudi 17 mars 2022

 Hello there,

I'm back on Sunny Studio blog with a new interactive card featuring the adorable Little Birdie stamp set. With that set, I've already created tropical birds and canaries, and today, I'm making a sparrow family welcoming a new baby bird.

I started off with the interactive part of the cart, and created two little nests using some images from several sets: the nest is from Little birdie, the egg is from Farm fresh, the grass is from Holy night and the teeny tiny bird is from Seasonal trees. I did some masking and colored those images using my alcohol markers. You can check the video down below to watch the whole masking process, as well as the construction of the interactive element.

For the background, I cut a 6 x 3" mini slimline panel out of bristol cardstock, and I covered it first with spun sugar distress ink to get a nice and even soft pink base. And to give more interest to this plain background, I used a cloud stencil from my stash along with kitsch flamingo distress ink to create a lovely cloudy sky all over the panel. I also added some texture to this background: water splatters, white ink splatters, and worn lipstick distress ink mixed with water splatters.

Once the interactive element was done, I stamped additional images: some birds and the branch from Little birdie and some hearts from Fabulous flamingos using an alcohol marker friendly black ink and colored everything using my alcohol markers.

I cut those images using the coordinating dies, and next I created my sentiment in two parts. First part: I cut the word "Hello" from the Slimline scalloped frame die set out of red cardstock and out of white cardstock, and I stuck the white "Hello" at the back of the red one to create an outline. Next I white embossed the banner and the word "Tweetheart" from Little birdie on vellum, and I die cut the pull tab decorative pieces.

And then I assembled everything on a 6 x 3 inches white card base. I attached the pocket using liquid glue, and the background piece using foam to be at the height as the pocket, next the handle at the end of the pull tab, and then the word "Hello" at the top of the panel, with the vellum banner right below. And finally the cute little sparrows and branch using foam squares, and the hearts using liquid glue.

At the end, I added highlights on the images using a white gel pen, and added glossy accents on the word "Hello" for a touch of shine on the card.

And that's it. A lovely little scene with a sparrow family welcoming a teeny tiny baby sparrow to the world. I hope you like this new sweet and cute interactive card, thanks for stopping by and see you next week!

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #48 || Inspired by a book, movie or song || Let's go fly a kite

samedi 16 mars 2019

Hello there,

Today's card was inspired by one of my all time favorite movie and a beautiful song from it: "Let's go fly a kite" in Mary Poppins.

There is quite a lot of things on this card: I used the pull tab add-on for the time, I did some masking to make Jane and Michael stand on their feet, I used oxide inks and of course I did some spectrum noir coloring. So it took me some time to create it but I just love the whole final scene so it was totally worth it.

I stamped my images on Neenah solar white cardstock using memento tuxedo black ink. Like I said before I wanted to make Jane and Michael stand on their feet. So for Jane I masked the bottom of her body and stamped the top only. Next I drew her dress. And used the same stamp again for the legs.

I mirror stamped Michael because I wanted him to face his sister. So I masked the bottom of his body and stamped the top on acetate. I turned the acetate over and applied it on the paper. Next I drew his short pants. And I made his legs from Jane's using tracing paper.

All the images were colored using my alcohol markers. When Jane and Michael were done I outlined them using a fabercastel pen. I cut all the images using the coordinating dies, fussy cut Jane and Michael, as well as Mary Poppins hair to make them shorter.

I cut a long panel and a cloud border from bristol cardstock, and a fence border from wood textured paper.

For the ground I first applied scattered straw oxide ink. And next I created a tile texture using a stencil and vintage photo oxide ink that I applied with a very light hand. I used shabby shutters and mowed lawn oxide inks to color the cloud border. The fence was a little too flat so I added vintage photo for more texture. And the sky was simply made using tumbled glass and salty ocean oxide inks.

To create the pull tab mechanism, I first started by tracing a vertical pencil line right in the middle of the panel. Next I die cut a notch. I took the largest cloud die, marked the top of it, put the top of the slot die on the pencil mark and along the vertical mark and die cut the slot.

Next i die cut the pull tab. I folded the score lines, erased the pencil lines, and put it through the slot from the back of the panel. I put double sided tape on both of the small tabs and attached a cloud that will be behind Mary Poppins.

I die cut the sleeve, folded the score lines, and attached it at the back of the panel to help the tab go up and down straight.

Mary poppins was glued on the cloud, I added a small one just below her and attached the main cloud using foam adhesive squares.

