Christmas in July Card Series w/ Sunny Studio - Ocean View & Sandman

Hey there,

I'm so happy to be back on Sunny Studio blog with more Christmas in July inspiration! Today I'm featuring the gorgeous Ocean view stamp set, and a cute snowman from Feeling frosty that I turned into a sandman.

I started off with the coloring. I stamped the Ocean view image on a large piece of cardstock, and colored it using my alcohol markers. And I picked a few additional stamps from different sets to complete my scene:

- Christmas critters: the Christmas hat

- Farm fresh: a crow that will become a seagull

- Balloon rides: the sun

- Savanna safari: the small rocks + grass

I wanted both crabs to look at the sandman. One of them was already looking in the right direction, but the other one was not. So I stamped a third crab and cut his eyes off, and I stuck those eyes on the second crab to make him look at the sandman.

I trimmed the Ocean view panel into a 5,5 x 4,25" portrait panel, and then used the coordinating die to get rid of the top of the panel. I also cut a piece of Spring sunburst pattern paper to make the sky, and I attached both pieces on a card base.

I stamped my sentiment at the bottom of the panel using words from two different sets: "Have a" + "Christmas" from Lazy Christmas, and "Clawsome" from Best fishes to get the following phrase "Have a clawsome Christmas". And next I attached all the images on the panel using foam squares.

As always I finished my card by adding highlights and details to the images using a white gel pen, I added a bunch of dots on the ocean lines to bring a reflection effect to the waves.

Hello Bluebird - Country Roads Background

 Hey there,

Today I'm showcasing the lovely Country Roads Background stamp by Hello Bluebird, and I paired it with two cuties from Besties to create a sweet little countryside scene.

I started by stamping the entire scene on white cardstock, and from that panel I cut a smaller panel to frame my scene. I used memento tuxedo black ink to stamp it and used my alcohol markers to color the scene.

For the sky, I used distress ink, just like my Mushroom House card. I used a cloud stencil along with tumbled glass distress ink to create that sky, and next I even added a tiny bit of texture by mixing some salty ocean distress ink with water and creating splatters on the clouds.

I drew a bunch of white dots on the grass section to give the illusion of daisies, and then I stuck my images on the panel using foam squares. And finally I attached my panel on a light blue panel that I stuck in a yellow pattern paper.

Hello Bluebird - Mushroom House Background

Hi there,

It's time to celebrate Hello Bluebird new release! It includes brand new background clear stamps. And the rubber background stamps previously released are back in the shop as well but as clear stamps! Yay!

My first card showcases the Mushroom House Background stamp, which the perfect image to set a lovely scene with gnomes, but also critters and why not fairies!

I started by stamping the image on a 5,5 x 4,25" panel using memento tuxedo black ink on 80lbs neenah solar white cardstock and used my alcohol markers to colors the panel.

Once it was all colored, I did the sky. I wanted it to be pretty simple to let the house be the star of the card so I just used tumbled glass and a cloud stencil to create that sky. And when it was done, I even added some texture by mixing the same ink with water and creating splatters on the sky all around the house.

My house also needed owners so I stamped and cut two cute gnomes as well as additional images to complete the scene and colored everything using the same color palette as before.

Next I attached my mushroom house panel on a card base and then stuck the images on top using foam squares. And the final step was to add my sentiment. I stamped 'From my gnome to yours' on white cardstock, and trimmed it into a slim banner that I attached in the top right hand corner.

Lawn Fawn - There's snow place like home - No-line coloring

Hello there,

I'm glad to share with you this winter card showcasing some masking and no-line coloring using alcohol markers. Ever since I got the Sweet Christmas stamp set, I have been wanting to use the gingerbread house as a regular house. Now it's a done deal with this cute cabin ^^

For this new project I was inspired by this picture:

I first started by cutting two pieces from masking paper: a hill border, and a mountain border. I attached the masking hill border at the bottom of my bristol cardstock panel, stamped the house and trees using barely beige ink from Simon says stamp, and masked them.

Next I attached the masking mountain border, i also added three masking clouds and then I colored the sky using tumbled glass oxide ink.

I removed the mask of the mountain, attached the mask of the sky and used tumbled glass and peacock feathers oxide inks to color the mountains.  Then i removed all the masking pieces except for the hill border.

I used a light grey zig marker to trace lines on the house to create planks and then colored it using my alcohol markers. I also added more shadows and details using colored pencils to define the planks and windows better.

I die cut three mountain tops and a hill border from white glitter paper and attached them to my panel. And to add even more sparkles to the scene, i stamped the roof of the house at the back of the same white glitter paper, fussy cut it and glued it on the house.

For my sentiment, I stamped the first and last parts, and created small strips. The middle part was made using the word snow of a let it snow sentiment.

Once the sentiment was complete i attached my panel to a white card base and finally I added a bunch of white Nuvo drops to create falling snow.

Jennifer Nilsson Art - Contrasting Colors for an Encouragement Card

Hey there,

I'm back with a new one layer card entirely no-line colored using alcohol markers. I really like that new challenge I threw myself into, and Jennifer Nilsson's designs are just perfect for that.

So, I first started by printing the image on Neenah solar white cardstock. Next, I picked several bright colors of markers to color the girl because I knew my background would be in grey tons and I wanted the image to stand out.

Like as said, the background was colored different shades of grey markers. I kept the dark greys on the left, kind of behind the girl, and the light greys towards her to give the illusion of brightened sky.

I stamped my sentiment using an alphabet stamp set from my stash, added details and shadows on the girl using colored pencils, and drew some raindrops using a white gel pen. And then I simply attached my panel to a white card base to finish the project.

Holiday Card Series 2018 - Christmas Tree Delivery

Hello there,

I hope you're not tired of my holiday cards because I still have some projects to share before the season finally begin! For this card I used the new "Driving Bear" digi stamp set by Isabel Cristina Stamps. One cool thing about that set (beside its cuteness ^^) is you can use it for other occasions: moving, birthdays, etc...

Here are close-up looks:

I first started by printing my images on Neenah solar white cardstock. The sky was colored using three shades of blue alcohol markers. The houses were colored using the same medium but I added details using colored pencils.

The snow was made using white embossing paste. I applied it using a palette knife for the ground, and used a stencil to create the falling snow. And the snow on the roofs was created using a snow pen.

I colored the car image using my alcohol markers and fussy cut it. Attached it on the panel using foam adhesive squares. Did the same thing with the sentiment. And I finally attached the panel to a white card base.

Jennifer Nilsson Art - Coloring a Fall Scene

Hello there,

I'm beyond excited to share with you my very first card as a member of Jennifer Nilsson Art design team! This lady is so talented and makes the most adorable designs! For this first project, I decided to try something new to me: creating and coloring an entire scene using Spectrum Noir markers. I also added details and shadows using colored pencils, and as you can notice, it's no-line coloring too ^^ Hope you'll like it!

I first started by printing the scarecrow on Neenah solar white cardstock. I colored it but left the overalls blank because at that point I couldn't decide which color to use ^^ Next I drew the rest of the scene (grass, bushes and trees) using a light beige markers, and then I colored everything. I also added some leaves on the branches.

I finally colored the overalls, and then I added details and shadows to add depth, contrast and more interest. I stamped my sentiment using versamark ink and gold heat embossed it. I like fall colors with gold, I think they're perfect together ^^ To finish the project, I simply attached the panel to a kraft card base.