Next I worked on the bottom part by attaching the elements. I added more clouds and attached Jane and Michael using several layers of foam adhesive squares.

I created the card base by attaching together two long pieces of white cardstock. And attached my panel using two layers of foam tape. I made sure to avoid the pull tab to let it work correctly.

Finally I stamped my sentiment on the largest cloud, gold heat embossed the word hello and cut it using the coordinating die.

Valentine Card Mini Series - Candy Heart Air Balloons

mercredi 30 janvier 2019

Hello there,

Today I'm sharing with you a trio of valentine cards. They're cute and bright, and very easy and quick to make.

I first started by die cutting the hearts. I cut three different hearts from plaid papers, three plain hearts from white cardstock and another set of three white plain hearts but only to keep the letters. I glued each white heart at the back of a plaid heart, and then added the letters.

I wanted to make those candy hearts as hot air balloons so I stamped three of them on Neenah solar white cardstock using memento tuxedo black ink, and did a little bit of coloring using my spectrum noir markers to match the candy hearts.

I didn't need the balloons so I cut them and replaced them by the candy hearts using my 2 way zig liquid glue.

I cut three bristol cardstock squares, and attached a circle mask on each one. On the 1st one I applied squeezed lemonade oxide ink, on the 2nd one I applied twisted citron oxide ink, and on the last one I applied spun sugar oxide ink. Water was also splattered and dried using paper towel on each panel.

Next I applied sugar glitter paste on each panel using a polka dot stencil. And when it was done I removed all the masking circles. The cards were finally assembled following the same process: a white card base, next a colored cardstock matching the candy hearts and then the main panel.

The candy heart balloons and the clouds were attached using foam adhesive squares. And a final touch I added morning dew nuvo drops on each panel.

Valentine Card Mini Series - Love is in the air

samedi 19 janvier 2019

Hello there,

Today I'm back with a new valentine card. I didn't put a lot of critters or layers as I usually do so it's quite simple but very cute at the same time. I'm also entering this card to the "Happy Little Critters" Lawn Fawnatics Challenge ^^

I first started by stamping my images on Neenah solar white cardstock using memento tuxedo black ink, next I colored them using my spectrum noir markers and I cut them using the coordinating dies.

I used the sentiment "I love you" from the new I love you(calyptus) stamp set. To stamp one letter at a time I simply masked the others using washi tape, applied versamark ink, removed the tape, stamped the letter on a flag and then white heat embossed it.

And then I white heat embossed a small heart stamp on the remaining flag.

To build the background, I die cut four cloud borders from white cardstock, and also some small hearts from masking paper that I attached on a bristol panel that I colored using tumbled glass and salty ocean oxide inks.

To give some dimension to the clouds I applied hickory smoke distress ink on top of them but only along the puffy edges. I even added white blizzard Nuvo drops on those puffy edges to make them stand out more.

Next step was attaching everything. The borders were attached using double sided tape and the images were attached using 2mm and 1mm foam adhesive squares.

The background was still a little too flat to me so I took the small heart from the sentiment and used salty ocean and tumbled glass oxide inks to stamp a bunch of them and do like a ton on ton effect.

Finally I added more sparkles to the card by applying white blizzard Nuvo drops on the small white hearts and clear shimmer to the balloons.

Isabel Cristina Stamps - Frozen

mercredi 16 janvier 2019

Hello there,

Today I'm sharing two cards i made using a new digital set by Isabel Cristina Stamps. It's called Winter Princess and is all about the disney movie Frozen. Here's a close-up look at the set:

A quick note about Isabel Cristina digital sets: easy print pages are included in her sets and the images already have the perfect size. No need to edit them on a computer.

When I use digital stamps, I always print the images on Neenah solar white cardstock using my Epson printer. It is a pretty old ink jet printer but it does the job perfectly.

For the card featuring Elsa and her castle, I first colored her using my spectrum noir markers. Frozen is a very famous movie and the characters are super popular but still, I had a picture of them on my phone to make sure I was using the right colors ^^

Using the same markers and a white gel pen, I added a bunch of tiny dots on the shadows to give the illusion of sparkles.

To create the castle, I folded in half a large piece of masking paper, drew some basic shapes and lines and cut it. I attached the masking castle on a bristol panel using a T ruler to make sure it was centered and straight.

I also cut a hill shape from masking paper and attached it at the bottom of my panel.

I used tumbled glasse and peacock feathers oxide inks to create the sky, and applied sugar glitter paste by using a snowflake stencil.

For the sentiment I print another page using a laser printer, cut the sentiment I wanted to use, placed it in a folded paper with a piece of silver foil on top and put it through my laminator. Its a cheap one I bought a few months ago at my local supermarket.

To make it more resistant I attached the copy paper sentiment on a piece of cardstock, cut another masking hill border that I attached at the bottom of my panel and applied tumbled glass oxide ink. This way Elsa isn't floating in the air ^^

I attached the sentiment and image using foam adhesive squares, added a bunch of sequins and a snowflake at the top of the castle, and attached my panel to a white card base to finish the card.

For the second card, I colored the rest of the images: Anna, Olaf, Kristoff and Sven. I added some details on Anna's clothes, trying to match the movie.

I took my printed copy paper, cut the bottom with the big sentiment and snowflakes, and die cut a stitched rectangle from it.

I placed the panel with the silver foil on top in a folded paper, and put it through my laminator.  Next i attached it to some cardstock to make it more resistant.

I die cut a scallop rectangle from shinny paper, attached it to a white card base.

Next I attached the foiled panel. And then the images using foam adhesive squares to finish this second card.

Holiday Card Series 2018 - Christmas Under the Sea - One Layer Card

samedi 17 novembre 2018

Hello there,

Back with a card that combines my two favorite themes: under the sea + christmas. It's a one layer card with a lot of masking, so the process was kind of long but so fun. I even customized the submarine so we can see the see horse elf driving it ^^

I first started by stamping all the images on Neenah solar white cardstock using Memento back ink.

Next I cut large pieces of masking paper, attached them one at a time on my panel to create hills in my scene, and applied distress inks.

Then I finally removed all the masking elements, splattered water on my panel to create water bubbles, and colored the images using alcohol markers.

Next I white heat embossed my sentiment, stamped more bubbles that I covered with clear Nuvo drops, added white highlights on some images and finally attached the panel on a white card base.

Under The Sea Card Series - Deep Down the Ocean - One Layer Card

samedi 27 octobre 2018

Hey there,

The castle I used on this card is from a pretty old set but I've always wanted to buy it. So when I received it I immediately sat at my desk, wondering what I could create with it. As you may know, under water projects are one of my favorite things to make so I thought a castle deep down the ocean would be a cool idea. I used a bunch of other sets to help me create this one layer scene.

I first started by stamping all the images on Strathmore bristol smooth cardstock using alcohol marker friendly black ink. I chose this paper because it helps blending inks beautifully, and I knew I wanted to use distress inks for the background. Plus, alcohol markers work really well on that paper.

I masked the stamped images along the process, according to if I wanted an image to be in front of or behing another image. Once all the images were stamped and masked, I cut hill forms in masking paper, attached them on my panel one after the other, and applied different shades of blue and violet distress inks.

I removed all the masking pieces (my favorite part of the process ^^), and to add more interest to the background, I sprayed water that I dried with paper towel. Next I colored everything using my alcohol markers. I added black details to the fishes eyes, some white highlights to the castle roofs, white heat embossed my sentiment, and attached my panel to a white card base to finish the project.

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #33 - Under The Sea Simple Fun Fold Card - Zig Coloring

jeudi 2 août 2018

Hello there,

I really love Lawn Fawnatics Challenges and I always try to create something for it. This time, the theme is Fun Folds, and as Under the sea themed projects are my favorite to make, I just couldn't help myself but using a bunch of fishes, mermaids, etc... And even some two cute pirates searching for a treasure ^^ The process was quite long as there was a lot of images to color but I think the result is totally worth it ^^

I first started by cutting a large rectangle from bristol cardstock (measurements: 12" x 5,5") and traced pencils lines at 2" and 4" from each small sides to get an idea of the different folded parts.

Next right above the top pencil line, I traced a wave line and a hill line for the ocean and a dune. And then at the very bottom of the panel, I traced some other lines using a die to create sand.

Stamped all my images using black alcohol marker friendly ink and masking paper on some areas, and colored everything: the background using some distress inks, and the images using my zig markers with water.

I traced black lines over the pencil drawings previously made for the waves, dune and sand to coordinate with the images, and then I scored lines on the pencils lines made at the beginning to be able to fold the card.

I added clear glitter on the treasure and the mermaids tails, and glossy accents on the red diamond. Finally I stamped a lot of water bubbles and added clear drops on top.
